Good step for a new dev !

DLC worth? What is this is EA making DLC on 80s ??? Nah doesnt need it. It doesnt even have DLC Hope the game keep updating and yes no DLC is the best way to go.

My oppinion I like how the dev hearing feedback from the player i see theres an update for the game comes from the player feedback and it make the game more playable. Well i only have small feedback thou i hope the dev will adding new achievement cuz the game only have one achievement and the dev need to consider adding an achievement for each stage, example : Get achevement reach phase 2 or after finish it and going phase 3 well you know the idea. I think that will make the game more have "purpose" than blind one achievement cuz the game is not easy i tell ya, I hope the dev give a new achevement whenever we get new phase so the player will have an satisfaction after beating each phase.

Review Version 4.3.4 Learn More About my stupid review. ©²⁰¹⁹ ᴹʸ ˢᵗᵘᵖᶦᵈ ᴿᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ. ᴮʸ ᴿᵉⁿˢ ᴬᵍᵃᵗʰᵃ. ᴴᵉʸ ᵎ ᶜᵘʳʳᵉⁿᵗˡʸ ᶦ ᶠᵒᶜᵘˢᵉᵈ ᵗᵒ ᵈᵉᵛᵉˡᵒᵖ ᵐʸ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ. ˢᴼ ᶦᵐ ᵒᵖᵉⁿᶦⁿᵍ ᶠᵒʳ ᵖᵉᵒᵖˡᵉ ʷʰᵒ ʷʰᵒ ᶦⁿᵗʳᵉˢᵗᵉᵈ ᵗᵒ ᵍᵉᵗ ᵃ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ ᵃⁿᵈ ᶠᵉᵉᵈᵇᵃᶜᵏ. ᴰᵒ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᶦᵏᵉ ᵐʸ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ ˀ ᴬʳᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᵃ ᵈᵉᵛᵉˡᵒᵖᵉʳ ᵗʳʸᶦⁿᵍ ᵗᵒ ᶠᶦⁿᵈ ˢᵒᵐᵉᵒⁿᵉ ᵗᵒ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ ʸᵒᵘʳ ᵍᵃᵐᵉ ˀ, ᴰᶦᵈ ʸᵒᵘ ᵗᶦʳᵉᵈ ʷᶦᵗʰ ᵖᵉᵒᵖˡᵉ ʷʰᵒ ᵍᶦᵛᶦⁿᵍ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ ᶠᵒʳ ᵗʰᵉᵐˢᵉˡᶠ ˀ. ʸᵒᵘ ᶜᵃⁿ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵃᶜᵗ ᵐᵉ ᶦᶠ ʸᵒᵘ'ʳᵉ ᶦⁿᵗʳᵉˢᵗᵉᵈ. ⁽ᴳᵒᵒᵈ/ʳᵉᶜᵒᵐᵐᵉⁿᵈᵉᵈ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷˢ ᶜᵃⁿⁿᵒᵗ ᵇᵉ ᵍᵘᵃʳᵃⁿᵗᵉᵉᵈ. ᴮᵘᵗ ᴵ ᵈᵒ ᶠᵉᵉᵈᵇᵃᶜᵏ ᵃⁿᵈ ˢᵉᵉ ᵗʰᵉ ᵖᵒᵗᵉⁿᵗᶦᵃˡ ᵒᶠ ᵗʰᵉ ᵍᵃᵐᵉ.⁾ ᴵ ᵃˡˢᵒ ᵘᵖᵈᵃᵗᶦⁿᵍ ᵐʸ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ ᶠᵒʳ ᵃ ᵍᵃᵐᵉ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ʰᵉᵃʳᶦⁿᵍ ᵗʰᵉᶦʳ ᵖˡᵃʸᵉʳ ᶠᵉᵉᵈᵇᵃᶜᵏ ᵃⁿᵈ ʳᵉᵛᶦᵉʷ ᵗʰᵉ ᵍᵃᵐᵉ ᵃᵍᵃᶦⁿ.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4yLGxXp2a4
A review copy was provided by the developer.

Follow my Curator page, Fruit N Doggie Reviews, so you can be updated whenever I post a new review.

