After a depressing multiple choice text prologue where I met a girl screaming in pain from a twisted ankle, carried her to the hospital, married her, refused to have kids with her, bought a dog instead and then watched the inconsiderate ♥♥♥♥♥ die from a brain tumour even after I'd sold my car and all my worldly possessions to pay for her treatment or a new brain or for the dog's brain to be swapped into her body via dread ritual, I was just about ready to shoot something. Then the actual game started up and there was the dog. Staring at me. Reminding me of my wife and her screaming at me to get out of the hospital ward, after the hours I put into my "THE AMAZING DOG-BRAINED WOMAN: Our Future as a Travelling Freakshow" presentation. I sank a bottle of whiskey and sent his rubber ball sailing into the woods, my rifle readied for his return. He eventually came back without the ball by which point I was sober. Ashamed, I attempted to kill a bird instead. The bullet passed straight through it as it slowly flew away. Two more landed exactly where it had been in tandem, as if to mockingly suggest that I'd not be able to hit either of them. They were correct. Soon, the game asked me to hunt and kill a deer. I drove the perimeter of the map twice but there was no deer. Dehydrated and disorientated, I stumbled through the woods waiting for death to take me but the developers hadn't properly implemented that feature yet so my thirst meter simply lingered at its parched minimum, refusing to finish the job. I came across a barn, found a cow. "Surely they will allow a compromise," I thought. "Surely cows are known as the deer of the farmyard in some backward rural dialect somewhere." They are not. I was punished for ever thinking so by the inventory menu locking me into itself and refusing to let me out. There is a perfectly functional low-budget survival game brewing somewhere beyond this premature build of When They Arrived- too premature even for Early Access. Right now, the best you can seem to hope for is to scout the empty locations, play fetch with your dog and rag around infinitely on the quad bike that- thanks to a bug similar to the non-lethal dehydration- allows you to drive forever on an empty gas tank. I'll update the review as the game does itself. Video below. https://youtu.be/3E7_Wk0W1Zw

Literally start the game up, got into a quadbike, got off it and game crashes. Relaunches Game, sees dog and throws ball for dog. Game crashes.. Was not fun...
This game is not finished. Framerate goes from 79fps down to 3-5fps about every 5 seconds. the content may be offically complete but there is more work needed on this game.
This is trash. Most buggiest, amateur game I have ever played on Steam. The devs making a remastered from THIS buggy, unfinished trash. Fix your garbage first, polish it then start remastering it, please.
Overall this game was only released in June, 2018. The devs have been updating and communicating frequently. Also if interested, the devs did advertise that being an early access game, this game is still raw so the backers and purchasers are the feedback and can help make the game it can be. Story and concept looks interesting and fun. Look forward to the final product! I recommend to backers and purchasers willing to go for a long ride with the devs, hoping the game stays in development
I wanted to like this game, despite the negative reviews it has received. I started to play the game 3 times now. The first time I put all the petrol in the 4wd, leaving nothing for the generator, and I couldn't find anything else for filling the generator. The second time I restarted the game, filled up the generated and saved the game. When I later continued the game everything was white (like being in fog). I do not want to restart again only to find out later I've ran into another bug: there are plenty of other games that do work. Bye bye game!
Not worth it at all. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics, low quality audio, and overall poor gameplay. Not worth the $3 Steam charges
The game is really buggy. I started the game multiple times, due to falling trough the floor, or the ui completly disapearing. At one point, I just wasn't controlled by gravity any more, and Items I had collected dissapeared, if there were not enought space in the inventory. Also the dialogue just kept repeating the couple first lines, when re started the game, even when I wasnät in the first cabin. So I am not exxagerating, when I say, that the game has a lot of issues. Nothing really happened in the game while I was playing it. I didn't see any aliens, or anything dangerous looking. The game looks nice, and there are a interesting places you can check, but nothing really happened in any of those places...
Don't bother wasting your money or hard drive space. This game came out in 2018 but Halo Combat Evolved gives it a run for it's money. It is such a lose game with no script on what you should actually do. Not to mention the bugs. this game is a huge cash grab and a waste of time. However, if you bought the game let me help you out by telling you to press L and get it all looked at cause that's about as good as it gets.
Survival game lovin doods, stay away from this like the plague!!! They are happy to take your money, tell you they will be re-mastering the game which will fix all of the bugs and then do nothing lol. I would of been more impressed if they were upfront about no more future plans for this game, or at least set a timetable for when it might happen but instead we are left with a bugfest without basic functionality like the ability to invert your mouse aim. Amazing concept, the description for this game is by far and away the best part of this game so just read that a few times and imagine a cool game in your head and then walk away.
