Feels like a classic point and click adventure, but without the annoying quirks of the old games! Challenging, but the sidekick Crispin is always helpful in getting you unstuck, while not spoiling the answer to the puzzles. It's a very hard balance to achieve and they nailed it! The story and lore are great, super compelling and the atmosphere is very immersive. Couldn't recommend it enough if you are a fan of the point and click genre.
Gutes Spiel aber die Story packt nicht
Primordia is a remarkable example of how a classic point-and-click adventure can deliver an unforgettable science fiction experience through exceptional storytelling rather than flashy presentation. Developed by Wormwood Studios and published by Wadjet Eye Games, the game unfolds in a distant future where humanity has vanished, leaving intelligent machines to inherit a world slowly succumbing to decay. Instead of relying on constant action, Primordia immerses players in a reflective narrative that explores themes of existence, belief, identity, and the value of memory. Its desolate landscapes and forgotten relics immediately establish a haunting atmosphere, inviting players to uncover the secrets of a civilization long gone while questioning what it truly means to be alive. The story follows Horatio Nullbuilt, a solitary robot who lives peacefully aboard an aging airship alongside his loyal companion, Crispin. Their quiet routine is disrupted when a mysterious machine steals the power source that sustains their home, forcing them into a dangerous journey across the wastelands and toward the technologically advanced city of Metropol. While recovering the stolen energy core serves as the initial objective, the narrative gradually unfolds into a much larger mystery involving Horatio's own origins and the hidden history of robotic society. Every new discovery expands the world's lore in meaningful ways, and the dialogue consistently demonstrates impressive depth without becoming inaccessible. Horatio's serious and introspective personality is balanced by Crispin's clever humor, creating an engaging partnership that carries the emotional heart of the adventure from beginning to end. The visual design embraces retro-inspired pixel art while delivering environments filled with intricate detail and personality. Every ruined structure, abandoned machine, and weathered landscape contributes to the impression of a civilization that has survived for centuries after its creators disappeared. The contrast between the harsh wastelands and the towering city of Metropol gives each location a distinct identity, encouraging players to examine every corner for clues and hidden details. Complementing the artwork is a beautifully atmospheric soundtrack that reinforces the game's lonely yet captivating mood. The voice acting is another standout feature, with memorable performances that breathe life into every major character. Conversations often become as rewarding as puzzle-solving, making even lengthy exchanges feel worthwhile because they continuously develop the story and its philosophical themes. Gameplay remains faithful to traditional point-and-click adventure design, rewarding careful exploration, logical thinking, and close attention to dialogue. Players collect items, interact with a wide variety of objects, solve environmental puzzles, and speak with numerous characters whose perspectives shape the larger narrative. The puzzles generally feel fair because they emphasize observation and reasoning rather than random experimentation, although a handful may challenge players unfamiliar with older adventure game conventions. The inclusion of optional puzzles is a particularly thoughtful design choice, allowing players to earn additional background information and world-building without forcing completion for story progression. Multiple endings further enhance replayability by ensuring that choices made throughout the adventure influence the final outcome, giving greater significance to the moral and philosophical decisions presented along the way. Primordia succeeds because it treats its audience with intelligence and respect. Rather than providing simple answers, it encourages players to reflect on artificial intelligence, faith, free will, and the legacy of humanity through a carefully crafted narrative filled with memorable characters and meaningful dialogue. Although its deliberate pacing and occasional challenging puzzles may not appeal to those seeking immediate action, they perfectly complement the thoughtful experience the game aims to deliver. The result is a timeless adventure that remains one of the strongest examples of narrative-driven science fiction in the genre. Its compelling story, atmospheric presentation, excellent performances, and rewarding exploration combine to create an experience that lingers long after the credits roll. Rating: 9/10
Fun point and click adventure game with robots. You find yourself stranded in a desert area with your robot companion Crispin and must figure out a way out. With silly dialogue and good voice acting, this is a laid back game. Puzzles are moderate and the story enjoyable.
An absolutely fantastic point-and-click game with gorgeous art, nuanced storytelling, and a lot of narrative outcomes. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys sci-fi themes and explorations of morality.
Primordia is like if the heavy hitters of the adventure game genre just kept using an old school variant of their negine up until modern day. I think it won a modern classic award and boy does it deserve it. It's a fantastic character driven mystery that holds a thoughtful and tonally varied exploration of an apocalypse where only robots survive and what sense they try and find in that world and the wide variety of beliefs they come to hold and what the build. Despite the bleakness of the setting I often found the writing fun and comedic and engaging? All the wildly different characters and how they act and speak leads to lots of fun and dynamic sessions, and there's an attention to detail -- things that might seem one off can be brought up again and it rarely felt like anything was coming out of left field. Also the art for this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gorgeous. I've been showing my friends the Goliath exterior because it is an art print you could hang up. The game has this consistent, kind of spindly and organic art style makes all of the robots fascinating to look at. When the game leans on mysticism and gravitas it absolutely is capable of pulling off the visual design to make them land. I adore it and easily will make it stick with me. It also consistently gets patched to fix any funky bugs and ensure compatibly on modern systems. I played this on Ubuntu LTS 24 and it worked great. Also, for what it's worth: I often think it's easy to assume what the protagonist of the game thinks/speaks is what the game is speaking (I think they often strongly align!) but Primordia is much more about having a wide variety of different perspectives exploring philosophical ranges of belief. The protagonist starts out more or less a religious libertarian but the game itself does not commit to any point so much as explores the rest of them. It is not at all a cheap with any of the things it touches, even with the antagonist. It's been sticking with me and I've bee talking to friends about it. As of 2026-03-20 it currently is on extra sale (from the easily worth it $10) to an absolute steal $3.
Wonderful point and click adventure. Great art, atmosphere, voice acting, writing, and puzzle design. Gets tough in some spots, but a great experience overall.
Excellent game!
