Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Unfortunately, it's different than a regular XCOM game. I don't want to say it's bad, but for fans of the previous games it will probably be a problem. Different mechanics, different combat, minimal management. It's not for me. For hardcore XCOM fans, this will probably be a problem...

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I bet my ass this was a Android/iOS title at some point in development but they decided to make a PC port of it instead. What. A. Garbage and absolutely insane downgrade to Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2. The only cool thing about this one is being able to play as alien units (I'd really like a viper waifu Torque to squeeze me for 2 points of damage every turn) and that's it. Firaxis claimed that this is an experimental title but I genuinely don't see what they were experimenting with. Chimera Squad is so watered down it's not even funny. I got this in a bundle with War of The Chosen expansion for XCOM 2 for pretty much free and I still feel robbed.
It has all of the bad of X-Com and none of the good. The RNG kicks your butt all the time like it;s suposed to in a X-COM but the reduced maps in size and the breach mehanic just don't allow any meaningfull strategy or way around it like the previous X-com's. I was thinking of asking for a refund but i think i'll just put it on the archive and slog thru this piece of crap when i have the time, or not.
Jogo maravilhoso, me irritei no inicio, perdi uma campanha mas quando fiz a segunda já fechei o game. Xcom simplificado porém pelo tamanho do game vale a pena demais o jogar.
Really not a fan of the character designs on this game.
Un spinoff curioso de X:COM. Tiene sus luces y sombras, pero es entretenido.
No es como las entregas anteriores, pero me ha gustado el concepto
Firaxis just makes my favorite strategy games. I enjoy the more casual nature of this title, and really hope that when they eventually do another main line game, we can learn a bit from this one. Might be an unpopular opinion, but as a spin off, it's pretty decent. Since its narritivly locked around pre made characters, they don't get perma-deathed as often. So to some, that might be a negative. But the older I get the less I want to constantly fighting for my life and save files on every game. I just want a strategy game that I can struggle enough on the first play through but still complete it without many major setbacks. I just enjoy the difficulty curve here more than Xcom 2. While xcom 2 is still the more full experience. I really hope the next in the series learns from this title specifically when looking to innovate on the formula once again. I got this for 3$ and even at 10$, it's an easy buy if you ever liked Xcom previously. Just play on the hardest difficulty if you want it to be more "nostalgic" and if you're an ironman player then look into the mods that let you back up saves. That might sound counter productive, but I've heard plenty of reports that ironman saves get corrupted near the end randomly and keeping a backup as insurance is not cheating when the alternative is killing the run early.
While it's scaled down in scope compared to XCOM proper (especially if you got into Long War 2)... It's basically bite-sized XCOM, and totally worth playing. It's also nice seeing a timeline in which we get to see how Earth is recovering from the invasion. ...That said, why did they make the Xenos sound 100% human with zero voice modulation type stuff? It really would have added, I think.
