About
Gin - The Silver Wind is a retro inspired platformer that features its own take on classic controls seen in games from the late 80s and early 90s. Take control of Gin and plan your jumps with precision as you wind through stages filled with tight platforming sections and deadly hazards!

This game features a jumping movement similar to certain old-school classics, having a fixed arch. Master the double jump in order to maneuver through the stages and successfully avoid enemies and hazards as you plan your position and landing beforehand.

Gin can attack with his blade to cut through enemies and objects with the power of the wind. You can also use your blade to hook onto surfaces, allowing you to climb walls and help you out in a pinch.

Use your tornado ability to leap forward as you become immune to any harm while slicing any enemies that get in your way or use it as an extra option for maneuvering mid-air.
Combining different timing and type of jumps as well as the use of your tornado can lead to different results of movement. Be creative!

Dealing damage to enemies fills up your Strain Circle, fill it up and activate Strain Mode to speed up the use of the tornado. Master all of Gin's tools and become as nimble as the Silver Wind himself!

Absolute cinema. You ever want to play a fusion of Castlevania, Contra, and Mega Man? One that's way more difficult than all of those? This is the game for you. Don't let the first level fool you - the difficulty in this ramps up beyond what you could ever imagine, but in a way where you always feel like you're getting better the more you play. Levels have rankings to them, and I encourage you to try getting the highest rank on all of them - you'll have a Hell of a time! I've finished the main game (and now postgame), and it's wild. You can't control your jump while you're in midair, but you're able to dash around on a limited basis, allowing for surprising maneuverability. The stages all have rankings for getting through them fast and without deaths, giving a huge amount of replayability. The bosses all kick ass and are probably the highlight of Gin for me. The graphics are adorable, the music is catchy and upbeat, the challenge is through the roof. What more could you want?
this game's badass. if you're like me and you played the demo and thought "this game seems cool but too easy" don't worry it will stop being too easy very soon. i want to kiss gin on the mouth
I had waited a very long time for this game's release, especially after the demo a couple years back. Totally worth it, it's very fun and very challenging but in a pretty fair and balanced way. Getting used to the jumps and controls makes every death feel more like you messed up rather than the game cheated or did something unfair. And while it is on the short side, the replay value is high for getting a better time and rank on each stage or practicing the levels. Once you unlock one it remains available, so you don't have to do it all at once, and you get unlimited continues. If you love NES hard difficulty games, love classic Mega Man or Ninja Gaiden, love pixel graphics and action platformers, you definitely should get this game. The small indie team behind it will appreciate your support, and it can help lead to more from them in the future, which I can hardly wait to see. Amazing game, so much personality and character in the animations and characters, and feels so satisfying when you start to get better and improve.
An unapoligetically retro game, from the visual, music, difficulty, and also the QoL features. The graphic and the music is great. While the game might look difficult with aerial restriction, they actually give you one ability to freely move in any direction which allows some degree of freedom in how you get through these challenges
Awesome game!
The first game from the promising new studio Jackal In A Box! Gin the Silver Wind is a love letter to the classic "Nintendo Hard" era of games. It starts out easy enough, but gets harder as time goes on. The platforming mechanics are smooth and the pace of the game is pretty consistent. The devs knew how to balance difficulty with good risk/reward moments throughout levels. Things feel very tight and very solid! The real charm of this game though, in my opinion, is the characters, music, and art. Enemies are inspired, yet unique. With excellent sprite work in the animations, backgrounds, and cutscenes. A serious character with moments of sillyness when damage is taken or you get a gameover/timeout. The music is really nice and fits each level and are very inspired! This is definitely a promising start and I cannot wait to see what else this studio does down the road. Here's to the devs on their first launch!
Remarkably solid Super Ghouls n Ghosts sort of game, and it has the difficulty that comes with that. You have a health bar, but the checkpoints are pretty sparse. You get 5 lives per level? I'll write something more elaborate once i've gotten further in the game, (atm i just got my teeth kicked in by boss 2), but for now it's a Real Videogame and it's cool. I'm pleasantly surprised, check it out!
This is platformer that will give you a challenge. With movement that you get used to and easy to understand, but so far with my time (even when I played the demo), is hard to master. Pulling off certain movements successfully and clearing certain parts fastly is a super rewarding feeling. Level design is good and the boss fights that I have encountered so far have been super cool. If you like platformers, don't turn your eye from this game.
Ótimo jogo de plataforma old school, tipo Castlevania e Ninja Gaiden, com uma boa curva de dificuldade.
A fantastic and nostalgic throwback to the Megaman-style games of the 80s/90s, GIn combines adorable characters, cool aesthetics and punishing difficulty to create an endearing, challenging experience that will leave you wanting to push yourself harder and harder the more you play - highly recommend if you like a challenge!
