Just good =)
this series has come a long way since x3, and although I'm playing x4:foundations years after it's been released(in 9.0), it's the first time I'm playing and it feels like egosoft finally have it all together. I've never been this sucked into an X series game like this one, and the lack of "typical" egosoft clunkyness is just...not present at all for me. Absolutely play this game if you're into space empire sandboxes.
This is a great game, even with the awkward UI and auto pilot still not 100%. Having reached 350 hours I have finally got into terraforming, which is a pain although worthwhile. I skipped the last 3 dlc's so maybe I don't have the full experience yet it has been really fun so far. I kinda dread trying to find all of the vaults without using a guide but I'm gonna give it a go. The ability to replay the game so you can change the outcome of some quests is nice. Adding mods to your ships can really make a difference too. The 9.0 update has definitely changed things for the better.
Oui !
Game only for hardcore enthusiasts. Everything is SO convoluted, bilions of shortcuts that doesn't make any sense, submenus in submenus in menus. Autopilot is a fliping joke, cant fly with map opened on autopilot off. Getting hang of it is like going for PhD, whole system is so complicated. I have no patience, nor time to spend on something like that.
Great game, a little too complex at times but it's a fine trade for the deepness of the simulation.
If you're looking for a game to give you a sense of scale, and a living space universe, this hits all the right notes. The things that impressed me from the small amount of the game I have explored so far have all been related to the world. The music is incredible. It really places you in the world, very atmospheric, and honestly pretty catchy. The sense of scale is amazing. Docking in space stations, walking around the docks, boarding larger ships, looking out on an Observation Deck, it all feels so huge. You are a tiny little speck amongst gargantuan creations. The skyboxes are really well done. Exploring new systems just to see its environment is always a treat, The overall atmosphere is what captured me, and has kept me playing so far. The living world is really what is unique about this game, and lends itself well to the sense of immersion. Seeing ships come and go, the organic battles and situations. The entire game running apart from you, again gives you the sense you are just a small part of this universe. The actual minute to minute gameplay is pretty slow paced, and methodical. Its less simulation like Elite: Dangerous, but it still has good physics and controls. But there is auto pilot, captains, auto docking, and many other things that make it so actually controlling your ship is less important. The graphics are really nice from afar, but kind of show its limitations up close. But it does the job well enough, especially considering all the other aspects of the game. The narrative missions are intriguing, I really enjoy the actual missions as a whole, but the writing for the dialogue and voice acting is something that could be far better. It isn't terrible, but it does show itself, especially with the janky animations of the characters. I am still playing this as of writing this, as there is so much more to the game that I haven't explored. I just started building stations, have gotten ships to start working for my stations, and starting to delve into the entire economy a bit more. But up until now, the exploration and smaller missions are worth the money alone. BONUS: native linux support is a massive W. Keep up the good work
