I would wholeheartedly recommend this game. There's a lot to love, even with the natural short comings of the games engine, which the game even manages to mitigate by weaving into it's overall narrative. The story and characters are fascinating, and the world building is amazing. The most common con for an rpg maker game is usually the combat, but I'll say Wooden Oceans combat is straight up fun, not even just 'okay' which is usually about the best you can ask for. It's not quite a puzzle, but you can't simply spam attacks and win against enemies at or above your level, and have to plan how to best utilize your characters skills to even the playing field especially on the higher difficulties. My biggest recommendation for maximum enjoyment of the game is to read every book you can and talk to every character (sometimes multiple times) to really reveal what's going on in the game. It's not quite a mystery, I think the game is fairly transparent about the overall outline of what's going on, but you will need to fill in a lot of the gaps that the main story doesn't explain to you. The game is also still being updated, As of this review it looks like another fairly decently sized update is planned for next month. We've already had new elements (skill trees you choose 2 of at the start of a New Game), towns and a lot of balance patches among other things added since I bought the game 2 years ago. Overall, a very romantic game. Murda!

После прохождения игры на НГ+++ и посещения психиатра эта игра стала сниться мне почти каждый день. 10/10

Wooden Ocean is a game. But in all realness, this game has left a permanent mark on my life. Never would I have thought I'd be adding the word murda to my vocabulary, or any of the other nonsense this game throws at you. I remember finding this game by chance and buying it expecting a fairly normal Dark RPG, I was pleasantly surprised when the main character threw out her first of many F-bombs. Wooden Ocean is a hidden gem you can truly only experience once. I've only been playing this game for 8 months, but with the amount of content, I felt like I've known this game for a century. Wooden Ocean will continue to influence my mind for as long as I live, and to that I am forever thankful. (Also do not choose your elements randomly like I foolishly did)

I first got into this game from all the memes of Giant Fs my friends showed me and also because I saw a speedrun that seemed cool. I tried reproducing it and couldn't, and, curious, dove into the discord where I found out that there had been a murda and no one had been running for four months and everyone is playing Zakuzaku Actors instead. 10/10 game
