Relatively fun game with some replayability. Only problem is the Devs havent posted an update or replied to anyone since January of 2018. Some bugs with only one or two of them being game braking(stops progression) would be a recommend but it seems to have been abandonded by the dev team.
Played On: HTC Vive
Marshmallow Melee is a third-person rogue-lite dungeon crawler where you control a tiny army of marshmallow fighters against an ascending tower of enemies. Despite the store page boasting 70 levels, there are 50 implemented so far; with an evil wizard boss at the very top... if you manage to make it all the way up there. Along the way the game will throw you shops where you can use gems to buy new recruits, weapons, and power-ups. From time to time you'll also get a free helmet for one of your little warriors. Even though there are a lot of good things to say about Marshmallow Melee, and that the game itself has a ton of potential, it's sadly considered abandonware at this point. The developer has been MIA in the forums since early 2018, and there hasn't been an actual update to this release since just before Christmas of 2017; which isn't saying much considering its launch date was October 2017. When you get down to it, it's pretty obvious that the developer planned to dump this title in an Early Access state. Everything works, there are 50 levels, there's an endgame boss, and there are relatively few issues. One of the biggest concerns about this title, aside from the aforementioned, is the inconsistency in which it grants you with things such as helmets and visits to the store. In my initial run, I made it all the way to level 21 before getting a game over and I only saw two shops and one helmet upgrade. I also didn't see any fun weapons like the lolliepops and cactus swords, nor did I see any wizard staves. I ran across three different swords and a bow. The tutorial also doesn't explain how you get a game over either, or how your warriors permanently die. I had one warrior bite the dust early on from who-knows-what, and then on level 21 I just abruptly died with two warriors. It's such a sad waste that Marshmallow Melee was abandoned so early into its inception by its creator. It has the potential to be one of the most fun strategy RPG titles for VR, even to this day. Even in its current state, it does have quite a bit of replayability given its procedural generation and shuffling tower, but it's definitely not worth the $16.99 CAD price tag. I have a feeling that the developer gave out a bunch of keys and Curator Connect offers to get this game noticed so that it would sell well, and then dumped it shortly after feigning a couple of small updates. A fun game and one of my first purchases when it came to VR. Unfortunetly it's yet another early access game that has been abandoned by it's developers.
Dead game, last news was nearly a year ago. Game is extremely barebones. I went in expecting an hour of gameplay, was done in about 20 mins. Saw every hat/weapon ect. Steam thought I didnt close the game cuz I left VR mode on (but closed the game) so I cant refund it. Update 2021: Still not a single update. Devs cut and run. Never trust Early Access, even if the devs are active in their discord!
A nice game, but it's been abandoned by the developers. What you see is what you get.
Good but i don't know if they will update again.
i wish they would finish the game or atleast add more stuff to it
feels like a finished game for me, 10bucks would be okay so get it at a deal and you´ll be happy
boring game watching things fight
This is a really great game! Gameplay is quick ot pick up and fun. I think the sounds were chosen really well. The little marshmallows are adorable! The different weapons and helmets crack me up. I like the graphics style. I have not really noticed any major bugs (playing on Windows 10) Definitely a game worth trying. It is unfortunate that there have not been any updates for a while because I think this is a real gem. Really, this is a game that puts a smile on your face if you are looking for something lighthearted and fun.
