I'm note got good with review but I did want to share some thoughts about this game: It's super fun and quite hectic... Serious Sam hectic gameplay comes to mind. You are ambushed every once in a while with massive amount of enemies thrown at you Left 4 Dead 3 playstyle. It's a wonderful game. Graphics sound: Very nice and quite detailed. The beginning intro movie is awesome as well. I recommend this game highly and it is a blast to play in co-op. Any takers to do co-op with me? Just let me know... :-)
Few co-op games feel as satisfying as cutting through hordes of Skaven and Chaos forces with friends. Every class offers a distinct playstyle, and the melee combat has a weight and intensity that still holds up years later. The progression system provides plenty of reasons to keep playing, while higher difficulties demand real teamwork. A fantastic co-op experience that's easy to sink hundreds of hours into.
Yes-yes, listen-hear me, man-thing. This game is good-great. Too good, maybe. The graphics are shiny-pretty, the combat is fast-choppy, and smashing rat skulls never gets old-boring. The heroes are strange-funny, always talking-arguing while thousands of superior Skaven warriors heroically throw themselves into their blades. Such sacrifice. Much tragedy. The story is interesting enough to keep the slaughter moving, but the real joy comes from carving a path through endless hordes of rat-things, beast-things, and other unfortunate creatures. The gameplay is smooth-smooth, the mechanics are excellent, and every mission somehow turns into complete chaos-disaster in the best possible way. Buy-acquire this game, yes-yes. Especially if it is on sale. Few things in life are worth more than hearing "RAT OGRE!" moments before your entire team dies horribly. 10/10. Would exterminate-kill my fellow Skaven again. Yes-yes. 🐀🐀🐀
IM GAY!
For me, part of the joy of playing video games with other people, is that ideally the people you're playing with are friends. Or at the very least, friendly. Oh how tired and exhaustive are competitive PvP games where everyone is a child spewing vile hatred at strangers when they've not even stepped outside their parents house and interacted with anyone irl... Vermintide is a game where I like to bash ugly little rats brains out with a flail. Rats hardly any different from the fore mentioned kids, whom just bully their own when they aren't hissing or making stupid faces at you. This game is the exact opposite of what I began my review lamenting. It is a game for adults whom wish to play together to bash annoying rats until there are no more. But there are always more rats to be bashed, so the fun never has to end! Select your champion, level them up to unlock their nuanced classes, and rat bash your way across the multiple adventures with your friends in this horde style hack and slash game where the rats to be bashed never ends! I know I already said the part about the rat bashing not ever coming to a stop, but I really feel like I need to drive that point home. There are a LOT of rats that need to be bashed!
Yeah, no — not with randoms. I'm completely fine with level 5s on Legend who don't do much but follow the team and play carefully. What I'm *not* okay with the people who play Kerillian, rush ahead, skip all healing items, pick up grimoire, run into the middle of a room, let themselves get surrounded by enemies, die, and then disband the party. What's with people these days? Every other game is like this. Also, once again — no reputation system, which I feel is mandatory for online games nowadays so people don't act like morons. In Vermintide 1, there was a publicly visible infinite leveling system. In Vermintide 2, you can't distinguish between someone who played 30 hours and maxed one character, and someone who played 700 hours — unless you dig into their Steam profile. Mechanically, the game is cool, fun, and very responsive. But socially, it's awful. I'd rather play with bots than with 90% of the people. I played this game about 40 hours at release with friends, and I have roughly the same amount of positive memories of those events years ago as I do from playing 60 hours in the last two weeks — mostly with randoms. I left a negative review on Deep Rock Galactic too, because of social issues, but now I feel like I should maybe change it, because boy oh boy, this game implemented social features even worse! A little off-topic, but still worth noting: - Non-cosmetics hidden behind 20 DLCs. - Loading times into the Keep are awful for some reason (3 minutes into the lobby in the Keep, 20-30 seconds if they're already in a level). - The game requires kernel-level access for anti-cheat.
the developers were like: "i hate cookie clicker but i love clicking left mouse button i wish i could do it more" then they made this game. this game is genuinely %30 holding w and %60 spamming left mouse button. i have been gaming before i even knew myself and i literally dont remember playing any game, other than this, that has made my index finger go sore. as a horde-shooter fiend myself, i think this game just isn't it.
I've played a lot of horde shooters/slashers, and nothing has the perfect balance of a "dance" like vermintide 2 does. Fundamentals are strong and they never let you down, dodging, blocking/parrying well goes a long way, weapons are fun to use, careers (classes) are actually distinct from each other and have unique, interesting mechanics. Team work can make the dream work, there are lots of cool synergetic team setups to try out, and whilst the bots aren't gods at the game, they are also worth a mention. Even if you are a solo player, it is possible to comfortably go through all difficulties present, as the bots are fully customizable and can be made into a team that is quite supportive and tanky. Game is quite well optimized graphically, i run it 60FPS at 2K, no frame gen (can do more but i choose to stay at 60), whilst maxing out everything possible, and it barely takes 50% GPU load. Outside of gameplay, characters have great depth to them, you will hear dialogue very often, and the banter is actually interesting, subtly (or loudly) revealing backstories on them. It's warhammer fantasy so there's that too, everything is a vibrant, yet dark medieval fantasy. Designs are top notch, if you're a fan of that era's weaponry, armour and fantasy stereotypes you will love this (knights, wizards, battle priests, you get the idea). Of course, it has its flaws too such as rather unstable servers on quickplay, with some host migration issues (depends on the host themselves too as the game is P2P), also, small things that have not been patched out over the years, such as niche spots on maps where you can get stuck and the like (you are highly unlikely to get into these spots by accident, never happened to me yet). Overall though, vermintide 2 has managed to become one of my most memorable games, it is especially fun with friends, but it completely supports anyone without too, and you can get lost in the combat loop for hours.
I exclusively play solo, and despite me actually liking the game in general with it's fun combat, multitude of different characters, abilities, weapons etc., the bots absolutely kill the experience for me. I'm tired of it. The stupid loot system is also annoying with the lack of a pause button when playing solo being extremely exhausting when trying to find those stupid books on a map that one is unfamiliar with. Some of them are incredibly annoying to get to even if one does know where they are, such as that one that requires absolute perfect platforming in Festering Ground. And this is just the tip of the iceberg; there are so many little grievances that just add up and make for a poor experience, sorry. As a result, I cannot recommend this game.
- Booted up this game, expected not to like it - Played Saltzpyre - Enjoyed the gameplay - Bought Warrior Priest DLC - Had an Old dude yell "FOR SIGMAR" into my ear everytime i pick my class - tried out Chaos Waste - Got touched by every of the 4 chaos Gods by them throwing Chaos Spawns at me - Used to Power of Sigmar and an old man with a hammer to kill said Spawns all in all good experience 10/10 can recommend, also...if you want to understand the Dwarf there is a Reddit post to translate all the insults, I love this community
