One of the best idle games on Steam right now. TIPS for beginners: _ Get the ANCIENT Tortoise asap (200 gems), it gives you tons of woods, and you gotta need a hell lot of woods. _ To make this game even more idle, focus on upgrading automatic Evolution first (cost DNA). The most obvious one is "Auto Battle", where fully upgraded will auto spend money & heal your units. _ To fast forward the battles, get a Pilot named CHICKIE. _ Don't be afraid to use Ascend, there is no downside. The main point is capturing as much locations as you can, and Ascend speeds it up a tons. Ascend also give you permanent boosts. _ Don't be afraid to spend on Equipments, the generated stats are based on what Equipments you currently have, not how deep you are into the level.
Lost all my progress because the game doesn't sync to Steam Cloud. Properly, or at all, don't know, don't care. The fact I lost all my data is all that matters. Edit for Developer(s): I'm past the point of caring. I already lost progress porting my mobile save to PC. Trying AGAIN, is not worth my time, and not worth my effort. Not to be rude or anything, of course, I enjoyed the game when it was just on mobile. But I had a significant amount of progress, the vast majority of which did not follow me into the PC port, so knowing that the majority of my thousands of hours of work is meaningless if I want to continue here, makes me not care.
WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IS GOING ON
Love the game, graphics gameplay. It's such a addictive and fun game. I highly recommend it
你倒是更新啊?????????
从手游过来的,跟手游几乎没有什么太大区别。作为挂机游戏还是可以的
I was a huge fan of the original War Tortoise, playing for many hours on iOS. That game was well-balanced, but no more than a loop of perks and rebirth bonuses with your highest level being your 'score'. This game is actually a port of its sequel, War Tortoise 2, and is a lot more ambitious because it gives you goals to aim towards. Namely the resurrection of the human race. And it does so through a campaign map that your tortoise travels around capturing bases that provide resources. Coming from the OG War Tortoise it's a big change and takes some warming to, but thankfully there is always the Demo to try-before-you-buy. As a Premium version of a freemium, ad-suppoted, game, I still have my doubts. The developers have unified the different premium currencies so that Pilots, Heroes, Legendary Tortoises, Equipments and Upgrades, and Mutations, all use the same premium currency, War Gems, that can be infinitely grinded just from a set of "Daily" missions, that actually refresh as soon as one set is completed, so that's good because it does not get in the way of long gaming sessions like it would on mobile devices, and you'll need lots of that currency when you are starting out. That being said, the original "Keys" system that you needed to unlock Equipment and Mutations (and could use for non-permanent War Supplies) do still exist as a reward for Hard Hero Quests and rare random drops. And the now infinite earning of War Gems completely devalues the point of capturing map positions for War Gems and rescuing hostages.. The game economy is also very unbalanced by having one Legendary Tortoise, the Ancient (200 War Gems), have a passive perk to multiply your Lumber rewards by x10. This makes it essential. Try and get it ASAP. I also don't see the point of capturing Gold Mines, for one-time rewards of money, and a permanent bonuses to offline earnings. Players don't need offline earnings of basic cash because they'll be playing the game earning way more, and when offline the rewards accumulated are effectively useless. This point is the essential difference between mobile gaming and PC gaming that the developers have ignored: time spent in the game not playing the game is a real-life waste of time and electricity. Playing the "game" but not advancing your strategic goal is a waste of time. Adventuring and Fishing are noob traps, not worth the opportunity costs. I bought the game in the Steam Winter Sale for a reasonable amount. It took a while to warm up to the new mechanics, and move past my frustration with the limitations and the imperfections. Overall it's a good game, but not a great one. The pew-pew is lots of fun, and performance-wise the game is very undemanding on hardware.
War Tortoise is a PC port of a mobile game called War Tortoise 2, the sequel to War Tortoise 1. The PC version is essentially a premium version of the mobile version that removes all micro-transactions and rebalances the game's economy to compensate for the removal of the micro-transactions. I personally have been a fan of the original mobile game and the prequel, and I will say that the PC version is much better than the mobile version for the sole reason of the removal of the micro-transactions. The game at its core is a pseudo idle game mixed with a stationary on rails shooter that is also a rogue-lite game where once you die you reincarnate into a new war tortoise and have all your upgrades reset back to level 1, but you get to keep any gear you have, all you mutations (which are permanent perks), and evolutions (permanent buffs). The game also borrows aspects from Mount & Blade where you travel around the map going to different points of interests to capture them, these points of interests often act as fast travel points (provided you build roads for it) and some of them can provide you with resources (Lumber Mill: generate lumber overtime, Gold Mine: increases the money you generate while you aren't playing the game, Crystal Mines: generate crystals for you to buy gear, characters, heroes, and different tortoises.). Overall I would say that this game is great for what it is, and it is a neat little PC port of a mobile game that is great if you want to ride around on a armoured tortoise with a bunch of guns mounted on to it while you shoot enemies and slowly build an entire army of little critters armed to the teeth with military grade weapons. Also for anyone unaware, Foursaken Media is one of the last mobile game developers from the Golden Age of mobile gaming, that is still around making games at a somewhat consistent level. They made a bunch of banger mobile games like Heroes & Castles, Bug Heroes, Block Fortress, and Noblemen 1896 (prequel to their upcoming PC exclusive, Noblemen 1986). If the devs read this review, please give us a PC port of Heroes & Castles 2 and please make a new Heroes & Castles game for the PC.
Surprisingly fun. It follows the usual formula for indie/mobile games where you grind out things at a painfully slow pace so that you buy the cash/gem items however the cash element was removed and you get those gems in an endless amount doing dailies or clearing tiers of a mine. You also get them randomly as you play in a multitude of ways. Heroes go on quest when not active so you want to recruit a lot up front as they also can have dailies assigned to them questing, you can do research to unlock new ways of earning premium currencies, some of the turtles have multipliers, there is a fishing and adventure minigame which are incredibly profitable. Overall, this game has enough going on to make it strangely compelling. I will say the turtle feels insanely weak at the start and you rely on units, but as you get higher tier equipment and get some mutations the turtle becomes a ridiculously strong battle platform and you can play manually with focus fire and it actually is a pretty decent turret shooter. Overall, I'm a big fan, my only gripe is that it could have had co op.
A little fun idle mobile game brought over to PC but unfortunately there's numerous problems that come with it. I'm running a 4070 TI and I'm having terrible fps issues even when adjusting their VERY limited settings. There's no in game information on specific enemy types, especially when going up against energy shielded enemies, which I still have no clue how to deal with because there's no tutorial or anything explaining their mechanics, no mention of them on the Steam forums or from googling. Most of the mechanics are very random and some in the style of loot boxes, so you better hope you're lucky! In its current state, War Tortoise is not a game I would recommend.
