About
A THRILLING STORY
The year is 1888, the war against the ruthless "Nation" is coming to a head and threatens to completely destroy the alternate land of Hemera. As a last resort to save their world, Jules Verne and Captain Nemo embark on a search for the source of the power of Atlantis aboard the infamous submarine Nautilus.
If the legends are to be believed, an ancient artefact lies buried there that has the power to change the course of history: the Flame of Hephaestus! An artefact whose mighty power was once responsible for both the rise and fall of legendary Atlantis.
On his journey, Jules Verne will not only discover unimaginable wonders and mysteries - he must also confront a dark and seemingly overpowering entity whose sole ambition is to eradicate the power of imagination from the minds of all the people of Hemera ... including his!
Not really a game
It's more of an interactive story book than a game, a 2D walking simulator, but in the simplest sense. Most of the levels are just long panoramas where you walk and trigger the dialogs and story. Sometimes you must go all the way to the left or the right of the platforms, to not miss the "hidden" collectibles (for achievements). There's a bit of gameism included, such as simple point-n-click puzzles, a couple stealth sequences that are more annoying than anything, and some easy puzzles (except the last puzzle that you'll need a walkthrough for). One of the levels is just a long back and forth through the labyrinthine nautilus hallways, with the pretext of dialogs with various crew members, very well modeled level, but extremely tedious to play. The game leaves the domain of fantasy to become a bit of a Jules Vernes documentary film, toward the end. The protagonist talks like a moronic wimp and his excessive use of french profanities is ridiculous. At the start of the game you'll notice the shifty publisher ("assemble") and the fact that the game's sponsor is a terrorrist organization (the european union). So this game has everything that should make me hate it right?...But tbh I mildly appreciated playing it. It's an honest story, coherent, and more interesting than most videogames. The author told his story uncompromisingly and went all the way. The whole narrativist experience reminds me a bit of Another World (1991). So FU, I liked it. Some of the sequences have a strong mood and one sequence has a bit of a Monkey Island atmosphere (the original game), unfortunately the second half of the game feels a bit rushed, but it was to be expected. The pixelart is far from stellar, but it doesn't ruin the game. Some of the backgrounds have a lot of work put into. If you're a fan of steampunk and/or 19th century, you should give it a try. Just make sure you buy it on a sale (no more than a couple dollars). And since this game was funded with my own money (stolen from me by the EU), you can go for it, this one's on me lad. i love it
Recomendado.
A nice little tale but some parts of the story were quite convoluted. But lovely art. Buy if on sale, plays very linearly
An intriguing adventure that mixes Verne's creations with puzzles and exploration of a beautiful pixel world.
Historia interesante.
This was my first Steam game and it was exactly the experience I needed with my favourite author and an art style of which I was sceptical but now truly enjoy.
The art style is mesmerizing, it very well suits games steampunk style and the antique mosaics were gorgeous! Story line is good, in my opinion it was quite intriguing and reflected on a deeper moral question
about facing the cruel world or succumbing to ones own madness but in a lighter tone.
I enjoyed the historical facts from Jules Vernes life, though the best ones were little accents in the background capturing moments from his works. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, game can be enjoyed by both Vern fans (if they don't mind an artistic interpretation on works of the author offering something new) and those who haven't read him, because the game also slowly introduces to who Jules Vern was.
