Good combat, brain dead bot AI, dead playerbase and a bunch of overpriced DLC, really wish I didn't spent money on this.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

We like hate-killing no-furs my squeaka, committing nefarious deed-acts my squeaka.
I'll be honest, I don't see much reason to play Vermintide 1 when you can just play Vermintide 2 instead (specially when Vermintide 2 was given for free at least two times now). The game is OK. It's clearly inspired by Left 4 Dead and it's set in the Warhammer universe (not Warhammer 40k, just Warhammer, also popularly known as "Warhammer fantasy"). Even some of the special enemies resemble the ones from L4D: Gutter Runner is your Hunter, Packmaster your Smoker, Globadier is the Spitter, Rat Ogre is the Tank... you know the drill. The biggest difference would be that Vermintide has a progression system. While In L4D an experienced player could open the game on a fresh account and just play it like he would in his thousand hours main account, that would not be likely in Vermintide. Leveling and Itemization play a big role in Vermintide (I suppose that's why the game is tagged as "RPG" by the way), and I personally think that's a great thing. In concept. The problem would be that after finishing all the missions in the campaign I did not get a good item for a character I would like to play as (and I was even using the trinket to improve my chances with items for that character, by the way), and while the dark fantasy setting is much more to my liking than L4D's could ever be, the levels itself do not flow as nicely. If you're going to play with bots (and unless you have a premade group to play with, you'll must likely have to play with bots), prepare to carry all the barrels and ration sacks alone while your companions lollygag around, and if you put yourself in a bad situation where you end up getting downed, in my experience, the bots were never able to turn the table and pick me up. They act quite stupidly sometimes, actually. I'm pretty sure this game is better with real people. Much better. But with 22 current players at the time I write this review, you may not have the opportunity to play it as intended. The itemization also felt much grindier than it is in Vermintide 2 (probably because, without the different careers to play around with, the grind is what is supposed to give you more "variety"), and, surprisingly, the performance is much more unstable in Vermintide 1 than Vermintide 2, but Vermintide 2 looks way better. After getting the Defenders of Ubersreik achievement, which reads "Complete all missions", I was much more interested in getting back to Vermintide 2 than I was in playing the DLCs I own for Vermintide 1, and so I just decided to uninstall it and move on. I really feel like the 20 different careers (or 15 without DLC) you'll have in Vermintide 2 makes the sequel a much more interesting game to play, with all of them having unique passives and abilities and also a simple talent tree, the itemization/crafting system seems well designed to make you feel good to go even if your loot is not the best, and you also have more game modes to play with. It's just too big of an improvement. I would even say Vermintide 2 is the GOAT of this genre, being even better than L4D2, so go play it instead. The bottom line is that, even if Vermintide 1 is not a bad game per say, it coexists with Vermintide 2 now (and has been for most of it's lifetime). Comparatively, it is bad, and if even the performance cannot be used as an excuse to play the earlier title (because it runs worse), I really don't know why would someone play this instead of the sequel. May sound a bit harsh, I know, but by alternating between both games in the last few days that's my completely honest opinion.
(TLDR-Friendly version) The game is freaking amazing. I do not usually give perfect scores because I do not believe in the concept of perfection and view it as a flaw of the human philosophical perspective... However, this game along with its' sequel deserve a 9.99999999(infinitesimal)/10 score! And those .9's will go on for forever, as this game is infinitely great! Bad review? Maybe, but just trust me and try the game. I didn't think I would even enjoy a first person game period. The game has utterly transformed my perspective on first person games and destroyed any previous prejudices I had held due to growing up in the 90's and early 2000's and being burnt out from it. This game did more than rekindle a flame... Sienna incinerated my hesitation, and no doubt could thrive thereafter. I'm in love, and her name is Vermintide... (The longer story...) I have not been this in love with a first person game since Planetside 2 had first come out over a decade ago. I've been homeless and/or living under a rock for a long time due to personal struggles. I recently moved in with a family member and have started getting back into old hobbies. I lost my Warhammer 40k armies and books when I became homeless about 4 years ago. They may still be stored if my cousin grabbed them for me, but it's more than likely they were destroyed by rats or sold by my dad who is an alcoholic and drug addict. I am autistic and epileptic and have been through hell trying to get help. Depression made it very difficult for me to get back into video games. People treat each other horribly... Especially when you're homeless because then you have to be paranoid about other homeless people robbing or mugging you (which happened to me...), police constantly threatening you and not at all protecting you or helping you, and then the general population tends to either ignore you, treat you badly if they do pay attention, form opinions about you without knowing you, and at best maybe treat you kindly with a sort of condescending tone where you can tell they're doing it more for themselves than you (if that makes sense... hard for me to explain...)