Rough around tthe edges, but still a great game

This is not an easy recommendation but ultimately Worlds has so much good in it that all the "bad" like some frustrating aspects and enemies is outweighed by the Sheer Vibes of most of the worlds (lol) present. Every populated Worlds (lmao) has touches, Small Details and sidequests that are sometimes more appealing than the quests themselves (especially when the quests involve fighting the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spiders Again) It's not a consistent game; everyone is going to be turned off by some aspects but ultimately it's a good offering.
An amazing game made by a very talented lone developer. It's a really unique and immersive experience with a surprisingly great story and gameplay reminiscent of old Metal Gear Solid games.
this game is pretty cool, an odd experience
Hesitant to say I recommend this one... but I enjoyed most of the time I had with it. Consider this an "ehhhhhhhh...." from me. Get it on sale and check it out yourself. Positives: - Hard to describe, but it's a basic immersive sim game with solid stealth elements. There are some nice gameplay details I enjoyed. The gunplay is quite fun. - The home base and how you get paid is quite comfy and enjoyable. - The Worlds (2016) themselves are fun to explore and interact with. - PS2 type visuals and atmosphere. - Runs well (once set up.) Negatives: - The game has a lives system. It's very inconsistent. You use up a life to load from a checkpoint. But if your last checkpoint was a save point, you still use a life, and have to restart the game to load the game without using up a life. - Absolutely horrible platforming. You'll die instantly if you fall off into the void and this'll use up a lot of your lives. 95% of my deaths in this game were falling like that. I do like the death cutscene of your character falling though. Also, unkillable entities show up during one of these and they can pull you a little bit and make you miss jumps. Very, VERY, frustrating. - Some of the puzzles are obtuse and hard to solve. - I can't tell what's intentional and what's a glitch. One time my target ran away from me because i had a gun out, ran out of the building. Never saw him again, but because I saved afterwards (Good practice, with that lives system) I think I might have softlocked myself. Either idiotproof the game, or let me save/load whenever. You only get one save slot by the way. If you're on Linux, you need to run the game once, then set "shaders = 0" in worlds.cfg.
The MGS comparison some other reviewers make is pretty accurate in both the sense that you have stealth mechanics and gadgets but also in the sense that it might subverse your expectations in one way or another. While a bit rough around the edges, I can recommend this to anyone that is trying to scratch that MGS itch.
Worlds is a trippy combination of Metal Gear Solid and Madness Combat. The plot and tone constantly reminded me of E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy, oddly enough. It's fun and it's cheap. Try it out.
This is an early indie gem that came out too soon for widespread success. You can tell it was made by a single dude, but it's genuinely some of the most inspired stealth game I've ever played. Highly recommended game.