Overall Rating - Unplayable Trash ☆☆☆☆☆

First Impressions
In what seemed like deja vu, a developer offered me a copy of XEYYEX (XY) when it was being launched, which happened a short time after the same thing had happened with The Ploshers (TP). This game had a striking similarity, so I asked the person who messaged me about it, yet they denied any association between them. I've checked both store pages on Steam, and they list themselves under different developer and producer names. Coincidences happen, and as it turns out, I dislike both games. Go figure.
Gameplay
You control an eyeball, which when placed in the maze-like arena of the game, has quite the resemblance to Pacman. Both are round characters, with a small section in the front that's different from the single color making up the rest. Though moving around the environment is much the same, your objective is quite different. In XY, you kill enemies so they'll drop X's, 10 of which allows you to move onto the next stage. There are only 30 in total, so if you can clear them all, you win. To kill enemies, you'll fire at them with projectiles, though you have limited ammo. So, as you're going around fighting enemies, you'll have to acquire more ammo. Making matters worse, you also have to gather time, because if the timer reaches zero, you die. It sounds simple in theory, but you have to juggle several factors at once while playing what should be a straightforward arcade experience. You can play this game with a second person, but I'm not sure how well that'd go with the need to manage ammo.
Controls
XY is simple enough to control, though you have the option to play either with the keyboard, or a controller. Aside from occasional problems getting stuck on a turn or corner, I had no issues with the controls.
Story
With XY functioning as an arcade game, there isn't any story shown here. I'm surprised that there isn't a title screen image or cutscene giving some explanation or motivation for playing. Considering how that's absent, I wouldn't think there'd be an ending either.
Visuals
I find the visuals in XY rather bland. The floors and walls are each made up of square tiles, none of which have interesting details or designs. This leads to each arena having two kinds of tiles, with some of the color schemes being outright ugly, or even worse, hard on the eyes. Enemies have lackluster and inconsistent designs, as some look very childlike, like TNT with arms and legs. Overall, the designs seem quite random, as some are robotic, while others are just animals, such as spiders and octopi. When several of these disparate enemies spawn in, it looks like a mess. Since I grew up playing NES titles, I find this especially disappointing, as theming was a crucial part of those simpler games.
Sound Design
As you work your way through the game, different tunes play to match your progress. It might go through them in a predetermined order, though I'm not positive about what factor chooses the next song. None of them are particularly remarkable, but they're adequate background music for a game of this nature. I do find the somewhat desert-like song a bit strange, though that's not much of a negative. There aren't any annoying sound effects, though I do wish there was some kind of audio alert when your time is running low. Give me some kind of warning, please.
Pros
🌟 You don't have to mash the button to fire your attack rapidly. You're also able to 'strafe,' or maintain your fire in a constant direction as you move around. 🌟 There's local coop available.
Cons
❌ There are too many variables to keep track of. You need to be mindful of how many enemies there are, and which areas are becoming troublesome. Ammo also must be carefully conserved, because if you get blocked off from a path, it can lead to a death. Since running out of time is an instant death, that's also important to keep track of. ❌ I tried to find out if there's a limit on how many enemies can spawn, and I don't think there is. At one point, there were 25 enemies on screen, which would be impossible to deal with. Making another comparison to Pacman, which only had four enemies at a time, this concept clearly doesn't work. ❌ The way items spawn in is not well programmed. I've had a timer spawn underneath a letter, so I couldn't see where to get more time. In another bad example, an enemy spawned underneath an ammo container just as I picked it up, so I died instantly. ❌ There aren't any options, so you can't adjust the volume or anything else. You also can't get out of the game easily until you game over. ❌ Every enemy you kill only has a chance of giving you 1 of 10 X's you need to beat the stage. It's not even guaranteed!
Tips
🔍 At the beginning of each level, while there's a scant number of enemies around, hoard ammo and time. It's your best opportunity to stockpile those reserves for later. This is restricted by the size of the mazes, and how there may not be a simple path from one resource you want to the next, but it only gets worse as enemies keep spawning. 🔍 When you die, though your resources restart to the beginning amount, there's no change in how many enemies there are on the screen. So, if you die because there's too many enemies around, you wind up in even worse shape. IE, don't die if you want to win. 🔍 If you really wanted to, you could grind for free lives on the very first stage, when there's nothing but easy enemies spawning. It'd be annoying to control them sufficiently, but it'd be an opportunity to rack up points by collecting ingots.
Final Thoughts
I'm surprised the completion rate for the sole achievement for this game is so high, as it requires you to beat the whole game. Based on my single attempt at playing XY, where the timer was hidden by another power-up, and I lost my last life walking head-first into an enemy that just spawned beneath ammo, I won't be playing more of this title. I wouldn't enjoy the compact nature of moving around mazes and trying to acquire ammo anyways, but that bogus experienced ruined my interest completely. I don't recommend the game at all.
SteamPlay/Proton
A must have for Arcade style gamer. If bomberman has a badass friend XEYYEX would be his friend.
Xeyyex
A simple retro arcade game which is fun to play in small bursts but the lack of options means your interest wains quite quickly
Unashamedly retro and mimicking games like Pac Man, Xeyyex doesn’t try to be complicated and doesn’t need to be. It’s a shame there are no continues or different modes and features to spice it up a little.