... But yesterday when I played this game for the first time finally, I fell in love almost instantly! It is such a satisfying and great outlet to smash apart waves of enemy Skaven! The feel of the game and vibration of the Xbox controller I use, it all is so satisfactory like I almost feel like I'm really there smashing rats! So far I've played as the elf archer and human warrior. Today I want to try the dwarf, fire mage, and witch hunter probably in that exact order. For my first game, I accidentally joined an online game with people who clearly knew what they were doing and it seemed to just throw me into character midway through the level too lol... So make sure to select "private" if you want to play alone, and ignore the message that asks if you're sure you want to start without a party... I was nervous that it meant without AI bot party as well, but you never play alone. There is always 4 characters in-game... I did my best to keep up with the human players, and then somehow got sucked into a follow up match which I think I quit to take a break and sort out some things. It has something to do with the voting for next level system. I think if votes are cast you enter battles instantly and I had no idea, but I finally got into my own game and played a couple levels solo with an AI party and... Oh my goodness this game is so much fun!!! It's just the perfect balance of everything in my opinion. It's the kind of game that I will play for at least 1 run every day, so like 30 minutes to a few hours daily. I also got several other Warhammer games to play too that I haven't even tried yet, but I know for sure that I'm going to be buying all of the DLC for both Vermintide games coming up this Black Friday sale I'm hoping to find bundles or something some how. I also want to get Darktide too and I hope and look forward to more games from Fat Shark! When I moved in with my sister and nephew recently they had me like link my account with theirs and so we all have a family plan shared. I saw a Warhammer game pop up into my library one day, and it was Vermintide 2... I had never heard of it, but was excited to check it out. The intro to the game was so amazing I fell in love right away. I recognized very quickly about 5-10 minutes into the game that I wanted to play the first one first. I get kind of weird about stuff like that sometimes. I don't want to miss references and Easter Eggs, and so I've dedicated myself to play all of Vermintide 1 and its' DLC before I come to Vermintide 2... I couldn't play 2 anymore and quit immediately. I think an entire year has gone by before I could finally get the money to buy the first game. I got my own copies of Vermintide from the Humble Bundle Waaaghtober Fest deal. It kind of seems like Vermintide is a Steam exclusive game? Maybe it's on consoles too or something, I don't know because I don't own any anymore and until just very recently (literally like 2 days ago) I haven't been paying attention to any video game news. My new favorite routine with Steam is going to be buying bundles on Humble Bundle, playing each new game for at least 30 minutes before deciding if I like it or not, which can sometimes even take 2-3 hours to really get into the mechanics of story heavy games with complex mechanics, but after I've decided which games I love, then I will collect all of the expansions and DLC's. I have about $70 to last me until the 3rd of next month for my recreational activities. This includes pipe tobacco. I have never participated in a Black Friday sale or the Digital Monday sale, the latter of which I just discovered online like 2 days ago lol... I really wish Steam would release like definitive editions of Vermintide 1 & maybe 2 if they're done releasing stuff for it so that people like me could afford to get a great deal on a Fat Shark Black Friday (that's a mouthful lol...) bundle and get all of the "tide" games and currently available DLC... I didn't even realize Darktide existed until recently, and yet it too is already a few years old... I hope the "tide" community is still alive and thriving because I'm newly obsessed!

Would be a great game if it wasnt because the greedy malpractice of giving you 20% of a game while pretending to sell you the rest as a DLC and then pretend you grinding for hours and hours just to get acceptable weapons. Gamedevs, be better.
Despite some disheartening bugs, Vermintide is much more than a mere Left 4 Dead clone: relentless action, endless waves of enemies and true co-op action makes it worthy of your time.
Review Title: I came for fun. I stayed because I forgot what real life feels like. I launched this game “just to try it for 10 minutes.” That was a lie. A disgusting, shameful lie. Suddenly it was 3 AM, my room was dark, my soul was empty, and I was emotionally attached to pixels on a screen. This game didn’t just entertain me — it adopted me. Let’s talk about gameplay. It’s smooth. Too smooth. Like “butter sliding on another butter” smooth. The controls feel so natural that at some point I forgot I was pressing buttons and started believing my keyboard and mouse were extensions of my nervous system. Graphics? Absolutely beautiful. Sometimes I stopped playing just to stare at the environment like a confused tourist who forgot why he opened the game in the first place. My PC fans started praying for mercy, but honestly? Worth it. Sound design deserves its own paragraph. The music doesn’t just play — it whispers to your soul. I caught myself doing dramatic head nods during intense moments like I was in a movie montage. My neighbors probably think I’m training for something important. I am. Survival. Now the story… I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say I laughed, I panicked, I questioned my moral choices, and at one point I just sat there staring at the screen thinking, “Wow… I really did that, huh?” Replayability? Yes. Absolutely yes. I told myself I was done, closed the game, reopened it 20 minutes later “just to check something,” and somehow started a whole new run. The game won. I accepted defeat. Bugs? A few. But honestly they felt like emotional support bugs. We struggled together. Who should buy this game? People who enjoy fun People who enjoy suffering People who say “one more mission” and then forget their own name People who value their sleep but are willing to sacrifice it Who should NOT buy this game? Anyone with responsibilities Anyone who needs to wake up early Anyone who thinks they have self-control Final Verdict: This game didn’t just take my time. It took my heart. 10/10 would lose track of reality again. 👍 Recommended 🏆 Please give award so my suffering was not in vain
