Fantastic Tactical game; brutal difficulty. Fun.
I finished this game after 51 hours playthroughs. In my opinion, it was absolutely worth it.
6.8 / 10 If you like XCOM and other tactics games you'll probably enjoy this. The developers did a lot of things right in this game, but unfortunately it is a bit unpolished. There are several bugs that cause the game to freeze on the enemy turn and force you to re-load a checkpoint. In my 50 hour play through I encountered that issue about 10 times, which is far too many. The combat is fun and there are some cool items to experiment with. Unfortunately there is very little in way of character customization so most of your troop just feels the same. I feel like the game overstays it's welcome. I was having a lot of fun with it, but somewhere around hour 25 or 30 it becomes a slog. Combat becomes slow and enemies very numerous. You spend half your time waiting for the enemy to make turns (even with the "fast" turn option on). I kept finding myself getting up to go to the bathroom or do a chore while the enemy turn played out. Not fun - frustrating. The last mission is the worst example of this - easily taking 90 minutes and at least half of that is waiting for the enemy turn. Also one of the lead characters is particularly annoying and I kept hoping for a point in the story where I could choose to kill her off, but unfortunately no luck. I liked this game, but it got worse the more I played. The bugs and slogging combat almost made me give up, but I did stick it out to the end. This is one game that I won't be revisiting or hunting for achievements.
At first, I thought this was my favorite game, but toward the end, when the mission with the gates starts, it turns into a real nightmare. I completed all the missions without any trouble, but I had bad luck in the first mission with the gates and i made a mistake and lost. Then I beat all the gate missions I’d managed to reach five times they were incredibly difficult, long, and always followed the exactly same pattern but I still failed the campaign after spending 56 hours on it, because the gate missions appear randomly, and you only have enough time for one; if you don’t complete it, you get a token, and once you’ve collected five, you’ve lost. After that, I watched how others played game they had different bosses and events but for some reason, in 56 hours, I only got one story mission. 5/5 Chaos Gates
good but pretty hard even for me

Good WH40K-themed XCOM clone, with its own little smart ideas
+
this game offers both challenging and a fun story involving a very secretive faction in Warhammer 40k.
Writing/story 8/10 Visuals 9.5/10 Gameplay 7/10 It's a great game and there are a lot of very recognizable characters and enemies, but where the game falls a little bit short is variation. I know it's a strategy game and it's very well made, but it just gets repetitive very quickly due to the missions taking a very long time each and combat being very slow. You're constantly outnumbered by enemies too. Some of these missions take huge maps and you have to chase objectives by just spending turns running. Making the weak enemies a little weaker, more numerous and having various "chain attack" type abilities would have made it better in my view, but maybe I played it sub-optimally.
