About
As you turn the pages, you'll make choices, face down enemies, and grow. You can charge in with a sword in hand, talk your way out of danger, or simply ignore it and keep walking.
Every choice you make and every roll of the dice changes the way the world responds to you.
Yoshio Nishimura, a 30-year veteran of the games industry from Vanillaware (Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim), spent six years in a remote Japanese mountain village crafting this game on his own.
Every single one of the 300+ illustrations was drawn by his own hand. No generative AI was used at any stage. This game has a soul that can only be found in something truly handmade.
Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, Dungeon Meshi — Beneath the fantasy worlds we celebrate today lie the gamebooks and tabletop RPGs that first gave them form.
Veritas Tales returns to that moment — to the true weight and texture of swords, sorcery, and rolls of the dice. Savor once again what we first called fantasy, on pages that remember how it all began.

The artwork is gorgeous in a remarkably unique way, the story has a lot of depth and mystery to it. Basiscape provides a beautiful soundtrack as always. The game does a great job making you want keep turning the page to see what happens next. I did have a minor interface issues, there aren't any window settings. The game opened in a full HD window but was offset so the top of the screen was cut off. Used Alt+Enter to fullscreen the game and that worked fine. Don't let that deter you from enjoying a truly unique gem of a game.
Great game. Needs some work on the interface to bring it up to par to similar VN. Badly needs the ability to look at the inventory when you're on the map screen
+ Good fantasy genre music, catchy battle bgm, thanks Basiscape + Art is good, love the Vanillaware aesthetic + If you're into short game, it's a short one, probably 5-6 hours for one playthrough + I think the story is good. I don't mind the simple plot. The pacing is fine. At least I'm not bored, there are many interesting stuff that keeps it going.
This game is just delightful in every way. You can tell it was the product of a singular vision trying to capture a specific feeling, and it nails it. Gorgeous art, an intriguing story, lots of fun twists to the gameplay, and it seems to be pretty lengthy as well, with multiple playthroughs with both characters being necessary to untangle the whole mystery.
This really is like one of those classic adventure books with some RPG stuff in it. If you have ever opened a book copied the last page for RPG stats and tracking then made choices and did battles... This is like that with Vanillaware type display. The art is very good, the 'game' is neat and features a Scenario A / B thing. I would recommend if you are into those old style "book choice rpgs" but if you are expecting something a bit more than some choices and battles with decisions, you might be a bit disappointed. The story is solid, and there are definitely secrets abound. I'm glad there are a bunch of extra solutions that involve the items and sequencing. I just wish I had a guide... well if only cause I want to see some of the more obscure stuff
