Quite possibly the best jump-less 3D platformer starring a taxi. Give it a vroom.
Silly and fun N64 style collectathon platformer. The sense of humor is a bit much and over the top. I found it to be charming. The platforming itself is fairly janky with inconsistent physics for the car. There is no traditional jump you have to manipulate where you want to go based on the environment and speed. It does not feel as satisfying compared to something like Mario64 or even the Banjo games. The game changes things up for every map. This keeps the challenges and levels feeling fresh. Some maps have a sort of time limit that you can increase by collecting time or delivering people. This mechanic has clear inspiration from crazy taxi. I didn’t enjoy this mechanic much. The delivering mechanic became tedious and repetitive after only a few encounters. Luckily you can get by with the timed levels easily without them. I’d say play it if you ever enjoyed nintendo64 era platformers. It was simple fun and a good nostalgia trip. Yellow Taxi Goes Vrrom surprised me by being clever with the constraints of the design.
someone's psychotic episode turned into a really good collect-a-thon. a steal for those 5 bucks i payed for it
Wow, this game was an absolute treat to play. The platforming is quite simple near the beginning, but was quite frustrating to get some of the harder-to-reach collectables. As you progress, you will have mini tutorials that give abilities/tricks on how to use the simple controls. These completely change how you play the game and make earlier sections insanely easy. The 100% of this game isn't too easy, and absolutely will require you to know every trick to complete. The music compliments some of the levels so well, getting you hyped to go very quick and collect everything you see. I wholeheartedly recommend Yellow Taxi, even as someone who isn't a fan of the genre!
Juste le meilleur platformer 3D de la décennie
This is such a great romp. If you have any nostalgia for old collectathons from the 64-bit era, than do yourself a favor and pick this up. It is challenging, but not crazy difficult. Maybe 100% is insane, but I didn't accomplish that -- I have completed the main game. It has some humorous dialogue, and goofy characters who may or may not resemble some well known figures. Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom isn't a perfect game, but what game is. Its controls alone might put some people off, but I encourage you to put a little time in experimenting with it to get the feel for things. It knows exactly what kind of game it is, and wears it heart on its sleeve. You can feel the love that went into it.
I heard of this game when a YouTuber I watch mentioned it in passing, and I'm glad I found it, because it's exactly the type of game I like to play! It's got an element of frenzy, particularly when you're transporting passengers, but it's not quite to the extent of Pizza Tower (which is fine, that's not its goal). This game has an adrenaline level equivalent to the first half of a Pizza Tower level, I think. This game is I think my favorite movement playground out of the few games that fit that category that I've played. For the most part, the moves available to you at the start of the game are all the moves you'll get, and they're still plenty! What the game relies on to keep content away is a lack of mastery or awareness of the full capability of your abilities. You almost spend more time in the air than on the ground in this driving game (an exaggeration, but you get the idea!), and it's fun to just find a ramp and go flying. The storyline is pretty good! It's not particularly serious, but a serious storyline in a game like this would be a mistake. The game is free to make fun of itself, and it does quite often, but still maintains a somewhat coherent plot, it isn't completely "do-it-yourself." The humor can be crude at times but I think that compliments the game's style. And the lawyer character, as far as I know, is in every. single. level. I'm always a fan of the retro style and this game knocks it out of the park. The models are fun and hyperbolic, and the color is super saturated and novel. This is also a really long game! It took about 9 hours to beat the main game (I'm writing this review shortly after that), and it seems that in terms of total collectible count, I'm only 60% done. There's almost half of the game left to explore! It also reveals more things to do as the game progresses, that's fairly typical. I'd recommend this game! Pretty much everything was done right. This game had a specific goal in mind and met it exactly. Check it out, if you're willing to spend the $17. The 97% positive rating (at the time of writing) is well deserved!
Crazy game (in a good way) with a surprising amount of depth and care in the design of the mechanics and levels. This really does a great job of marrying the platformer and the racing game, with a consistent emphasis on both speed and precision in driving mechanics that rewards player skill. The level design is insane but effective, and there are tons of secrets in the levels that really complete the 90s aesthetic they're going for.
