Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Let me just walk you through a very real scenario to show you how clunky this game can be... You find a weapon in a chest in the field! Ooh wow very cool! BUT. You just bought that same weapon from the store. Uh oh. So, this game restricts you from having multiple of the same equipment items for some reason, and so, you will have to take a few steps to even loot the chest so it's marked open on your map. 1. You travel to town to sell the weapon you have (because you cannot drop/destroy equipment in your inventory) 2. You have to switch the character's class to the one that uses the weapon 3. Equip a different weapon 4. Sell the the weapon that's a duplicate of the chest weapon 5. Travel BACK to the chest 6. Open the chest 7. Equip the chest weapon on the class you really didn't even want to use 8. Switch the character back to the class you were using in the first place Fun wasn't it? There's a bunch of these odd inconsistencies in the refinement of this game.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

After playing thorough this game, I can kind of understand the mixed reception as I also have mixed feelings. I want to like this game more, but I just can’t. I cannot deny that the combat is a lot of fun and quite honestly the highlight of this game for me, but it is everything else that is not fun. Especially the story and the characters themselves which made me want to stop playing multiple times about halfway through but I managed to persevere to the end mainly because of the combat. The story tries it’s best to grip you, but ultimately falls flat when you take into account the whole reason any of these characters are on this adventure to begin with.
The ultimate goal of the main party is to go to the Mana Tree and ultimately sacrifice their souls (die) so that some calamities won’t happen to the land. But the problem here is how everyone acts like they are perfectly fine with this and even go so far as to treat it as some kind of high honor. None of them have any problems with it. Some actually want to be chosen for the task knowing full well what is going to happen at the end of it, and anyone who showed any kind of sensible resistance to it ends up dying by some other means. Close to the end of the game I actually started agreeing with the bad guy because even he cannot understand why they are doing what they are doing. Expecting groups of people to sacrifice themselves for the world every few years is just not feasible, even in a fantasy game. Ain’t no world out there with such a selfless population of people.
Then there are the characters themselves. That is another whole can of worms that I did not like. Most of them are either way to generic, boring, or just too weird for my liking. You have Val, your stereotypical cookie cutter hero. You know the one. Always altruistic, wanting to help anyone and everyone in need, puts the world before himself at all costs. Same tired protagonist trope that has been done to death with zero depth or complexities to make him stand out at all. Careena is the brat of the group with a strange southern drawl (even though her parents do not talk like that) because every anime RPG game has to have a childish character in the group I guess. Usually, I have a soft spot for characters like that because they can add to a game in good ways, but not really here. Whenever she talks it is groan inducing because she hardly ever has anything good to say. Morley honestly weirds me out the most out of everyone. He’s a very androgynous beast boy with a very deep voice. It is so jarring and clashes with his overall character that it just does not work in my opinion. I know he is a beast man, but his look does not work with that voice weather he is human or not. Palamena is the prim and proper queen and the one who I’m sure most people like. Like Val though she suffers from a lot of the same problems of being almost too generic of the type of character she is. However out of everyone she has the best design at least. Julei is the only one I did not mind that much as he did make me chuckle a few times. The story and cut-scenes tend to drag on for way too long and also many times throughout the game, there will be a string of cut-scenes before you ever get back to the actual combat. It will have you run to a spot and watch a cut-scene, only to have run to another spot sometimes only a few steps away from where you are and watch another cut-scene. A lot of these cut-scenes don’t really add much to the story and there are many moments like this. You can cut a lot of unnecessary dialogue and needless detours with no fighting out of this game and you would not be missing anything. I said earlier that the combat was the highlight of the game, but the problem is there is not really enough of it and way too many cut-scenes that add next to nothing to the story. Especially in the later half of the game. Since the story is more of a snooze fest than anything, it really doesn’t help the game at all. I cannot in all good conscious recommend this game to anyone who wants a good story, however if you are able to somehow look past an RPG with an uninteresting story and uninteresting characters, then at least the combat is fun.
