The game itself looks promising The old school click and select to attack or harvest becomes very frustrating The music is very repetitive and ongoing. The crafting is good but questionable as some things can be crafted without the workbench then the work bench does not really open up anything new. the graphics are nice but nothing amazing. Can run the game on a potato Hosted servers only The price i think is a bit much compared to most the titles of this genre out there i would say worth £5.99 I feel the game is frustrating with the controls and limited keybinds. I saw in a recent review it was worked on for 6 yrs... I feel in six years there should of be a better outcome but alas Early Access. I asked about the mouse pointer being a toggle and the dev said "will think of adding" That has made me feel reassured that the dev has the community at mind. Personally i like it a little but not enough to recommend as there are still improvements that could be introduced. I may change my re buy this game in the future and change my review after i see some updates.
Information / Review English
Woodfel is a Sandbox-Adventure that was developed by L3fty Games and is still in the Early Access Phase, so Errors can still occur. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2485873323
Gameplay / Story
Woodfel, a country that isn't on any map, but it still exists. You are a traveler who discovers new countries and seeks and loves adventure. Your task in Woodfel is to discover the new land and to find all kinds of secrets in a primitive fantasy world, which consists of creatures, monsters and other factions. At the beginning of the game, you give your world a name or create a host game to play with friends. The country consists of hills, forests and valleys and everything has been calm and peaceful, until one day demons rise up and want to devastate it and plunge it into chaos. During your adventure you only want to restore the best for your country and peace. In order to get anywhere in this vast world, we need decent tools. With our bare hands we cut the next tree into kindling. So much of it is processed into boards until we have enough together for a workbench, with which we then make a wooden pickaxe, which in turn - deeper in the mountain - mine iron and other raw materials. Depending on what we want to mine, other tools are recommended. Pickaxes are particularly effective at mining ore, clay, or stone. The shovel is ideal for earthworks, while the ax works best for anything to do with wood. Little by little we get to new objects and building materials from which we can then build a house, an entire city or something completely different. Later you build up a base for protection, look for and manufacture powerful weapons with which you can fight the demons and banish them to hell or make other useful items such as clothing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2485873377
Pro
+ total freedom of action, which arouses the urge to explore + many building options + Combat system, with magical and physical abilities + lots of resources to collect and mine + Boss fights and factions + Price / performance ratio is right + many setting options + Tutorial
Contra
- Control takes a bit of getting used to
Conclusion
At first glance, Woodfel is reminiscent of Minecraft, but scores with its own Flair and Game mechanics. I'm looking forward to what will follow and how the game will continue. You can say that I already enjoyed the game. PS: First of all, many thanks to the developer who provided us with this key for the group. Here you can find more good reviews from others and me at https://store.steampowered.com/curator/26335619-Adult-World-Gamers/ and if you liked the review, then we would appreciate a thumbs up.
Information / Review Deutsch
This game was awesome. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the shanagens we got ourselves into. From killing goblins my dad calls "shreks" to fighting the big red demon boss. I also loved the crafting system where you need to find recipes that would then add those item to your crafting capabilities. Defiantly recommend this game to anyone who wants some good casual fun.
Bought this during the sale and I really wanted to like it but the controls are really weird. Just too hard to get used to for me. They can be changed, I believe, but I think full controller support would help. Keeping it, because I'm hoping for eventual better controller support and/or better movement controls. Otherwise it seems very cute. I'd say get it on sale.
not worth $15
Woodfel, the game that was promised an open world sandbox with 2 factions for you to meet, on a closer look though it is hardly the case. To start a majority of crafting items are locked behind story or random drops from bosses meaning you can NOT learn them on your own. To make this even more of an issue the quests themselves will have you going to random spots everywhere around the map and some times even to long distances which can be very frustrating if you was to fail a quest and it spawns else where speaking of that the quest enemies are spawned like fates from FFXIV and you have a certain time limit, if you do not have the right items on you the enemy will beat you up in 1 to 2 hits and considering the only real rewarding factor is the quests and drops themselves you have no way of going outside of the story or to craft this stuff on your own to stand a chance, and if you take too long or if you can not do it they will not spawn back in for a long period of time The story itself honestly shouldn't be a requirement and shouldn't be forced just to get around as minecraft the inspiration for this game you can craft 1st and prepare before doing any real content and the same goes for other MMO's too they give you the basic gear to advance while also putting up a gameplay challenge that is fair and while this game is not an MMO the way it forces you to play and start it honestly feels very much like one The world itself is very barren with only 2 biomes which is desert and grass, no other biomes exist and even if they did it wouldn't matter as their is little to NO variety about them such as lack of structures lack of weather and lack of pretty much everything, even in the worst game ever the biomes have properties weather and structures to make them the biomes that they are in the game. The crafting system is extremely broken and i couldn't find any help on this, for example lets say you need a crafting recipe that requires 2 iron ingots to make, you get the ore for it and then bring it to a furnace and when you put charcoal in or wood it does not make the said item in fact nothing gets made at all making it to where you can't progress due to a feature that is not complete and considering this game has NOT had a major update since 2023 i do not think this will be fixed or explained and the community for this game is dead already unfortunately so no help faction structures and towns i was never able to find i saw on the server that they spawned but they felt too far away and too few and the Demonfolk attacks you on sight so there is really no way to do their side quests without either killing alot of woodfolk which only give you 5 points per kill (not even worth the grind) or going through a long story that will halt your progress because you can't craft the basic stuff just to get ahead such as armor or better weapons to face the tougher bosses overall this game tries to be a minecraft clone of an MMO and from the lack of care over the years it is an unfinished game that needs alot of work cause at the moment its features feel like something you can just code into minecraft as a mod and just be done with it. It doesn't need its own game if it is going to be left like this and it does not need a forced story as a sandbox should be giving you freedom to both play and build with optional side quest story for the factions not keeping you stuck with one way to play the game with the feature of building where ever you like otherwise its just a wannabe themepark MMO with more steps added onto it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUnt-W3FtJk You grind bosses, and it's pretty fun with the gear progression and new mobs that show up. Go in with some buddies, there are also a lot of items to craft, and you can build all you want! Try it, it's so cheap.
This game is very clearly a labour of love. The developer spent over 6 years making the game and it shows. Vibrant, colourful graphics, endearing characters and very polished mechanics and controls. I will submit a more fully featured review later on as I have not played the game for long yet, but rest assured you will not regret buying this game. A steal at its current price.
