Reviews
It could use more campaigns (only 1 exists) ... and the UI is unintuitive. But, it's a great game, worth getting.
very nice game

garbage UI, no steam workshop support. Stay away
GOAT
Spiel ist unrealistisch und hat viele Bugs und Fehler. Steuerung ist ein Albtraum. Wirkt nicht als ob das Spiel auch nur im geringsten fertig ist. Kauft es nicht !
good mods and good graphics
This is a good game! With some caveats, I enjoyed it - I passed it over for a couple of years since its release, after seeing some of the mixed initial reviews, but I'm glad to report that it's in a very stable and enjoyable place now. It's neither a hardcore technical simulation, nor an in-depth strategy - but it has elements of both, and some features like the damage/repair system certainly give it some very good details. The visuals are really good, especially for such a compact game, and frankly just the sights and sounds of a big battle alone are worth it - if you're into WWII Pacific history, it's hard not to get caught up in the moment watching a massed attack by aircraft, or a big-gun battle. The sandbox nature of the campaigns and the ability to manually control your units mean that there's lots to do, and good reasons to try different tactics. The biggest downsides for this game are the somewhat clunky campaign interface, some of the grind of doing repetitive tasks over and over (both in campaign and in tactical battles), and a fairly lackluster AI. While there are plenty of ways the opponent will put your units (especially fragile airplanes and destroyers) in danger, even at the highest difficulty levels it just doesn't feel like the enemy AI ever poses a real threat to your overall plans and progress. The enemy gets some very powerful units, especially early on, but shows little coordination between them. As a result, especially as you build up more powerful fleets of your own, it does often feel like a bit of a shooting gallery. That said, I am enjoying my time with it - and the mods for this game certainly do help, if you aren't too daunted by installing them. I've really enjoyed the Tokyo Express (TTE) mod, and plan to try the recent theater mods as well which have expanded the game into new areas. This isn't the perfect Pacific game, but even with some of the downsides, it's still worth checking out for anyone interested in the subject.
