About
Enter into a world thick with bubbling psychedelia. Descend deep into a new ecology teeming with multiple pathways, luminous levels, and complex obstacles. Transcend the material realm and assume your true form as Spinch, a hyper-agile organism consumed by the quest to rescue its litter of missing offspring from an endless invasion of misshapen and malformed offbeats and oddities.
Bringing back old school difficulty, Spinch will have you replaying sections until you master your timing and reflexes. Dash, dodge, climb, swim, jump, and even shoot your own babies as you take on six enigmatic bosses in six vibrant worlds. Collect items to give you the upperhand while searching for your missing babies. Be on the lookout for your cousin - he's babysitting some of your relatives, but he's a little weird. With only a ticking clock and quick restarts - no lives or game overs - the game is welcoming to players of all experiences, but a formidable challenge to even the most capable of speedrunners.
The world of Spinch has been crafted and brought to life by talented award-winning Canadian cartoonist, Jesse Jacobs, known for his precise and detailed line work in combination with bold and simple color palettes. His works contain an affiliation with psychedelia, spirituality, alternate realities, and a blending of nature with technology. James Kirkpatrick, well known for his participation in the early Canadian graffiti movement and as avant-garde hip-hop artist, Thesis Sahib, created the audio landscape of retro soundbites and electronic sounds found within Spinch.

Input delays create unnecessary frustration, transforming simple jumps into deadly challenges and draining the enjoyment from gameplay. The game's content feels shallow. After an hour, the increasing difficulty level merely recycles the same mechanics without introducing fresh elements.
It's bad. But it's a sincere kind of bad. It's not trying to be le epic ironic sh!tpost like cruetly squad. So I can respect that. Apparently it was made with canadian tax dollars too, but as far as i know shrooms still aren't legal there so I'm not sure who the target audience for this game is. Anyways that's all for now. game sucks, dont bother
I like the visual styling of the game, and the level design for the first few worlds is pretty good. It's fun up until world 4 which is almost entirely underwater based. The under water controls are extremely slow unless you dash, but the dash gives a lot of momentum, which is very hard to control while underwater. It's also worth mentioning that every boss fight functions the same. The music is also lack luster. If you're looking for a simple platformer to waste a few hours on, this is an alright choice, but it really doesn't do much that you can't find done elsewhere better.
A lot of people have complained about refresh rate issues on high refresh monitors, but this is hardly the only game that suffers in that department. If you invest in that arena, like 4k, you should expect issues with many games and suck it up, so I'm willing to ignore such gripes and blame. The devs have said they'd like to fix it, but they can't because gamemaker won't fix it. For me, with a normal, 1080p, decent graphics card, decent pc setup, the game still runs at an akward FPS that makes look choppy as it plays. I'm not normally a frame rate stickler, but because of all the visual noise, this game really suffers if the framerate is not smooth enough. The short is that this game has many technical issues that make it unplayable for top end and at least some typical setups. The design of the game compounds those issues. Can not recommend.
I became completely immersed in the world of Spinch - the psychedelic visuals, the trippy and catchy music, and the adorable Spinch designs. The platforming feels responsive, and the variety of levels is fantastic, although I feel later levels ramp up difficulty way too much. Overall I enjoyed my time with Spinch, it was completely worth playing!
That freaking timer. Then it drops that nuclear on you. My high loves this game. Think my sober would too. I'll check tomorrow.
Graphics is amazing and I really wanted to enjoy this game. And I did till the level 4... But after the game started to get harder and harder. Level 6 is simply unbeatable! Maybe devs can consider few simplifications like: 1. Don't let any enemy kill from single attempt (like those blobs on level 6). It's just unfair, we have hearts, why would someone simply kill you straight away? 2. Add more checkpoints . 3. Maybe split the level 6 into sub-levels Otherwise, we had a pretty frustrating experience starting the same part of the level over and over and over...
I don't know why this game doesn't get more love. I think the platforming is great. It has simple mechanics and each level presents unique challenges. Couple that with great trippy visuals and a banger soundtrack. Give it a shot, you will know within a few levels if it is your jam or not.
Very good, no nonsense platformer.
