About

Begin your adventure aboard your personal, giant voidship, traveling between the multitude of systems within the Koronus Expanse, a barely charted and incredibly perilous region of space. Despite being considered a backwater of the Imperium, this region encompasses an enormous stretch of the void, filled with dangerous creatures and prodigious opportunities for profit and exploration.

Rogue Traders never travel alone. Gather your retinue of righteous heroes, twisted psykers, and perfidious xenos. All of them are ready to follow you into the darkness between the stars. They will offer you counsel, aid you in battle, and allow you to amass ever more power. In return, you can guide them through their own personal journeys, changing their destinies forever.

During quests show your subjects mercy or disdain, stay faithful to the God-Emperor, or consort with enemies of Mankind - your every decision and every act, even in character creation, is changing the in-game open world and those who inhabit it.

Slaughter the enemies of Mankind in a fully-fledged isometric turn-based tactical combat. Take advantage of cover, the environment, and careful positioning to overpower your enemies. When that is not enough - use your companion`s powerful abilities to turn the tide of battle and achieve victory even in the direst of situations. Our video game adaption of the classic Rogue Trader ruleset allows an enormous number of possibilities for you to explore.

My wife and I are running a coop campaign together. This is by far the best WH40K game we've ever played. Rogue Trader is a great introduction to anyone trying to learn about Warhammer 40K, as well as a fantastic game for Warhammer veterans. Most other game worlds in this setting are just glorified battle maps where you run around shooting people. But in this game you will interact with the people who live in this universe and learn about how they go about their lives. How different factions compete or co-exist, etc. All of which we find very refreshing. Making the player a rogue trader is a brilliant in-universe justification for why we can generally just waltz into most places and why the Imperial authorities give us a lot more leeway compared to the average citizen, within reason. Your decisions in game will set you down the path of dogmatism, radicalism or outright heresy. And we've barely even scratched the surface in the early part of act 2. The tactical battles and the story are the main draw for us. We are both growing attached to our own favorite characters. I play with Abelard, sister Argenta and Yrliet. While my wife is the rogue trader who also controls Jay and Cassia. And sometimes we rotate between other characters depending on the mission or whatever we find fun. But we were surprisingly also drawn into the high stakes turn based ship battles as well, which are like a whole separate game in itself that we admittedly found a bit hard to get the hang of early on as the ships handle like flying bricks! Which to be fair is accurate in the lore. There is even a light empire/colony management aspect where you have to balance which resources you want to mine for your trade empire, which can be traded away for lucrative contracts or invested into construction projects. While you balance this you will be flying around in your ship, trying to find new planets with valuable resources, bartering with local factions and optimizing the gear of your retinue of increasingly deadly misfits. Overall we can't recommend this game enough!

So many talents... so much reading.... story is great and so is the gameplay... but fml I work all day and was hoping for a game to chill and play ( being turn based ) but the amount of poor builds you can make from the million talent character options... exhausting. Great for replay ability I imaginethough but just gets a bit overwhelming.
I just got this game a few days ago, how am I already 28hours in and still not past the Intro? Did reached an ending though https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3758231387
I was not pleased by the presence of the black, gay arbitrator. That is not accurate to the lore
Great story, otherwise tedious and disappointing I enjoyed the unique story premise, and the in-depth quests, sidequests, and surprises. I had played through Pathfinder WOTR, and had high expectations for this game. It took me some time to get used to the complexity of character building in WOTR, and Rogue Trader took that complexity much further. Unfortunately, the character building became so complex, with seemingly endless fine details and dependencies, that the process of levelling the party went from a time of celebration to a chore. It easily took me twenty minutes to select the attributes of my party each time they levelled in the hopes of gaining capabilities and not wasting opportunities or creating conflicts. There are 90 levels for characters in RT, so your characters often level after a single battle. Consequently, about a third to a half of my time spent playing this game was doing the tedious work of picking through attributes gained at character levels. I dreaded leveling of my characters as each level only improved a character by the smallest of increments, but if not managed effectively the builds could dramatically reduce party effectiveness. Near the time I hung up the game, Owlcat was promoting an expansion that would add additional complexity to the character builds. That was one of the final straws in my book. There were times when I really enjoyed this game, and was thoroughly addicted, but the micromanagement necessary became an increasing weight to bear. I finally called it quits when I ran into an enemy boss that was far stronger than the enemies leading up to him (poor scaling). After doing some reading online, it was clear that I would have to go back a few hours in playtime and then rebuild some or all of my party characters to beat this enemy. That process would have taken days and spreadsheets, and does not sound fun at all. Yes, I could have dropped the difficulty level for this fight, but that would mean giving up much of the sense of accomplishment I got out of the game. It is just not worth it to me. Maybe I will pick it up again in a few years, but I am quite relieved not to be playing RT for the foreseeable future.
