About
Liminal Lane is a short, single player, first person, atmospheric walking simulator.
A nostalgic, surreal experience exploring Liminal Spaces.
Uncover the secrets of Liminal Lane and escape the Lucid Dreams and Haunting Nightmares.
The Game features many different linear and unique Liminal levels with some puzzles and escape areas.
Explore themes of Childhood Nostalgia, Teenage Years, The Office Grind, Family Holidays and being alone.
Each level is either a trip down memory lane or a fall into madness.
Why not just relax in some areas and watch tv?
The game features some very old 1920s and 30s public domain cartoons and movies.
There may also be a classic movie reference or two.
The game has an emotional narrative that will reveal itself once the player has completed their journey.
The Game also features many of my original Oil paintings throughout.

Liminal Lane has No Save System but is a short experience.
As a solo developer this is my first game, for anyone who follows my channel Ravenhome knows my huge interest in the Backrooms and Liminal spaces, so I'm very excited to have developed my own Liminal Space themed game:) Many thanks

Alright. Liminal Lane is done and dusted. Although my playtime was about 40 minutes, I took time to watch the cartoons available on a couple of the televisions in the game. If you choose not to do so, then it's probably a 30–35-minute experience. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760056505 While this is definitely a liminal space/megastructure type walking sim, the developer is definitely a movie fan and there are Easter Eggs all over the place in this game. Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan, Office Space, Boogie Nights, Jaws, Apocalypse Now and more (it's possible that I miss my mark on some of these and they're actually from different movies though, lol). The more you look for them, the more you are likely to find. I thought that was a fun aspect of the game that I didn't expect to find here. There are also some quirky moments such as the tiny door and the arcade game cabinet. It appears that the developer is also a painter, and there are quite a few awesome paintings decorating the various levels. Definitely take some time to check them out rather than just running past them. It's worthwhile, and at least one also provides the solution to a puzzle in the game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760056379 Beyond that, this is a game clearly inspired by the level design of various liminal spaces games, so you get a massive office building, some poolrooms areas, the placid neighborhood areas, etc... However, while this is a monster-free experience, it's not necessarily a horror-free experience, and there are a number of areas that introduce some disturbing elements to the game. Which was a welcome addition in my opinion. It adds just enough tension to give you a sense that not all is well, and as such, you're not simply wandering through weird levels. Instead, you're also travelling through what may be a nightmare, or maybe the nightmare is a reflection of your actual reality. You'll have to play it to find out, lol. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760056290 There are definitely some interesting ideas at play here and I think it's worthwhile to experience not only for the liminal spaces concept, but also for the artwork, horror concepts, pop culture references, and the cartoons that can be enjoyed. There's actual more depth to this game than I would have imagined. On top of that, the price seems fine at two bucks, although it has and likely will be on sale for 79 cents, so there's always that. In my opinion, it's worth a look. I REALLY enjoyed this one. Bought it tonight and played it through tonight! (It's 3:37am!!!) Very much enjoyed and if you like this kind of thing, very recommended! I enjoy walking sims in any case, and I love the creepy, empty feel of these spaces. Like old dusty corners in the back of your mind. Definitely worth a play. :)
🔷REVIEW🔷I'm giving the developer a thumbs up because there's potential, even if this game looks cheap and meh. ✅During the (short) time I played this walking simulator, I had a strange feeling. Everything looked weird. The graphics are a mix of polished modern graphics and old-school PS2-style geometric graphics, with some visuals reminiscent of early PC games from the early 90s. I even felt like some textures were missing. It was unusual, and thinking of it, it's a pretty good idea: it fits perfectly with the intention of wandering in liminal spaces. That's the reason why I gave a thumbs up: because this is the first time I see something like this in a game. There are some good ideas regarding the different areas. The music is well chosen, but I didn't like the noises (applause, cheers, children, etc.). That said, the alarm really freaked me out. ❌I experienced a brief freeze every time I moved from one section to another (performance issues?). Also, note that apart from walking there is nothing to do (no notes to read, no code to find...). Shadows and lights lack optimization. You cannot rebind keys (WASD and E). ⏱️It is very short (25 minutes). I bought it on sale.
A simple, short, but excellent liminal space experience. Definitely recommend
Glitchy, no story (even for a liminal spaces/backrooms game, it's pretty sparse in the story-telling aspect), no pause (I don't care if your game is under an hour to play, I dictate my time use, not how you feel your game should be played), the music doesn't fit the mood, and the visuals are just on the edge of good, but not quite there. It is, however, only two dollars, but I got bored mere moments in.
i like how surreal it is but other than that this game is kinda mid
This game made me feel something.
This appears to be a project someone made while learning the tools. It's exceptionally basic but the areas have good ambient sounds chosen and the environments possess alright direction. But immersion is often lost due to common mistakes. Giving a negative review as while I enjoyed the direction I can't recommend this to buy as it feels more like someone’s personal tutorial project than a walking sim / game. Or at least a first draft.
for 2 bucks, this is a good liminal game! Im not sure if the creator is an older person, but this game definitely feels like you are travelling through the life of a person who grew up in the 50s-70s (hence the cutouts). This frames the game so that it feels liminal, but also give a disconnect. This and the other game both have this feel. BUT FROM THEIR UNIQUE STYLE MAKES THEIR GAMES INTERESTING. this person does their own interesting take on the liminal genre and you're either here for it or you arent. I recomend it based on price alone.
A very nostalgiacore liminal space walking sim
