[/h1] This is the final stop in getting to know the work of maybe the worst 'indie horror' dev on Steam. Wooden House is the pure essence of all the trash GDNomaD has managed to spit out: the classic stupid H-J-K puzzle at the end, tedious key hunting, and notes full of cliches, poorly translated into English by a bot. It looks like the dev tried to make it seem like you could influence the story somehow, but that's a flat-out lie. And the cherry on top—as usual—is a random Easter egg with Kuplinov, thrown in just for hype. The plot here is on the level of a 'first-grader's essay': some guy gets fed up with society and decides to live in an abandoned wooden house. Of course, the basement has two skeletons waiting for him, which make you run around, after flashing a big 'RUN' on the screen — that’s all the imagination they could muster. The graphics are awful and somehow manage to lag even in such simple settings. The only plus is that the creator at least didn’t copy every single sound and cliché from their previous projects, but that doesn’t save the game. Why am I going into such detail about these pieces of crap being sold for money? Stuff like GDNomaD just cashes in on players, giving at most 15 minutes of gameplay. On top of that, they pull a dirty trick with Steam cards: they only drop after the game has been left open for a few hours, so the user definitely can’t get a refund. Telling people not to fall for it is probably pointless — but as they say, "people will swallow it," though it’s worth calling things by their real names. This isn’t creativity or the result of depression; it’s just a dumb scam by someone wanting to make money off digital junk. Spending even a couple of bucks on this is just not respecting yourself. Wooden House is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The Russian "developer" paid for/pirated a few basic game assets, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. It's important to also note the "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. Which is not to say this is a pure asset flip as there's a short, badly written, badly translated horror story, as you bumble around an old house in the country and discover there's some evil inside the house. Yawn. Regardless, there's a large amount of asset re-use without attributing those assets to the actual creators. Claiming the work of others as your own is unethical. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Wooden House is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

the only good part about this game is the steam backgrounds that you can get with steam points, it was cheaper to get the game than the background it's self from the steam market

There is some atmosphere. And that's it. Extremely short, buggy, bad design choices, nonsensical story,... Don't waste your time on this.

Looking decent is the only good thing this game has going for it. It doesn’t run that well at all, it is very short, weird and bad. Also it is missing such a basic thing as sound settings.
