great way to learn and love the old style naval battles, very realistic
unintentionally recreated the sinking of the yamato
It runs fairly well on my laptop. I would recommend it to my friends but they don't enjoy naval combat much.
love the game honestly, i feel some of the reviews are a bit harsh the game does have some issues definitely but I don't think its quite as bad as some of the reviews say, and some of them are just skill issues lol and I don't think the UI is bad I found it pretty clear besides a few buttons not being labeled , also not being able to access settings unless at main menu was slightly annoying at first. Modding community is fantastic too, the full pacific campaign is something to experience if you have some patience
War on the sea was a pleasant surprise as I generally like the pacific theater history and I've seen all the movies. It seems to be well thought out - initially - but in practice it has gotten a few things very wrong, especially regarding AI and doctrines. To mention some of the great stuff, the graphics are lovely, the damage models are quite good. One can really feel the struggle of the sailors to put out fires on ships, the fires can spread and cause magazine explosions, this stuff is awesome. It can make me watch the ship burning for 5 minutes and actually enjoy it (the first couple of times). The campaign gameplay is also quite engaging although this is where things start to feel a little weird, along a couple of in-mission tweaks that could help the grind of having to sink hundreds of enemy ships. I don't enjoy the submarine spam, as well as how the enemies are so aggressive. Therefore this is the first game I actually tried to mod myself and to bring it to some kind of state that campaign AI won't totally suck. My results were actually quite good in that regard, so I think I might continue to try and improve it myself.
