Spent way too long backtracking the whole game and post game just because the devs didn't want to implement quick warp back to the post office. Some pinball stages felt hellish to fully complete due to bad oversight. Really needed a toggable post game secrets revealer. Otherwise it was an incredible time.
Keep getting stuck in endless loops with no clear goal other than to get out somehow
good game
This is a great 1/3rd of a game. The pinball as a main mechanic is a lot of fun and the characters have a cute personality. There's lots of sidequests. The downside is that if you're looking for difficulty, you won't find it here. I would have loved harder tables, a game over, more Metroidvania powerups (how can you have a pinball game without tilt?), and just more main quest in general. Recommendation: buy it on Steam sale as I did.
Super cute, fun, and unique gameplay. Loved the story, all the side quests, and couldn't put it down once I started. Highly recommend!
A few things aren't immediately obvious, especially due to everything that is happening on the screen at moments, but this game is really good. It's so unique that no other game is like this game. It's literally just pinball everywhere. No combat, super chill, metroidvania. Took about 16 hours to 100% without using guides. I wager that's slower than most can do though, as I take my time exploring back and forth. I also did have to look at my achievements on steam to see a particular achievement I was still missing by the time the game ended, but once I checked it I was able to get the achievement on my own. There's a lot of backtracking to 100% the game, but probably not too much if you only focus the main quests. If you can handle the timing of pinball, and like Metroidvanias, then I definitely recommend Yoku's Island Express.
One of my top gaming experiences. This game perfectly mixes metroidvania with pinball, and it's just so much fun. Very few complaints other than it's just too short. I was able to 100% the game in under 15 hours, and that included a lot of unnecessary backtracking. I would also say the game is much too easy; pinball difficulty could have very easily been increased. All in all, the only negative thing about this game is I want more. Can't think of a better endorsement.