Visions of Mana was a pretty tough one to rate. It has some very solid sides to it, but also some incredibly frustrating ones. I feel like a lot of reviewers are glancing too much over the problematic aspects of the game in favor of the positives ones, so I decided to write a negative review to highlight the definitely annoying sides of VoM. I really wanted to put a thumbs up, ―but not even Palamena's THICC THIGHS AND FLOOFY TAIL I WANNA STRO― *cough* [strike]Sorry, lost myself for a second there[/strike] ―but not even the best aspects of this game can save it from being dragged down to the ground by lots of bad design decisions that ultimately leave a sour taste in your mouth.
The good :
- Gorgeous environments from start to finish. The art team put a ton of work here, and it's a real treat for the eyes. The world is colorful, and rich in details. A real pleasure to navigate through. - Nice character designs with lots of different costumes depending on the element you attach to your party members. - Lengthy storyline that'll take you to lots of different areas. (I guess it's a plus?) - Lots of skills and "accessories" (Ability Seeds) to tweak your characters to your liking. (But in practice, it's not that simple, see below) - Decent OST. Nothing stellar, but some good tracks here and there.
The bad :
- Tedious and unrewarding exploration. Too many collectibles to grab left and right over vast expanses of land. Feels nice the first few maps, but it rapidly becomes annoying. On top of that, treasure chests give the same garbage loot 95% of the time. Only once in a blue moon will you find something actually useful. - Clunky combat and incredibly dumb AI. Hits are difficult to connect, your spells or item usage will not register 50% of the time because of the way they work in this game (which has to do with your character being in motion at the moment the order is given). Couple that with your companion AIs being dumb as f-ck and dying all the time, and you are in for a bad time, most of the time. Also, some classes are really bad at connecting hits because they do not move forward enough with each attack, which means you're gonna slice air instead of enemies regularly. Offensive magic doesn't feel worth it compared to melee. And MP is usually scarce during long fights so you wanna save it for buffs, debuffs, and/or heals instead. MP scarcity starts to go away in the late parts of the game, but at this point you're not enclined to start using offensive magic anyway (that was my perception at least). Overall, the entire thing feels like a mess. The devs wanted to do too many things at once, and they achieved nothing really polished in the end. - When I talked about tedious and unrewarding exploration, that was not limited to the world itself. Quests are also numerous (over a hundred) and tedious too. 90% of the time it's about slaying monsters and the like, with trash items as a reward. Déjà-vu, anyone? The farther you are into the game, the more frustrating this becomes: You just want to finish the story, but the game says "Nope, lemme just throw you another two dozen quests all over the world just to piss you off". Not an issue if you're not going for all achievements or 100% quests completion, but otherwise this is definitely going to get on your nerves, big time. - Linear dungeons and boringly simple puzzles bring down the enjoyment you get from the eye-candy environments. - Tediousness from questing and exploration is doubled down by the fact that you can only fast travel between locations on the same continent. If you need to travel to another continent that you previously visited, you have to manually travel there by sea or air, and only then can you fast travel to locations in said continent. To make things worse, the devs had the wonderful idea of unlocking new quests after every main story chapter, and dispersing them on every continent every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time, which means that if you want to do them, you have to backtrack to other continents manually. And for garbage rewards, no less. Nice. - Predicable story, and annoying MC. I got nothing against Takuma Terashima as a VA, but I can't listen to him at high doses. I guess he fits the MC's character personality, but the latter is the real issue here. Story feels like it was written for kids which is, I guess, fine for some but really boring for most. Something slightly more mature would've been welcome but then again, with the story being this subpar in depth, I guess this is all you can expect. Small redemption at the end, at least. - Really subpar English translation. If you understand spoken Japanese to some degree, you'll see that the translators love translating what the Japanese actors say into something completely different. Well, this translation problem has been seen all over the gaming industry for many years now, so it's definitely not new. Sad to see this game being part of the ever-growing "trash translations" pile of games.
