🎮 Viking Saga: Epic Adventure 🎮
Keine großen Makel also! Einziges Manko in meinen Augen: Fehlende Errungenschaften.
Short version: 30%
Viking Saga 3 has a few good ideas left in it, but the level design feels too tired, repetitive, and vexing to enjoy any of them.
Long version:
Repetition is a large part of time/resource managers, but good games can make it feel like a fun challenge instead of pure tediousness. Viking Saga III: Epic Adventure is not such a good game. The core is the same as in the previous Viking Sagas: we build houses for rental income, which we then spend on building production buildings so we can gradually clear the map of all obstacles. For the most part, the balance in resources is great; with some planning, we will never really lack any of them. Additionally, their flow is constant enough to keep the stages going without any downtime. The problem is that what we do is not fun. The longer we play, the more tiresome gimmicks appear, which force us to repeat the same sub-tasks constantly. All of this is there to mask the weakening level design—it is as if the developers completely ran out of ideas, so they reused and significantly toned up some cheap tricks to hide the game’s shortcomings with even worse decisions. I wish there were any redeeming features here, but beyond the solid gameplay basics, the finale of the Viking Saga does nothing but disappoints.
Easier than the previous games in the series, which makes it less frustrating, but also less interesting. The level design is generally good; some levels drag a bit, and the paths through tunnels could be more clearly marked, but I like the amount of freedom you have in what to build where. Widescreen is implemented awkwardly; if you click past the boundaries of where a 4:3 monitor would cut off, the edges of the screen flash red and a "locked" notification pops up. It's ugly, and it's hard to tell at a glance which trees are inside the boundary and clickable and which are not without hovering your mouse over everything. A minor annoyance, although I do appreciate that the developers wanted to make sure the game didn't break on non-widescreen monitors. Anyway, this is a solid time management game, if not a particularly memorable one, and fans of the genre should enjoy it.
Cool and fun entertaining game. Theres about 40 levels to play. They last 10-20min each approximately if you know how to play them. They are quite simple and intuitive :)
It's one of the worst Time management game i have ever played. The story is hollow and about half levels are based on mist and campfire to light again and again... It's so boring !
Great game for everyday relax. But too short.
I say... OK. This is a Time Management game. The graphics are simple. The music is OK. The story is nothing relevant and a skeletal narrative at best. No bugs or crashes. Overall, entertaining but there's nothing new to the old formula for games like this. If you like the genre you gonna enjoy the simple mechanics and the casual playtime. It's long enough for the price. It can get a bit repetitive and the missions could be more creative. Anyway, there's no real reason to not play it other than playing better things, of course. This is the last game of 3, by the way, but I don't think the poor story is that important to play them in any sequential order. Keep on killing that backlog.