The Grand Picture
Xeyyex is a simple grid-based arcade clone where you move around shooting enemies until they drop an “X” for you to pick up. Once you collect ten of these you move onto the next level. Not every enemy will drop an “X” though. It is purely random. You have three lives but can accumulate one more life every five thousand points. Points are earned by collecting ingots of either bronze, silver or gold which are randomly dropped onto the grid; These earn you one hundred, two hundred or five hundred points respectively. The game has a couple of limiters to make it more difficult. You have limited firepower and have limited time. You can increase your firepower and time levels by collecting ammo and clocks that are dropped. One ammo gives you thirty extra shots and one clock gives you an extra fifteen seconds. When you drop to fifteen seconds an alarm sounds to warn you. If you run out of time you die. There is no such warning for running out of ammo though which quite often causes death. You also have a limited number of missiles. You start off with three missiles and can gain extra ones by spelling out the word “EXPLOSION” by picking up letters on the grid. Some letters are static and stay the same whilst others alternate between letters as they sit there. Missiles travel the whole length of the grid and will kill all enemies in its path. It’s a great way of getting out of trouble. The enemies are quite varied and get harder and more dangerous as you progress. Enemies will continue to spawn until literally the whole grid is full of enemies. You need to keep on top of the numbers. Some enemies can fire back at you and some can deflect your bullets. As you progress the grids get tighter and harder to navigate safely. One-way doors can appear that stop you going back through them once you enter. There are escape routes on every grid to get you out of trouble although some enemies deliberately hang around these! After five rounds you enter a bonus round where you have to collect as many of the dots on the grid as you can without getting killed by the enemies. It is a nice way of accumulating some points and gaining an extra life. The aim of the game is to complete all thirty levels. Once your lives expire you have to start from the beginning again. There are no continues or chances to start from a certain level. Your highest score and level achieved is displayed on the splash screen but there are no leaderboards. You can play one or two players simultaneously.
Xeyyex is very basic but quite charming and the enemies and grids are imaginative and fun. It will certainly offer a challenge without any continues but the game lacks modes and features I would expect to see which limits its replayability.

Final Thoughts
The game is very basic but quite fun to play. There is a great retro tune playing throughout which charges gameplay. The main character is an eye ball and he travels around the grid smoothly and fires quickly. The grids get progressively harder and I can only attest to the first eight levels as I cannot get any further. Of the levels I have played I was impressed with the new ideas introduced on each level. More interesting enemies and grid features meant the game stayed fresh and exciting. After I died, I just wished there was a continue or option to start off at each fifth level. I normally quit the game after twenty minutes and try again another day. I would have liked to have seen more options with features like ammo and time. I wondered what the game would be like with unlimited time and firepower. This could be a normal mode and the limited options a harder mode for example. I would also like to see options for changing the controller or keyboard controls. The fire key wasn’t the usual fire key and I quite often pressed the incorrect button when in the frenzy of battle causing death. All your important information is stored at the top of the screen. Your score, number of lives, number of Xs,firepower, time, number of missiles and the letters EXPLOSION. It is not that easy to quickly glance and register the information. It looks a bit of a mess and a reconstruction of that area might be beneficial.
Conclusion

Although Xeyyex looks very basic there are some nice ideas behind its level and enemy design and it is fun to play in small doses. It mimics the retro arcade feel quite well with its brash soundtrack and familiar grid-based play. The only reservation I would have is that it soon becomes tiresome due to the fact you cannot continue or start at a certain level and there are no online or friend leaderboards. Even with the lack of these options it still seems like a good buy if you like retro arcade games however.
I was contacted by the developer and given a free copy of the game for review purposes.
