1) Very time consuming, structurally. 2) Low time compression ratio is lethal to the game time efficiency, 5x max in combat tactics engagements. And Naval battle in WW II is SLOWWWW... sail long distances in ship speeds. 3) Default UI setting zooming often leads to problem. Better adjust the option video section before you even enter into tutorials, or you may get multiple errors like overlapped icons and wrong aspect ratio graphics. 4) Not quite the "Campaign" mode as some Strategy SLG people think. You don't bring the experienced troops / units with you to next stage... Not even within a battle. You rent (borrow) and return them for repair, like from a national Hertz vehicle center. No exp on units. Have to go with history fact limits. So basically a map-solving game, map by map. 5) Some other glitches: - Fighter air patrol does not auto intercept enemy planes they found; - Game does not auto pause for such encounters; - Formation sailing glitches as in other similar games; - New ship may sink for no reason shown at the beginning moment of combat; - Enemy position may be revealed at 0 second temporarily when loading campaign... etc.. And despite Air Power is a critical part in this game, as well as WWII Pacific Naval battles, this game seriously lack of information about anti air power / weapon mounted on ships and airplanes. -- On the other side, it suppresses power snowball / inflation, by setting points you gain from sinking enemy vessels to a minimum level; since these points you gain will lead you to have a even larger and stronger force. Good luck to search enemy subs in battle on a max of 5x time compression, and if eventually successful, 1 point for each enemy submarine you sink (10 points to building one). It's real.. but the max time compression is limited to 5x really hurts.
Oh, War on the Sea. It can be the most fun. CAN. Let's talk downsides first. Submarine warfare. A sub in player's hand is OP, game breaking OP. On the other hand, AI subs are annoying AF. And yes, it's their role to be harassing and annoying, but it feels like too much. On my first 8-hour game session, I spent 4 hours hunting subs. I had like a dozen of sub encounters and two surface engagements. I sunk 5 subs, and it didn't seem to make a dent. It was not fun. I have a 9 to 5 job, after that I go to my other job, which is putting up with a newborn and all the s**t my feisty toddler came up with. I don't need another job. My advice is, don't use subs and turn the AI subs off. Also, don't have kids. Then it's a lot of fun. The AI is sometimes funky. A convoy of 2 DDs, 1 CL and 4 merchant ships charged my 3 CAs banzai style. As you may predict, I've wiped the floor with them. I would understand sacrificing expandable warships to slow me down and give time for the convoys with troops on them to run the hell out. That's what I would do. Maybe. But that's not what happened. Also, I assume that you know that the game is slower than playing chess... by traditional mail. It's a vibe, I'm into that vibe. I have spent a lot of time in Silent Hunter. Send help. But funky AI aside and with the subs off, surface engagements are a lot of fun. Bombing the enemy ships is a spectacle. Too bad that after air to surface engagement, the enemy fleet magically teleports. I had my own strike group chasing that fleet, now I've lost all my progress in catching up with them! But it's still fun. Combined air and surface engagements are the most fun. Bomb/torpedo the heaviest ships first, and then finish the job with your strike group. I fondly remember my fight with an enemy group containing a battleship. I didn't have a battleship, but my bombers managed to damage BB's rotor and disable it's rear turrets. I was carefully manoeuvring my strike group to stay as long as possible in the battleship baffle. I had just enough time to deal with all the other ships before the battleship was able to get frontal guns in arc. After which I run like a little girl. The campaign is actually pretty short, after finishing it, you feel like the game wasn't worth the money. But wait, the game is just a blueprint, mods add so much content! Overall, I recommend the game. And if you happen to like the ASW part of this game... I'm fine with that, but also go touch some grass.
Good .
Its very spasific. i like it sortove. it can make me realy mad and frustraited with how the game can be somtimes. but i play fore the fun action cens and the tacticinal thinking trying to out smart the AI can be hard and that makes it fun. most of the time. I would mabey recomend it. Its a game to sit back and not to get to invested in it. just play to play. I hope i will ceep playing this game!. IN my opinion! if the develipores sece this!. the game would need! an update to fix some of it bigest problems. and maby graphics too. IE update the ship models. With that saiyng the ships are kinda qute. Like a cartoon. big windoes and not too detaild.
This is a good game. This is still a good game! Any naval warfare fanboy will be safitified with it. Is it a spiritual successfor to '1942 Task Force'? Sort of ... yeah. There is no direct ship control from bridge or gun control. But map-level tactical control over a combat is good. Strategic level is good as well. And it is where the game resembles '1942 Task Force' the most. What put a great smile on my fae was connection between tactival and strategic views. I has a situation where I was approaching a convoy with a sub. And in middle of action suddenly my airstrike arrived. This allowed for a somewhat coordinated attack. Satified me :-)
This is a good game, but if the they add multiplayer, it will become the best naval game at all time
i enjoy the fact i can bring massed fire
