Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Sep 8 → 1.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I don't like how the game is both not random and not really logical. It not only doesn't reward you for searching around but punishes you. And taking troops is basically pointless once you get enough tech priests. I don't like how the game mostly plays out the same every time, I think its a pretty mediocre game overall. Its not bad, just not worth anyone's time I feel. I never feel good after I play it, I feel like I should have just looked up an event guide because I feel jipped around every corner. Then I end up looking at one and I basically did play optimally. A game shouldn't have an optimal way to play that is factually correct, it should be about player style.
A spectacular turn-based game that is completely centered around two of the coolest factions in Warhammer: 40,000... the Mechanicus and the Necrons. Great gameplay, amazing soundtrack, and the voices they gave to the Mechanicus are so cool. Really good game for the Steam deck too.

Once per every blood moon, everything aligns and a banger comes out where one shouldn't be. Mechanicus is one such game, deeply mediocre at its core, but a real stand out in certain areas. Everything just ends up clicking and creating a product which easily immerses players into itself where they forgive it a lot.

🔧Flesh is weak the machine is strong!🔧
The one unique thing which this game does is upgrades of its tech priests. Your tech priests grow from normal, mundane looking tech priests into mechanical monstrosities. Each tree evolving them differently. Together, every gun is modeled and attached in one of their many limbs. You can see your man slowly becoming as something else. It's rare to see in any game where upgrades have such gradual, but ultimately drastical evolution of character model. Gameplay loop further reinforces this as you are constantly dragging out new upgrades from missions, some being written even in a way where you purposefully going to find old expedition remains and see what tech you can recover as old one is better than what they can produce today. It's kinda bit of missed opportunity that you do not explicitly loot upgrades from dead techpreasts while having common variants of weapons far more freely available on a ship, locked behind tech tree as an ability to equip them.
📋Masterfully written📋
Mechanicus is famous for its tech priests talking in binary. However, dialogue in game is quite a stand out. I will never forget how a techpriest returned error 404, damn not found. Or how poetically shipmaster communicates his needs with you. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3445624275 Likewise, dialogue is good. There are different competing factions within tech priests and they stay appropriate to their roles and interests. You can do multiple things with how you decide to end this game. The best ending being destruction of the tomb world which stays in spirit of W40k. There are interesting lore bits here and there. It highlights survival rate of glazing necron gauss repeater hits. Spoiler, nobody in this game should be even surviving a single Necron Warrior hit. Likewise, how necrons view us, how they are self aggrandiazing species. They all provide a nice balance to knowledge obsessed and cold tech priests. There is few exchanges between sides and you do get a feeling of waking up tomb world. You can see how things are difficult from a get go, how it humanizes skitarii, how their entire expedition is ill prepared for such an all out fighting. How everything is crumbling at exponentially waking up tomb world. Sadly, we end up either pillaging or destroying it from its very bottom. As such, lore takes way too much liberty in portraying both the extent of Necron reawakening and technological capacity of techpriests to stop an entire tomb world from reawakening, not to mention that they could hold on for much longer than their meager forces should.
🔥Strikes above its means🔥
This game looks like, smells like and sounds like a game which rolled a perfect 20 on its RNG factor. Everything just came in together spectacularly well. Soundtrack just happened to be inspired and great. Writing is creative and well written, someone with talent obviously cared. Game systems all fall into their place very well. However, beneath all of that you can feel that it's a cheap game striking well beyond what it's supposed to. Developers lacked talent, manhours, money to develop this into a truly great game and community forgives a lot of its shortcomings due to unique strongpoints which this game has. Its sequel is another perfect example of what happens when you take this natural luck away. Developers are clueless what made original great and new changes are just generally a miss with the players. Heavy on the Machine Spirit [*]I'm honestly at a miss where all this processing power goes. Models are not detailed, low resolution. Environments are barren. It's turn based game. Game uses heavy blur. Despite everything, game eats up resources eagerly. While perfectly playable, it's obvious that game had no optimization and is doing nonsense with its given resources. Graphically demanding, but blurred and lacking in detailed graphics There is no balance amongst the stars! [*]There is severe imbalance between weapons and upgrade paths. Some paths are way stronger than others, namely ranged and melee paths. Others serve just as a great way to boost others, being taken as complimentary ones in making main combat paths OP. There is too much power in higher tiers and they should be brought down with others. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3445135411 Here is a great example of power creep which you will experience. It's a first turn. Map is full with enemy troops. Yet, my very first opening shot gets buffed to no end, can cover half of the map and nearly wipe out resistance within first shot. I can easily wipe out most necrons in late game before they even get a chance to respond. Game is wildly imbalanced and tech priests abilities, new weapons are too powerful compared to its opposition. There is next to no challenge from mid game. As expedition falters, so does this game [*]Game can be very hard at the very start. When your tech priests are unupgraded, you will quickly face increasingly more powerful necrons faster than you would unlock your upgrades. Then enemies will stop progressing from mid game and will be just on repeat of what you had faced before. However, you would still be halway in your power from weapons and upgrades. This creates a feeling where game is difficult at the start and possibly hardcore if played on ironman and hardest difficulty setting, but if you make it, rest of a game is trivial on any difficulty. Paper thin meta games [*]Map progression is deeply flawed. You are given choice of two paths with no way to know what they will do. They often are illogical and can severely hamper or aid you. Here is one example of such outcome. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3445156908 There is no way in knowing what consequences of your actions might be and their results are often very questionable. It always stings when you blindly choose the wrong option and you have to reload. Necron glyphs are even worse than choices you have to do on the map. They are completely arbitrary and relies on pen&paper to be played. The true final proof of terrible game system. You get mysterious necron sigils which always have either positive or negative effect. It relies solely on you remembering the good runes and pressing them. Map events function just like that, but with extra steps. Outcomes of them are often arbitrary. So, take away predictability and replace it with RNG. It's just terrible system which serves only to be gamed by a Wiki.

The Long journey which I would rather not repeat

Mechanicus was a lovely game for Warhammer nerds. It has servicable gameplay, together with being faithful to the lore, having stellar writing and soundtrack. Together with a clever gameplay loop of exploring awakening tomb world, it achieves immersion. An immersed player can forgive a lot of game's shortcomings and this game does have a lot of it. Despite being pleased that I had played this game for its stand out moments, it's however a very long, grindy and simple game which I'm glad that I'm done with.

Calicifer's Reviews
If you are interested reading full review or want to discuss something with me, please follow the provided link. I beat Mechanicus 2 and didnt like it so I started playing this one and this game is waaay better than Mechanicus 2. It has more diverse areas, the tombs look different based on what lords tomb you are in, there is alot more cover in this game than Mechanicus 2 and you can move around ALOT more. The cog resource does limit you but that cog tech priest tree is awesome. The choices are decent but they usually do the same four things, glyphs hate me but I did write down what they do so I avoided the bad ones later in the game. The tech priest are fully customizable and the troops have waaay better features than the randomized perks in Mechanicus 2 its fantastic. They neutered this game hard in the second one and its sad!

This game eats your time. Everything is sooooo sloooow.
