Reviews
Witchy Tower is a pretty good take on the "Icy Tower" gameplay loop, though i'll note that Witchy Tower DOESN'T feature a replay system, at least not as of writing this, which might be a deal breaker for some. Witchy Tower features cute graphics, two game modes and six unlockable characters, as well as the ability to add your own character like the original Icy Tower, and you can also fully rebind your controls if you don't like the defaults. The controls aren't as smooth as I see mentioned in other reviews, but they're not bad. Navigating horizontally is mostly responsive however there are several occasions when you're clearly on a platform and the jump just doesn't register, doesn't matter if you're on keyboard or controller, and jumping too quickly can penalize your momentum. -- Witchy Tower also doesn't allow "hold to rejump" like the original Icy Tower, so you have to press the button each time meaning in some situations where you need a frame-perfect escape, you'll just fall. The width of the tower can also feel too wide at times, depending on how the platforms spawn, and jumps where the platforms are quite literally on opposite ends of each other aren't possible with how momentum works in this game, so you're better off avoiding them. --- Back in the early 2010s, Icy Tower had a port for the Nokia Meego phone that featured an overly wide tower, and the game was pretty much unplayable because of it. -- The width of the tower in this game is almost similar, just slightly smaller, so Witchy Tower has some of the same issues that terrible port had; games like this should have a more box-like play field rather than rectangle, granted Witchy Tower isn't actually impossible like that port, but it does remove some of the enjoyment. The first of two modes in this game, Witchy Mode, is very interesting because you have to balance skillful jumps, collecting money, buying power ups and dodge hazards all while doing combos and escaping a death laser from a lady with bouncy breasts. Throughout the tower, you'll find green stars littered around that you can collect to purchase perks from Star Witches in the tower, and they appear at random as you ascend; Some of the perks are a simple purchase while other Star Witches have a 'meter' that can be charged with extra money by holding down the CONFIRM button; This adds a unique dynamic to the game because purchases, and charging the meter, is not quick.. you have to wait for each star spent to leave your wallet and each Star Witch also has a unique animation that needs to play before you get your purchase, so you have to strategically decide if you WANT to spend for the power, if you WANT to charge the meter and also if you even HAVE TIME to charge at all since you're trying to escape a death laser, and like Icy Tower, the game will get faster as the clock ticks down so trying to get power-ups late into the gameplay will become very difficult and you'll have to rely on jumping skill. Power ups range from being thrown high up, to a triple air jump, a one-time shield against hazards and also a black heart that will one-time protect your from the death laser; there is also a Star Witch who will give you free money and a 'x2' wallet multiplier that you can pick up; Aside from the death beam, the hazards include several gizmos that will temporarily freeze you on ice, a bounce-pad gizmo (all directions!) and a electric-thing that will steal your money, if you touch it. In my original review, I criticized having to wait for each individual green star to leave your wallet and I still feel this way, at least for purchases that don't have a charge meter, and I also still wish you didn't have to wait for each character's animation after making a purchase; Maybe it would be better if they did the animation during the purchase and not after? Classic mode is like the original Icy Tower, it's all about combos and jumping skill... while still avoiding a death laser. No powerups, no hazards.. just you and the boob lady. While witchy mode is much more enjoyable to me now that the developer has reached out and explained you can charge Star Witches' meters, there's something to be said about the classics and I'm glad this mode exists. simple and fun. Witchy Tower is a great game with some issues, but well worth your time especially for the price, and it has achievements if you care for that. -- lot's of fun to be had here.

So, uhhh I was just passing through and I came in with zero expectation. And this is pretty nice. I'm not a reviewer, but I'm a yapper, so I'm just gonna start yelling into the clouds with mumbo jumbo here. It's an adorable, sincere little game that knows what it is and isn't too ambitious. A fun time-killer with a little bit of a story(?) during the introduction. Colorful cast of characters(hello, shark and purple lady). And I see there's a whole over-arching narrative going on here with the Redstar Messiah, Star Witches, crazy McLady(Esperanza) with giant pink laser and the infinite tower of avoidable consequences. and Colored Shards and whatnot, interesting. The gameplay feels very slippery smooth, nice and simple. And it reminds me of the obvious Shovel Knight, Ice Climber and for some reason, Balloon Fight. It probably was the slippery floor. I like how you could bounce off the wall and such. Pretty neat way to parkour. Some enemies that's just out here trying to make your life harder could actually come into clutch and help you escape death if you play your cards right, and I love that. especially the bouncy one and the ice one. Though, the lack of introduction on the mechanics in the first playthrough could be a bit of a stunt grenade. Or should I say, the lack of button overlay and information, I guess? Overall, the controls are simple enough to learn as you play. So there's no problem with that. For now what bugs me is the lack of information provided. like that little box of texts that tells you what power-ups or help do the Friendly Star Witches provide when you accept their help. There's no telling what these powers do to help aside from the ones that throw you up. Or the lack of any indication for how to unlock the other characters i guess. And I think [strike]Kessendra[/strike] (Esperanza) or whatever kinda catch up really fast even when I pick up speed which is a little jarring. Or is she so pissed the elevator moves faster? I dunno. And I'm still not sure what the clock on the left is for. As for the art, mi piace. Very adorable. Very quirky. Some....a lil sexy. Anyway, that's all I could think of at the moment. Alas, I would be afraid of being seen as greedy and asking for too much here. Also, kudos for custom character template. It's very cheap so there's no reason not to get it if you like a speedy platformer to kill time with. Glad I gave it a chance. As an artist who's also working on a videogame project with friends, I shall be playing this while discording. Alas, Kesselina is very adorable. Thank you.
I is simple man. I like jumpy. Jokes aside, it's made with care and love. It's cute, weird, but most importantly, it's a fun game.
addicting game, slick controls and feels good to play
a fun jumping game that test your speed , timing and precision that feels a bit like a mix of mario and caslevania fun too play and simple too understand
fun game, reminds me of Icy tower from my childhood i like the fun little animations and the little details like the static noise when you pause and the static flicker. its a fun way to kill time, easy enough to play fast but hard enough to really sink some time in and have to master the skill of flying through the floors XD
Simple but fun! Worth the cost of entry.
Didn't expect to get this hooked, tbh. Feels like one of those indie surprises that just clicks. Looks simple at first sight, but while it's easy to play, can still feel tough to master. I found the gameplay smooth and I’d say controls feel responsive overall. As for visuals, they struck me as quite cute and colourful. You depart from several characters to choose from and you get to unlock a bunch of new ones as you make progress. It's also cool to have two slightly different playing modes, so you can shift between both depending on your mood. Music is energetic and pretty much helps keeping up with the proper pace for the way up. Just like with music, combos make you stay focused to try to reach a bit higher. Honestly, it’s one of those games you tell yourself you’ll play for 10min and suddenly you realise it’s 2am and you’re still trying to beat your own best score.. relatively easy to lose track of time while on it!
Witchy Tower is an incredibly fun and addictive arcade game that gives off classic Icy Tower vibes. The gameplay is fast-paced and challenging, keeping you hooked as you aim to climb higher and higher. The simple yet engaging mechanics make it easy to pick up, but hard to put down! One of the highlights is the fantastic soundtrack-it's perfectly crafted to set the mood and enhance the experience. If you love retro-style games with great music and endless replayability, Witchy Tower is a must-try! Another feature I really enjoyed is the ability to add your own custom characters to the game. It adds a personal touch and makes the game even more fun and unique!
