Unique combination of Visual Novel & Tower Defense with addictive gameplay.
Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc 2. The nice sequel from Winged Sakura's 1st game(2014) is finally released! Of course, like the phrase introduced in its Steam store, you do not have to play its previous game first. This new game is based on tower defense with visual novel elements. It is simple but strategic and addictive. Besides, this game is full of cute things! The game introduction is mostly consistent with what is kindly described on its Steam Store page. Tutorials are available at the start of the game and you can learn basic gameplay through it. The game menu includes profile, story mode, free battle, shop, and so on. In the profile you can see information about your character units, equipment and skills. The characters are represented by SD 2D Live, and in the case of the Unique Hero with affection levels. The higher the affection, the better the hero unit's performance, and the profile image changes more lovingly. In the shop items are available for upgrading your units, and rewards can be obtained through Story Mode or Free Battle. Some grinding is required in this process. When the story mode is complete, additional content opens after the ending. It includes infinite battle mode.
Pros:

Cute Anime Artworks
Simple But Strategic
Tower Defense / Visual Novel
Cons:

Some Grinding Required
Messy UI & Description
No Character Voice Support

*Conclusion: Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc 2. It's the nice sequel from Winged Sakura's 1st game. Overall, it is better than its previous one. Graphics and game systems have been improved, and the fusion of visual novel and tower defense is interesting. And depending on the player's preference, you can control the difficulty of the stage level as well. If character voices were supported, it would be a better game. Of course, it is still a fun game worth trying. Score: 8/10 *The review score criteria from Nyanco Channel will be rated according to game price, genre, early access, and so on. Summary: An addictive Tower Defense game with progression system/visual novel/fantasy/comedy elements. Features cute artwork, multiple playable characters. Has steam cards and achievements. About: - the game: Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc 2 is a Tower Defense game with progression system/visual novel/fantasy/comedy elements made with Unity by Winged Sakura Games. This is the sequel of Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc, released 4 years ago. The store page claims that It is not necessary to play the prequel to enjoy this game, however, is highly recommended to play being able to understand better the story. Estimated playtime: 15 hrs. - story: differently from the prequel, Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc 2 has a more visual novel approach, with fewer battles comparing with the prequel. After Mindy´s manage to complete her training (prequel), she was called to join the Hysteria army and defends against an invasion by other countries. Unfortunately, the ending is pretty anti-climatic, and was not left clear whether will have a sequel or will ends here. - gameplay: differently from the prequel, instead of summoning spirits, now you will summon cute soldiers with specific classes (gunner, sniper, tank, mage, paladin, etc) to defend/ attack your enemies. The battle style is almost the same, checking their cooldown, summon the unit, craft/ upgrade gear, use skills, etc; the good news is dont need to train and increase your units level. Once you finish the game, like the prequel, will unlock survival mode; this is a post-game content and will not affect the storyline, however, you can get new units and upgrade more your items; only play if you want challenges or get the achievement. - artwork: good, with some few fan service this time. Personally, I think the prequel artwork is better than the current one, the latter is more chubby. - soundtrack: not bad. - va: unfortunately, not present. - performance: had to lock the FPS or will go wild. Using a Vega 56. Conclusion: Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc 2 is a tower defense game with a more visual novel approach plus a pretty anti-climatic ending. Recommended for those that already played the prequel, fans of WINGED SAKURA GAMES or if you like tower defense games.
Good game! 8/10 Better than the first part in all aspects. Pros: - interesting plot; - nice art; - funny characters; - unique tower-defence gameplay; - adequate grind. Cons: - not the most convenient interface; - there is no acceleration of the animation during the battles.
This game is terrible in every aspect. Dont waste your time on it.
While I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, Mindy's Arc 2 satisfyingly scratches that Tower Defense-RPG itch in a way only games like Gemcraft, Dungeon Warfare, and a few others manage. I enjoy numbers and breaking things, robust customization, crafting and grinding--not the TD games where the only upgrades are a single Skill Tree with the depth of a child's swimming pool. While I'm not a huge fan of visual novels (and thus have little investment in the plot), everything else is a thumbs up from me.
I personally prefer WSMA 1 far more than WSMA 2 including the UI. The most annoying thing I feel in WSMA 2 is that the shop, and rewards items are in a vertical list but you can’t scroll them, I need to move my cursor to those little prev next button every time Other thing is the multiple power assign, 2 units can be assigned with the same power but only in the specific order, like I need to move my unit to do this, thus changing the hotkey that I’m already used to, one of the solution is changing the hotkey from options but this still change the unit order layout in gameplay so it makes it more confusing. The menu is also too simple, even simpler than WSMA 1, I mean I expected a better version of WSMA 1 but all I’m getting are texts treated as buttons in the game. The UI transition is also very lacking, from what I know UI transition should be easy to make and make things a lot better. The story flow too, I really like linear story line like in WSMA 1 and WSDCW simple and good, where the story is connected to the stages but here it’s separated, it’s better than WSED but still why not make it like WSMA 1. The art inconsistency with WSMA 1. I don’t even recognize the characters, am I really playing the same ones? The difference is too far, and what’s up with the chubby character in dialogue with serious theme? The game’s too hard and not very variative like WSMA1. The game’s too hard and it’s really hard to progress even with just normal difficulty (I’m an experienced player with 60 hours in WSMA 1 who cleared all hard without grinding). The higher difficulty is also very very not rewarding, it’s just increasing the chance for 1 item and worse is it’s just increasing the chance for the next battle, meaning your battle now is useless unless you play it again in easy after that. This system is so weird

Wasn't terrible; I had fun for a while, but the longer you play, the more you notice its flaws. The story is interesting but I didn't like the way it was written. I also can't help to think about the kitchen nightmares meme whenever someone says "Nino". The gameplay is fine, but has very little variety; in the end, you basically use the same formation of Sniper -> Mage -> Gunner -> Guardian. Any other combination just doesn't work. Normal mode has some very dumb difficulty spikes, but the chapter 5 one with the boss just made me pack it. Too strong, and there's constant healers behind her that basically refills her hp before you can even react. Could I have lowered the difficulty? Sure, but again, the spike is so bad that in easy mode you can put down literally random stuff and get away with it. Should I have grinded? Sure, but the following stage would just be a repeat of the previous with the exact same problems.
