Almost everyone recommended this game when I asked for suggestions after playing both Ori games. Apparently, it's a must-play if you like Metroidvania games. And they were right! I really enjoyed this game. It's absolutely adorable and challenging enough for me (playing on Normal difficulty). Did I still rage-quit at some sections of the game? Yes, but that's just my lack of skill showing. It's the kind of game that's cozy one moment (just jumping around and minding my own business) and rage-inducing the next (stupid thorny things that were out to get me). >.< 10/10! At 5 hours in, I'm still not done with the game yet (again, a me problem). I'll definitely be continuing with other Kyle Thompson games after this.
Short, cute, and to the point. Everything is great except that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worm boss.
A bit quirky, fun, and lovely looking game. Weird creatures and the fictional dystopian environment are quite reminiscent of Rain World, as well as Badlands, sharing some gameplay mechanics as well. And although the gameplay isn't anything spectacular, it's undoubtedly very well executed, making it not only very fun to play but also to fully complete it as well. It's not frustratingly difficult. It's solidly made, with some nice touches, like most areas being accessible from both ends and having progression shortcuts. The soothing soundtrack not only fits the atmosphere very well, but I also found it very nice to listen to. And while it's quite an ordinary platformer, it still works well with its elements, reveals, exploration, and the light narrative.
Very fun and short metroidvania like game. you dont really fight anyone, not even the bosses. beat it under 3 hours in total. its more like a puzzle metroidvania game than anything out there. get it on sale though. for how short it is, 10 bucks is a bit too much.

I picked this up on a sale recently after playing and enjoying Iselets elsewhere, and Sheepo is pretty good for what it is, blending platformer with metroidvania. However I did find the bossess a bit annoying to deal with(however It can very well just be a skill issue on my end) , being more endurance tests/ light bullet-hell. Though the game still controls and plays well.
Fantastic game. Short and sweet with great platforming feel and level design. 10/10

The first of Kyle Thompson's metroidvanias, Sheepo is a gentle puzzle-platformer that shows signs of promise but I wish it had a little more substance personally. We are Sheepo, the titular sheep-ish alien. They arrive on a planet tasked with recovering the 6 eggs of the various species of life local to it. The denizens of the world don't seem terribly disposed to just give them up though, and so Sheepo tends to run afoul of some monstrous bosses who guard them. The name of the game is platforming and exploration. Sheepo has a neat transformation power that at first lets them use glowing white points to launch themselves over distances, but as you find eggs you gain the ability to temporarily turn into the species you find. The abilities that grants you are contextual; birds let you fly and boney worms let you burrow through the ground, for example, and naturally mastering all of Sheepo's forms is vital for total coverage of the planet. The one thing Sheepo can't do is fight, which means the requisite boss fights represent the primary challenge points in the game; a number of them tend to feature a repetitive sequence of dodging until you can trick a homing attack to hit the boss' face, which is a bit pedestrian. It's a short, sweet metroidvania though, and a nice low stakes entry point into the genre.
