Very pleasant (and smart) visual style that SHOULD hold up well in keeping immersion-breaking performance issues at bay while still delivering that "beyond the blocks" experience. I have high hopes, @Developer, please do not pull a bait and switch on me at release and make me cry! I say do not make me cry, for we have a dinner date together, your game and I, presumably to unleash fiery hell upon those whom would call themselves our keepers... those whom took our mind from us... let their pain and suffering fill the void their trickery has left within!! ...or perhaps something a bit more moderate... ;)
Only a short bit of interacting in the all too brief trailer, and although the environments for the most part looked quite sparse, it still seems impressive nonetheless, if this is what the devs are building on. Top notch voice acting. Looks like a taste of something good to come. Just over a day to wait.... And methinks I'm going to grab it!
Well I have been waiting for this game for quite some time and was so surprised when I saw this demo/trailer!! ohhhh this is only I guess 11min long but such an awesome 11 minutes. The graphics are outstanding. The voice acting is excellent. Most of all, the story line is what origianlly peeked my interest in this game and being in it was pretty great. Actually feeling the fire shooting from my hands was pretty damn cool. :) I can hardly wait the 4 days left. lol Please let it be affordable.
"VR INTERACTIVE TRAILER: Runes" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Runes". Runes is a simple, short VR exclusive action game where you wave your arms around to "cast spells", which was largely a failure, to the point the developers gave up (but at least made it free). But that raises the question, then, why is it good for gamers to have this short advertisement in place for something that's free? If ou want to play Runes (spoiler: Almost nobody wanted to play Runes), just download it. This advert is no longer serving the original purpose of trying to get you to shell out a whopping TWENTY FIVE BUCKS to buy Runes (yes, they really thought they could get that much money off gamers!). But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Runes, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "VR INTERACTIVE TRAILER: Runes" too. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
VR INTERACTIVE TRAILER: Runes is a free VR VR INTERACTIVE TRAILER for the new game Runes. It worked on my system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. It did have an interactive part where you are shooting fire bolts and tossing fire balls, at oncoming enemy targets for a minute. It was around 7 minutes in total. I think the story and graphics that was in the trailer, did make me interested into trying the game. The voice acting was pretty good. They should have put the whole date that the game releases in the beginning and store page, so we can know that this is old and not worth downloading. The game was released in 14 Nov. 2018. Or pulled this trailer from the store after the game release. Try this or not, that is the question now. Better to actually play the Free game, since it has released in Nov 2018.