Conclusion :
The studio tried their best, but ultimately the tediousness wins over the rest. Every time you start liking the game, its boring exploration, frustrating combat and questing all come back to slap you in the face and remind you that yes, this game is a chore to play. Maybe they could've redeemed themselves in their next game but unfortunately, all of the staff was laid off shortly after the game released. A shame, because had the game direction been better, this game could've been something truly memorable. Alas. Verdict : Is it worth playing [strike]for Palamena[/strike]as a JRPG? Yes, absolutely. Is it worth paying full price for it? No, definitely not. Wait for at least a 30% sale before considering a purchase.
Disappointing. Studio was gutted during the last portion of development, and it's clearly visible. The game is playable start to finish, but is missing a lot of content and clearly unfinished. Good for what it is in that case, but the story falling off a cliff at the end is really saddening. They almost had an interesting thing going on, and...it died.
I really wish we could give games something in between recommended and not recommended on Steam, because while this game definitely has elements some will appreciate it, it's really hard to "recommend it" to any but a very particular crowd. Essentially, this game is very mid. It's the kind of game that would have been considered good 20 years ago, but we've all grown to expect more from the genre, especially from Square Enix. On the positive side, this game is aesthetically an absolute gem. A bright, colorful fantasy world, with a very lively world and a charming, colorful cast of characters. It's exactly what you'd expect from the Mana series. The game also has a pretty rich class system with lots of options for customization for your party, but it's not something you have to think deeply about unless you crank up the difficulty. On the negative side, the gameplay loop is an extremely run of the mill action RPG. Go from point A to B, beat up some bad guys in between, maybe find a treasure chest or two along the way or complete a side quest, go buy the next best equipment at the shop, rinse, repeat. If you've played any JRPG since the 90's, you've experienced this before. The combat system is fine; if you liked Trials of Mana, you'll like this too. Passable but not trilling. A so-so RPG can absolutely be redeemed by a great story, but unfortunately, this game does not have that. I don't know how to describe the writing in this game, but everything is very dull. Not for lack of trying; there are absolutely the bones of a great story, but it just not come together at any stage. Which is such a shame, because as I said, I really liked the characters in this game. It's almost as if the game's script just had one more draft to punch things up a bit, it'd be good, but it just doesn't do much for me. Maybe I'm just spoiled by masterclasses of JRPG storytelling like the Xenoblade games, but I don't know, I don't feel like I should have to grade games on a curve when I know there are better things out there. It probably sounds weird that I'm recommending this game, and again I'll say that there are probably people out there that will see past the flaws and enjoy it for what it is. It's not a bad game at all, it's just not a great one. It's the definition of average, and sometimes that's OK. If they make a Mana 6 (which I hope they do), I just hope that they liven up the combat and get stronger writing, because I think this series deserves it.
Я раджу пройти Visions of Mana.
The game comes of as kiddie at times but its actually pretty hard with characters sacrificing their own lives to save the world, the lands are stunning and do feel like the old mana world to me. The game was developed by Ouka Studios and on the day of release most of the staff got fired because of corporate greed, Its sad how vile and corrupt the gaming industry has become. Pros: The open worlds to explore The Art style Combat is good and alot of fun Many big boss fights Different classes and abilities to customize (Lunar tank spec for Val is my preferd style) AI behavior settings for all party members The main story is very good Has some humor sometimes High quality voice acting Cons: To much dialog altough many can be skipped unlike most peeps say otherwise in their comments Some dialog feels like its written for kids altough several important characters die which is a weird mix for me. The ring menu and quick menus are made for playing with a controller Side quest are pretty straight forward with no story No coop option just solo Personal score: 8 (certainly not the 50% from recent reviews) Its sad to me that this wil be the last Mana game and how the developers where treated If any of the developers every read this review, thank you for letting me feel the magic of Mana once more.
hm first 20 hours are great. combat great, visuals great. the story falls so damn flat of it's potential though, i was relieved when the credits rolled. too bad since there were many themes that could have been explored, however the devs decided to make a happy game and the last 20 hours consisted mostly of mindless chatter, which sadly made the parts that werent mindless not even feel enjoyable.
