About
Swords 'n Magic and Stuff is a cozy, cooperative, open world RPG centered around the joy of discovery.
Start your journey as a hopeful hero on their way to Tirawyn, a land of adventure. But along the way your ship is boarded by an orc warband and you're thrown into a dungeon with your childhood friend. Escape your captors and head out into a large open world to write your own story.

Swords 'n Magic and Stuff is all about exploration and adventure. Explore a densely packed, hand-crafted, open world and reignite your sense of discovery as you uncover new secrets around every corner.
Go it alone or bring along all of your friends in a cooperative online multiplayer experience featuring a simple multiplayer lobby system or host your own dedicated server. With locally saved characters, you carry your progress to your friends' servers so you never have to start over.

Who says cozy RPG's can't have depth? Swords 'n Magic's combat system is fluid, fun and action focused. Strafe, dodge, parry and attack without ever being rooted in place.
Combat is based around 6 different classes you can level up independently by simply using the different weapons tied to them. Dual wield any weapons you like and mix and match your gear to fine tune your playstyle. Become a splash potion-slinging rogue, a necromancer warrior, or even a bardic healer. The limit is your own creativity.

Swords 'n Magic and Stuff offers over 1500 unique items to discover and collect as you adventure through the world.
Dig through piles of dirt to discover bait for fishing, seeds for planting or magic cubes for donating to evil cults. Discover new chests each day with a randomized, respawning chest system that ensures you've always got new loot to plunder as you explore.
And the best part? All the loot is local to you, so you never have to fight over it with your friends.

Swords 'n Magic has hundreds of quests. Some quests are fetch quests, some are kill quests and some require you to lure hundreds of angry bees into the arms of a bee fanatic for a big, cozy bee hug.
Discover loads of secret quests by reading stashed away books, stumbling through hidden doors or paying close attention to the hundreds of NPC's all with unique dialog. Questing in Swords 'n Magic is as much of an adventure as anything else and it's not always laid out directly in front of you.

No RPG would be complete without the ability to craft. Swords 'n Magic and Stuff offers several crafting skills to level up, including blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring, cooking, farming and alchemy.
Discover new recipes by leveling up your craft, visiting different shops, looting chests or completing quests. Harvest resources with tools, pick plants and herbs, start a farming empire or enjoy the simple life fishing on the local pond.

Discover plots of land for sale scattered all around Tirawyn. Buy one (or all of them) and stake your claim to your own little safe haven. Use blueprints for buildable structures to construct your first home, or design it from the ground up.
With a grid-free decoration system, you can freely decorate your plots however you see fit with hundreds of unique collectible furniture items. Want to cover your entire house in gems? Build a museum to show off rare items? Design a tavern for you and your friends to come back to after an adventure? Go for it.

