Volotic is an experimental nonlinear sequencer by artist Scott Garner. What does that even mean? It means a fun way to create songs for everyone, with no musical experience required. In Volotic, you compose a song by arranging a selection of "towers" on a grid.

Boring. Got it in a bundle. I tried to like it. I really did. Price is outrageous.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I got this in a bundle. Game came out for less than 1 dollar. I'm not sure this app is worth $10, but I'm going to recommend it because it's so easy to use. It's probably the easiest music creation app for VR. It's also rather limited due to the simplicity of the design. It has limited sounds, but you can vary the rhythm, pitch, sequence of the sounds so it does make for lots of variety within the limited sounds. You honestly don't even need to know what you're doing. You can just put random tiles next to each other and watch the ball bounce and then figure it out. That's another nice thing, even if you don't have the best music ear, you can visually see how the sound is made by looking at the visual representation of the sound. I think this app is perfect for kids or just anyone without music talent. However, I think anybody who is musically well-versed will probably not like the limitations of this app. Still, it's nice to create your own sounds and this app lets you easily do that and it won't sound bad at all no matter what you do. Rate 6/10. It's good, just know what it is and what it isn't. Definitely buy on sale.
Was considering buying this but got lucky when it was included in the Indiegala bundle. I think it would have been well worth the asking price. There are a few flaws (the movement UX is a bit basic - this was a rushed port from a non-VR app by the look of things) but the core functionality is interesting and original. You could have a lot of fun playing with this. I really hope the developer is motivated to flesh out the few gaps in current functionality: lack of export, primitive locomotion and lack of extensibility.
Creative and interesting little utility! You place the discs/icons in a 3d grid, and each disc responds different. Essentially, create a path for the little white ball to travel along, with noise making discs along the way, which plays your song. Works pretty well, though I couldn’t quite figure out the movement, or if/how to rotate discs. (Being unable to rotate means it’s not really 3D; it’s just a bunch of 2D panels laid on top of one another, none of them interact with one another. You could consider these “tracks” … though, in VR, I’d like to be able to rotate a disc, and have it jump from track to track.) Cool concept, I can appreciate the uniqueness and innovation here. Thumbs: UP!
