Extremely average game skewing towards bad. Gameplay is extremely mid, story and lore are very bland (Of this particular game, not 40K as a whole) and inconsistent with the main lore. Map design is horrible and the game feels very laggy, unoptimized and clunky. Movements and controls feel extremely "heavy", basic QoL features and settings are lacking (Map closes everytime you open another menu, there's no setting to change that). Voice acting is unbearable and the music is very very bad. You get infodumped with mechanics, items and whatnot at the start of the game and feel overwhelmed. Highest tier of items are given out as if they're nothing. Missions, maps and challenges are very repetitive and boring. You never feel like you are part of the world or have any real impact on anything. The only good thing I can say about the game is it's fantastic 40k setting, which is not a merit of the actual game. Overall, not worth your time when there are so many other fantastic ARPGs out there. The original Titan Quest, which came out 20 years ago, is a much more polished and enjoyable experience.
Let's address the elephant first, the engine of this game is not good. Game is buggy but not bugged, just there are many small bugs which you can learn to ignore. The main ones my squad and me experienced were disconnects and phase bug when a player is here but he can not attack or do anything during the mission. Phase bug happened maybe 5 times during our playthrough (130 hours), but it is a big bug so it is worth mentioning, it happens when one of the squad members dies and revives. The second one which I mentioned is disconnects and I think we figured it out why it happens: seems like a game wants much more resources during the loading than it needs, and some PCs can't handle it. I am not talking bad PCs, but a 1000€ PCs. This one is totally on the game and not the user as that PC can run the game on max setting without issues. Those are the main ones, if I wanted to mention every small bug we encountered a few times only this review would be like a small book. Now, when I got that out of the way let's talk about the goods. The game itself is pretty good game and it would be really good if it wasn't buggy. Gameplay is repetitive but addictive, solo and co-op experience is pretty fun. If you like Diablo and WH40K universe this game is a must try. I do not recommend paying the full price, get it on a sale it goes like 95% every few months. If you do not like Diablo ARPG style AND WH40K (yes, both) then I would skip this game. Story is okay-ish, it is a special storyline designed specifically for this game, so if you're looking for characters you know from WH40K, you won't find them here. DLCs: I would say generally they are not worth it even on a sale, but if you really like the game like I did and want all the achievements (there are DLC achievements) then get them on sale. Definitive Edition has them all, it costs 90€, wait for a sale if I recall it was 7.99€. Overall, would I recommend this game? I wish there was mixed option, so in this case I would recommend the game if you are a fan of the universe and this style of gameplay, like I am. 7/10
Hmmm, I'm curious why you're reading this. Certainly now as this product launched over seven years ago. It raises more questions than you may realize. That you're reading this at all, now. I know why I'm writing this. I'm genuinely troubled with why you'd want to read this though. There are Videos, upfront first thing you see. They play when you load the store page. There are hundreds of videos made about this very product. Thousands on it's subject. The description of the product here works real well. It Really Is Exactly That. Steam keeps records and shows some of them to us with a tap of the finger. Input device doesn't matter, one finger. There are pretty close to ten thousand English reviews at the moment. Mostly Positive is direct. That's what it is too. So whatever drove you to read this. What's that really about, I wonder. Can't make your own choices. Entirely too much information at your fingertip. In the vast everything these words are the anchor perhaps. No, no don't tell me. I didn't go lookin. Alright, now you know what I think. Buy it, since you need a direction. Try that one.
Bought to play with friend, cant play with friend just constant errors and bugs
I recommend Inquisitor for what it is - a simple if not deep action rpg, but it surely overstays it's welcome. It's a solid 7/10 game, buy on sale and you're gonna have a lot of fun. The game feels overwhelming at first, but soon you realize it's not that complicated. The story is absolutely fine and great at times, but the ending in base game and then in Prophecy alike leaves something to be desired. Also if you don't have at least general knowledge of WH40k lore, you might be really confused at times. The problem is it gets really repetetive in the last third of the game. There's a lot to explore and side quest, but if you do for one you're gonna get really overpowered (I am by no means an rpg player and still managed that) and secondly you realize most of that is the same mission with different environment and braindead AI, and it feels like an unnecessary filler. It would benefit greatly from better pacing and shorter story. Sound effect do most of the heavy lifting, soundtrack is okayish. Tha gameplay is fun when you're discovering it, gets old pretty quick, but it feels great to be this epic Inquisitor running through hordes of heretics, unclean ones and traitors. There's definitely replayability but it has to be tedious as the game has not that much to offer even though it tries to tell you otherwise. As said, buy on sale and if you want to play something you don't have to think much about, enjoy the story and can pick it up after longer periods not to be confused by controls or anything else, it's absolutely fine. The emperor protects
GG!! Fun Game!!!
