Wavey The Rocket

The control scheme is exactly as wacky as it looks and I love it. At the beginning it's funny to figure out how to even to begin to control Wavey, and then when it starts to click the maneuvers start to get really satisfying. Also, I was surprised to see this game isn't just a one-note control gimmick but has carefully designed stages with perfect pacing to teach beginners the ropes, and at the same time clearly intended for expert players to return to for score attacks. And it has chill 90s beats that give it a calming quality despite how difficult it is.

Accompany the quirkiest rocket in the universe on his quest to change the fate of the soda pop industry. Meet all kinds of silly characters and get the chance to shut down the ruler of Evil2 by maneuvering a wide variety of highly challenging levels!

I was legitimately frustrated & down on myself in the first hour of playing this game because I was SO BAD. This game is unlike anything that I've ever played, so there is a definite learning curve. BUT THEN, things started to click. This game is very challenging, but extremely rewarding when you finally get through a level that's been kicking your ass for the last 10 minutes. SUPPORT THESE DEVS. They have clearly made a gem & have put a lot of effort into making this game great. Don't even get me started on the music! It's fantastic! Definitely 90s vibes all around and you love to see it. Only 13 levels in (out of 80+) and ALREADY hoping for more DLC levels! Hope this helps :) Note: The devs reached out to me about playing & I figured "why not?" I wasn't paid a penny & mostly wanted to check it out because of the music/visuals. But, it's fantastic. I would easily pay $30-35 for this game. If you like a challenge, this is definitely for you <3

A really addictive, compelling game with a satisfying gameplay loop. It reminds me of some of my favourite platformers I played back in the 90s in terms of aesthetic, but the control scheme is something new I'd never come across before. Initially, it's like trying to fly a plane with your feet, but once you get the hang of it it's a really enjoyable experience. At its best it reminds me of Sonic the hedgehog, with the player zooming through the levels at a fast pace, in a flow state. The amount of content in the game is also really impressive. After 4 hours I'm only 1/4 the way through completing the levels and haven't touched any minigames or similar. If you're a fan of "just one more try" games of skill and reflexes like Celeste or Hyper Light Drifter you'll get into the zone with this one too. Definitely give it a go! Also the music is great. Props to the music guy, whoever you are.

Fantastic game mechanic with very tight controls. Great art and music too. EDIT: OK THIS GAME IS COOL. Currently halfway though the game and the levels keep getting crazy creative. At first one would think "Sure its a cool gimmick, but I'm sure you can only push this game mechanic so far" but that is NOT the case. Its a trip for sure.

Great music with challenging gameplay that's simple yet rewarding especially as the levels develop. Fun to speedrun and fun to try set highscores on. Overall worth it considering the time you can spend spam playing it to get high up on the leaderboards.

This game is hard but fun. Steep learning curve but highly recommend.

Great game with a fun aesthetic and great music to boot. The quick restarts on each level makes the gameplay fairly addictive, the unique and quirky gameplay also makes it fun engaging to play and enjoy.

Crazy game control method but worth persevering at to learn. Difficult at times but not frustratingly so once you get the hang of the frankly madwhack mechanics. Lots of difficult to master techniques and super hard endgame style challenges for those who like that kind of thing. Runs well with no bugs that I'm aware of and sports a massive 80 levels to complete. Its got that kind of playstyle where you run on autopilot but simultaneously have to focus intensely. An underrated gem in my opinion.
