Played On: HTC Vive
Remember those old cartridge games that tried to impress you by boasting a collection of titles that you'd never heard of, only to disappoint you tremendously when you found out that every single game was complete garbage? That pretty well sums up VR Chair Games. It has a whopping 9 mini-games, one of which actually managed to ruin my entire night; no, I'm not joking or exaggerating. Let me preface this review by stating that I do not get motion sickness easily, only a handful of virtual reality games have made me nauseous, but this one was hands down the worst. Right now I'm sitting here, writing this review and trying to fight the urge to go puke. I'm also trying to get my head to stop spinning. It took this game all of three seconds to make me nearly lose my supper during one of the games, Soaring Eagle, where the developer thought it was a GREAT idea to start the game by making the camera spin around as fast as it could multiple times and in several directions. I didn't even make it into the actual content of that mini-game, I closed my eyes and exited back to Home before any more damage could be done. So before I go and literally vomit (as so many people joke about doing), let me give you a run down of the other "games". - Zombie Apocalypse: Use giant axes to attack zombies that don't come close to you and would rather fight each other than you. They also can't hurt you. - Alien Attack: Shoot giant aliens that don't hurt you. - Colony Outpost: On-rails bug shooter where the bugs can't hurt you. - Leprechaun's Gold: Look around and stare at a leprechaun to "capture" him. Over, and over. - Blacksmith's Forge: Pick up sword, put on forge, pound with hammer, dip in bucket. Repeat. - Championship Tennis: Serve ball, AI serves it back, but even if you get it back over the net the AI won't hit it back to you. - Soaring Eagle: SCREW THIS PIECE OF FECES. - Wild Rider: Steer a motorcycle while avoiding cars on an endless stretch of highway. - Balloons & Arrows: The worst bow and arrow game in VR history. There's really not much else to say. The graphics are abhorrent, there is no variety in the character models, the scores don't even save, and they're literally all the worst games possible. I'm actually extremely ticked at this developer right now for sincerely ruining my night. It took me about 20 minutes to type this all up, and my head is still spinning thanks to three seconds of blatant negligence on their part. Rest assured, I will never buy a product from them in the future. Thanks for the free key, and the free vertigo.
Rating: 0.5/5.0 - Abysmal, avoid it like the plague.
The VR Network Curator | Group Click for More The developer provided a free copy of this game for review, through The VR Network's Curation page.
Horrible, everything about it. Movements are nauseating. Controls are no good.
I paid $1.19 as part of a bundle sale for this title. Even at this low price, I cannot recommend this game. There's just too many bugs and the gameplay is overall not very fun. If you love cheesy films that are so awful that they end up entertaining you, then you may want this game. But the bugs are difficult to overlook. 1) Zombie Apocalypse: You walk around and press trigger to two giant axes and swing away and zombies walking towards you from all directions. Blood splatters all over you. Cheesy fun. Rate 4/10 2) Alien Attack: 360 wave shooter with giant heptapod aliens ... the gun laser is facing the wrong direction of the gun, so you can't aim down sights... giant aliens are no real threat ... cheesy fun was possible, if it weren't for game breaking bug. Rate 4/10 3) Colony Outpost: on-rails wave shooter, nice graphics, nice smooth ride, but again, laser is facing wrong direction of gun so aiming is not immersive... flying bugs are no challenge .. Rate 3/10 4) Leprechaun's Gold: You look for a leprechaun hiding 360 around you. You have to stare at that ugly thing. Problem is that it's difficult to tell when you're staring right at it. This is the definition of cheesy horror thrills and add to that the eerie child sounds .... Rate 5/10 5) Blacksmith's Forge: You need roomscale to reach the hammer. So much for 'chair games vr.' Boring. Nice visual. But I don't see the point. Rating 3/10. 6) Championship Tennis: A buggy mess. Hit detection is not even close. Ball returned on its own. Rate 2/10 7) Soaring Eagle: Nice graphics. I liked it okay. Flying is done by gaze. First you go through hoops, then look for feathers. Rate 5/10. 8) Wild Rider: So much missed potential here. You basically use your joystick to move left or right and then trigger to brake. You can't speed up. Traffic only goes one way, even though road is setup for two way. This is a big missed opportunity. This could have been an awesome game. Let us grab the handlebars and hit the gas and race down the highway the wrong way. But nope. Still okay fun. Rate 5/10. So there were no really good games. Just some okay mediocre games mixed with horrible or broken games. I liked the cheese factor in most of the the games, but I just can't overlook the game-breaking bugs. Do not buy. Rating 3/10 **Edited to correct typos**
This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TERRIBLE. I went into this expecting little to nothing AND STILL they somehow managed to disappoint. There are 5 games, each one worst than the last. Imagine my excitement when I learn that there is a blacksmithing VR game within this pack of games! Hoh boy was I estactic, so naturally I picked it first.... I played it for a good 3 minutes before realizing literally the ONLY thing you do is pick up an already made sword, pick up a hammer and bang it for three times for 100 points each. THERE ISN'T EVEN A POINT COUNTER IN THE GAME. WHY THOUGH?!? At least the blacksmith room looks nice. The other games you may ask? Just as ♥♥♥♥. Alien Shooter: Repetitive shooting gallery with 100% rip offs of Striders combined with Hunters from HL2:Ep2. Tennis: Barely works at all, the ball will 50% of the time go right through your racket. Dumbass Zombie Game: It sucks. The physics suck, the locomotion sucks, you only get two axes and for some reason they only appear while you're holding the triggers, otherwise they vanish into the other dimension. Leprechaun Hunt: You look around a forest and stare at leprechauns for points while a child talks in the background. Escape from Bug Island: The environment here actually looks pretty cool. You go through a pretty neat viking longhall. The objective was to "you need to kill all the bugs" fortunately the bugs don't attack you so it's a pretty neat, nauseating tour through an empty viking longhall. Easily the best game in the bundle (oh and the shooting is just as ♥♥♥♥ as alien shooter) And lastly some Spaceship Piloting game: Turned it on for half a second, immediately felt sick as you use your head to steer and quit. ♥♥♥♥ that, ♥♥♥♥ this game. Do not buy under ANY circumstances. Luckily I got this game in a bundle and the other 14 games were at least worth a few cents. I wouldn't even play this game if it were free.
Just dont. If you are reading this: no, do not buy. Broken, buggy, no fun... this is VR garbage at its finest... and I got it really cheap.
