Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Alternative slant on the XCOM franchise following on from XCOM 2. Using an existing group of agents/heroes and new mechanics gives the game a richer dialogue narrative, and a fresh and faster paced feel. The agents each bring their own set of abilities, providing fun new ways to attack, and link together.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

You can consider this game XCOM-lite and not in a bad way. The devs have introduced a few new interesting mechanisms such as Timeline, which mixes your turns with the enemies' turns and that often forces you to use your available options creatively. Breach mode and breach specific buffs and nerfs are also a good addition, though they can get a bit boring after a while. The overall difficulty feels lower than XCOM 1 and 2 (especially War of the Chosen) and the fact that your units aren't allowed to die makes it even easier. That said, I used to save scum a lot in the previous XCOM games to preserve my favourite units, so there's no need to do that here. The game is better optimized than WOTC, but still there are sudden frame drops here and there. The worst issue that I encountered was massive rubberbanding in at least 50% of the missions. That does get irritating, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
Is it as good as the two mainline Firaxis XCOM games? No. It is a much more approachable game than those though, and on higher difficulty settings it can still be quite challenging. There is no permadeath for squad members-you have to stabilize them or finish the mission before they die. If they die you have to restart. What I enjoy best about this that it shows what life on Earth is like after vanquishing the Elder invasion. There are goofy commercials that have to account for alien life (Nearly everyone can enjoy BIG CRUNCH!" There is inter-squad dialogue that reflects what happened during the war. City 31 does feel like a city that has to balance out the interests of humans and alien life. In terms of the turn based combat itself, the highlight is that you get to control several alien squad members to try out some of the alien abilities from the other games. All squad members have a unique kit with a couple fun abilities. The breach system dividing each encounter gets a little old-it would be nice to have some longer form missions where you can move through a more substantial level. Most missions end up being break into a room, kill everyone in the room, then move on to the next room. Once in a while you have a hostage rescue or an objective to control, but they're not all that much more exciting. There is some variety provided with some random modifiers that change how the factions you fight against work throughout the campaign. This can add different types of enemies to fights, change the weapons they have, or make certain enemies more powerful. The technical bugs with the product weren't game breaking for me, but they were annoying. I had a crash to desktop in the prologue mission once, this is not a game I would recommend playing on the Ironman mode. The most consistent error was that when enemies or my units move around the battlefield the movement gets really jerky and it will show them moving to impossible locations before suddenly jumping into the space they were actually moving into. Since this is a turn-based game, that doesn't really affect how a battle goes, but it does look silly and unpolished. The base management is not as deep as the other XCOM games, but there is some research to do, upgrades for squad members you can get, and you do have to balance where you want to assign your team members to achieve your goals.
Quick and simple: This is an ok game at best, in my opinion. Levels aren't that long and it's easy to pick up, leave for a bit, then play for a while later. Not the most engaging and the writing feels more comedic than serious, but oh well. It uses a hero based system (As in pre-made characters that can be upgraded, but have no cosmetic customizability.), of which you can collect 11/14 of. If you're a fan of the Xcom series, you might like this game. If you're new, I recommend starting with Xcom 2. Xcom 2 is HIGHLY moddable, has incredible character creation (with the mods), a solid storyline, engaging gameplay, I could ramble. Xcom 2 is what got me into the series, and I hope it can get you in too.
s'good soup
