World Hockey '88

Exact modern replica of "Ice Hockey" from the original NES. It plays the same as well, so if you liked that game you will like this. Unfortunately one game into this I remember how difficult it was - not quite what I need right now but nothing against the game!

Game need a overhaul, almost unplayable next to tape to tape or super blood hockey. Controls are garbage, need to be able to bind keys or at least have a list of their controls. Changed setting reverts back every time i play. I returned it, not worth full price at this point. they need to remove zoom, useless and messes up gameplay.

Having a lot of fun with this one. Super nostalgic. I was a boss at nes Ice Hockey back in the day. I've lost my skills in my old age. If you're an old fart like me and grew up with Nes Ice Hockey give this one a try. You won't be disappointed .

Ice Hockey on the NES is one of my favorite retro sports games, and this feels like Ice Hockey Plus. Similar art style (which I like), smoother gameplay, more teams to choose from (not even counting unlockables), variable difficulty levels and speeds so it can grow along with your own skill. I keep coming back to it, even when I want to do other things with my day. I'm not even a sports guy and I'm loving it. Give it a try.

Insanely fun!! Really good arcade style of game play. I especially enjoy the fact that there are various tournaments from various time periods.

[Updated Review - 12/16/25] Developer has been incredibly responsive and has fixed many of the game-breaking issues we previously experienced. Most of the major concerns have been addressed, though there are still a few minor bug fixes and quality of life changes I'd love to see. I'm confident that this game will get the polish it deserves, and if you have any nostalgia for retro hockey games (or just like hockey or sports in general) I would strongly suggest you give this a try. It's fun, easy to pick up, and has a nice blend of casual and skill play.

Addictive! Love the new updates! Would love a custom team editor/name/ colours but I can wait :) great fun from a massive EIHL, NHL and PWHL fan! Keep your eye on the puck at all times :)

fun lil' arcade game , i can see people gettin' addicted to it and playin at a high level at it.... i also deeply love the visual effects and pixel art. five billion people should be playin this perhaps..!

Wonderful game, would love to see some more unlockable teams, possibly even custom teams.