Cozy game designed TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS. yet there is no quest sync or party system for the hundreds of quests thats in the game. a Co-op game without the most basic Co-op features. Played with friends and we lost track of eachothers progress within the first hour. The Gameplay is ok, artstyle is quite nice and it runs well on steamdeck. Combat is also decent, but progression is kinda annoying with a bit of back and forth trying to level up various things in a runescape like manner. I have only played the first island post tutorial/demo and so far it feel more like a fetch quest spam fest.
Swords 'n Magic and Stuff, developed and published by Kindred Games, is a relaxed open-world RPG that prioritizes freedom, exploration, and player-driven experiences over rigid structure or high-stakes progression. Set in the vibrant land of Tirawyn, the game invites you to carve out your own path, whether that means following a loose main quest, diving into side activities, or simply wandering the world in search of hidden secrets. It presents itself less as a traditional narrative-driven adventure and more as a sandbox where curiosity is constantly rewarded. The most striking aspect of the game is how open-ended it feels. There is a main storyline to follow, but it rarely demands your attention. Instead, the world is filled with distractions—side quests, hidden locations, collectibles, and small interactions that encourage you to explore at your own pace. This design creates a natural sense of discovery, where progress often comes from stumbling upon something unexpected rather than following a clearly marked path. It’s the kind of experience where you might set out with a specific goal in mind, only to spend hours doing something entirely different. Combat is designed to be flexible and accessible rather than deeply technical. Players are free to equip different weapons in each hand, mix melee attacks with ranged options or magic, and experiment with combinations that suit their preferred style. There is no rigid class system, allowing your character to develop organically based on how you play. While this approach encourages experimentation, the combat itself remains fairly simple, lacking the depth or precision found in more action-focused RPGs. It serves its purpose within the broader experience but rarely becomes a standout feature. Beyond combat, the game offers a wide range of activities that contribute to its sandbox nature. Crafting, farming, cooking, and resource gathering all play a role in shaping your experience, giving you multiple avenues for progression outside of fighting enemies. These systems are easy to engage with and add a layer of personalization, allowing you to build a home, manage resources, or focus on more peaceful pursuits. While none of these mechanics are particularly complex on their own, together they create a sense of a living world where there is always something to do. One of the game’s strongest features is its cooperative multiplayer. Exploring Tirawyn with friends adds a new dimension to the experience, turning it into a shared adventure where players can tackle quests together, experiment with different activities, or simply enjoy the world at their own pace. The ability to carry progression between sessions makes it easy to jump in and out of cooperative play without losing momentum, reinforcing the game’s casual and flexible design. Visually, Swords 'n Magic and Stuff embraces a stylized aesthetic that emphasizes charm over realism. The environments are colorful and inviting, with a simple but effective design that makes exploration enjoyable. While the graphics are not particularly detailed, they complement the game’s tone, creating a world that feels approachable and easy to navigate. There is a certain warmth to the presentation that aligns well with the game’s laid-back atmosphere. However, the game’s open-ended nature can also lead to a lack of direction. Without strong guidance or clearly defined objectives, some players may find themselves unsure of what to do next. Progression can feel uneven, and the absence of escalating challenges may reduce the sense of accomplishment over time. Additionally, as an Early Access title, it still shows signs of being a work in progress, with occasional bugs and systems that lack refinement. Despite these issues, Swords 'n Magic and Stuff succeeds in delivering a unique kind of RPG experience—one that values freedom and creativity over structure and intensity. It doesn’t aim to compete with more polished or complex titles, but instead offers a space where players can relax, explore, and engage with the world on their own terms. The combination of exploration, light systems, and cooperative play creates an experience that is easy to enjoy, even if it doesn’t always provide a strong sense of direction. In the end, Swords 'n Magic and Stuff is best appreciated as a cozy sandbox adventure that continues to evolve. Its charm lies in its openness and the variety of activities it offers, making it a great fit for players who enjoy taking their time and discovering things at their own pace. While its lack of depth and polish may hold it back from broader appeal, it remains a rewarding experience for those who value freedom and exploration above all else. Rating: 8/10
Really really great game. You can tell that the developers have a lot of passion for this project. Regular updates. a community that's engaged and helpful, A very active and helpful discord. I've had a lot of fun playing this. Lots of areas to explore. Lots of quests. Interesting characters and bosses. I cannot recommend this game enough and really think you should give this game a shot. You will not be disappointed!
Games cool as hell little bit animal crossing, little bit old school zelda, little bit wobbly life. its a good mix.
The fact that I have put over six hundred hours into a game that's still in early access should speak for itself. But if it doesn't, Swords n' Magic and Stuff is a very fun RPG with cute, coherent visual design, some genuinely funny writing, and a balance of accessibility and focus on player exploration. There's enough diversity in the existing elements to keep you busy for a while (as my playtime will attest) while also hinting at the truly impressive scope planned for 1.0. Even if the game were to stop updating today, it would be well worth the money, and you owe it to yourself to at least check out the demo.
This game has a lot going for it and not a lot of attention. Solo dev slowly making their way through a checklist of features and content. Features: a large open world, crafting, mount/pets, skill leveling, random loot, in-game seasonal events, secret quests and boss fights
Interesting and fun games for people like me who enjoy MMO. Pro: Almost everything is fun, exploring, gathering, housing etc etc Cons: I would like to see some abilities linked to each weapon but i could settle for at least a heavy attack for each weapon. Would make combat more enjoyable in the long term.
Absolute gem. I hope the developers continue working on this game and making it even better. I highly recommend it if you enjoy games of this genre.
It's goofy, cozy, and doesn't hold your hand to explore all the hidden quests or things you can do. Adore it.
This game is awesome. I can already tell how much time I'll be spending playing, and decorating my home. I really hope more content will be released in the future.
