A nice strategy game that builds up good momentum once you get past the starting obstacles. I’m 11 hours into the game. I really liked taking on the larger enemy factions, the enemy generals look pretty sick in-game, and are usually stacked. The battles with these larger factions usually encompass multiple generals taking part, which is pretty wild, but if your playing on multiplayer it can slow down your pc. I did run into a few bugs, none of the bugs were game breaking and the game is still in early access so I gave it a pass. I do wish the sieges had more gameplay elements, it seems a little too easily once I take out their generals or sneak around them. Other than a few factions, many of the other clans are not really proactive are pretty much docile on the map unless your at war with them. Hopefully the developers can improve performance and get a little bit more ambitious on the action.
I love the idea for this game but it needs soooo much work! It is very rough around the edges and feels like it shouldnt be anywhere close to early access. The battles are too simplistic and there is no tutorial or anything to suggest any story or point or goal. I truly want to give this game a thumbs up because I actually had the release date written on my calendar but right now I cant. Please fix this game because you guys might be onto something if you actually put some time into it.
This game needs lots of work. With no guide you are playing blind.
On paper this game has a lot of great concepts, combining aspects from many other Samurai games into one truly unique experience. However in it's current state is is a little rough. Still I do recommend this game as the devs seem entirely focused on continually improving the game. With that said I believe with proper polish it can become something really great!
Paid $20 for a key from their website (BAD IDEA, CAN'T REFUND IT THIS WAY SO USE CAUTION!!). Worst $20 I've ever spent. The graphics are outdated by AT LEAST 10 years, and the game feels clunky even at the main menu. You can't zoom out further than your characters height x3, meaning you can't see ♥♥♥♥. Yeah, sure, there's a map.. but it feels like wherever you travel, you're doing so in a narrow hallway. I don't know, I only played a handful of minutes and got nothing but bad vibes. I was eagerly hoping this was a Japanese spin off of a Mount and Blade type of game, and maybe it is, but lord the graphics and sluggish feel to the game are enough alone to make me never want to touch it again. It's a shame I can't get my money back.
With what little bit i have played of this game it lacks many many things that make it a fun and enjoyable game, there's little explanation of what does what, much of the icons are made in japanese and the only way to see what they mean or say you have to scroll over them. Some people may like this type of presentation and I can understand this, however for those who want a more ease of access it shouldn't be like this or at least optional. I fully understand this is early access, and I judge early access almost as critically as a fully released game for a good purpose, first of all i hope my critical sense does help make the game better and secondly, the game should never be outside of the realm of play ability. I want to say right now to clear up the air, this game is FULLY playable, it has an amazing foundation for something GREAT! Now i will not say it has enough material to really be enjoyable but i have played a good enough amount of this game to know it is playable and you can play to the end, which it's nothing more than conquering anything and everything you possibly can! Now, I want to say that despite this game's current play ability, I never experienced a single crash, there are plenty of issues with this game's gameplay though, from the confusing interface to somewhat of a lack of an interface, there is little to know what is going on in this game. It is ALL up to you and your patience in learning how the game functions in this sandbox game, there is currently little to NO hand holding, and you do get the freedom to branch out, but to what end? Synopsis: This game is a very VERY basic hybrid of Mount and blade: warband, Total war: shogun 2 and some other slight additions here and there, it is currently a FULL sandbox with no one or anything to hold you back from full conquest of Japan. There is NO story elements, there is NO buildup, the battles are deathly simple and hard to really enjoy with how fast they go by let alone the controls. Understand I am recommending this game purely on the basis that it has a very VERY strong future ahead of it after some controls ironing out, a purpose to the game and making it an ACTUAL challenge as the gameplay is very simplistic and easily cheesable, In the time i played at the making of this game review (1.3 hours of gameplay) I easily went from a single castle to being the strongest Daimyo on the face of japan and my conquest wasn't done, i had taken Kyoto and after that many clans just fell to me or swore fealty, i easily was unchallengeable except one or two factions which never had enough armies around to even stop me from taking every castle, or they didn't challenge me at all. The AI are super bad, they need serious tweaking past their simplistic forms, the animations are aweful, the models aren't half bad, battles go super fast, you easily get kinda bored with how easy the game is, being a sandbox there's almost no story or reason to play on after you have 6+ armies. It is far from a bad game currently, but neither is it a great game. BUY AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION, this game IS playable but not yet worthwhile to really play, if you want to buy the game to support it I do highly recommend it, buy the game to support its future development, the devs seem active for now and seem likeable enough to support! May your blades stay sharp!
