About
The game takes place on the Western Front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history - inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916.
Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War One setting, the game which started the WW1 Game series. The vicious close quarters nature of trench warfare means that skill with a bayonet can be as vital as good aim with a rifle.
The game offers 4 distinct game-modes with many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium. The dynamic Frontlines game mode features 64 players taking turns to go over the top and attempt to capture the opposing trench line.
Experience World War One gameplay: Accurate weaponry with realistic bullet physics, skill based weapon handling, poisonous gas with a claustrophobic gas mask experience, horrendous gore effects, and ferocious artillery barrages
Tactical squad-based FPS: 15 distinctive squad types representing soldiers from 5+ countries, each with distinct weapons and equipment
True trench warfare: Real-time dynamic frontline with momentum based attack and counter-attack gameplay
Authentic World War 1 setting: Typical WW1 music and style, historical battlefields representing the most active parts of the Western Front
Challenging game modes: team-based Frontlines, tactical Attrition, skill-based Rifle Deathmatch, and relentless Squad Defense
The gameplay in this true WW1 battlefield experience is as immersive and gritty as it can get, with features such as optional realistic gore which portrays the true horror of the First World War and authentic weaponry including artillery and gas. Weapons need to be handled with skill - each gun handles differently and there are no floating crosshairs to aid your aim, along with realistic bullet physics to contend with.
Battle your way across no man’s land to capture the next enemy trench line, before switching to defense to protect your gains in the Frontlines game mode. Keep your head down or quickly don your mask in the event of artillery strikes or gas attacks. This unforgiving war isn’t for the faint hearted!
The WW1 Game Series currently includes Verdun, Tannenberg set on the Eastern Front, Isonzo set on the Italian Front and Gallipoli set on the Ottoman Fronts. These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines. For Verdun, we carried out extensive field research at the battlefield itself and were advised by knowledgeable historians to make sure the individual elements in Verdun are as historically accurate as it can get. Uniforms have been recreated to the tiniest detail, the weapons are modeled to exact references and the maps use realistic props and terrain layouts. Everything in the game has been tailored to recreate the grim atmosphere so typical of WW1, from the immersive interface and war torn maps to realistic sounds and voices that evoke the feeling of actually being there in the mud covered trenches, peering out over no man's land in search of the enemy.

no doubt it was a good game but its only multiplayer and no one actually plays the game. you just havebots. if it had a campaign it would be good but no acutaly reason to buy this game in 2026
Verdun is a very realistic WWI shooter, with impressive attention to historical detail everything from the time period and countries to the uniforms and battlefield tactics feels authentic. The gameplay really shines when you’re working with a coordinated squad, especially with friends in voice chat, where communication makes a huge difference. Pushing through trenches and advancing across no man’s land creates a completely different pace compared to the fast, chaotic action of games like Battlefield or Call of Duty. It’s slower, more methodical, and heavily focused on positioning and awareness. The difficulty is part of what makes it so rewarding most weapons are one hit kills, barbed wire is deadly, and crossing open ground requires careful timing and quick reactions. When you successfully capture a trench or wipe out an enemy squad, it feels genuinely earned. That said, the same punishing mechanics can also make the experience frustrating on off days. The Verdun Remastered update (more of a major overhaul than a full re-release) adds some welcome improvements. Small quality of life changes like clearer teammate indicators help reduce accidental team kills, while the addition of bots helps keep matches populated. New squads and cross-play support also give the game a healthier player base and more variety overall. My main issues come from how some of the systems are explained or rather, not explained. Capturing trenches isn’t always communicated clearly, so it can be confusing to know when you’re actually making progress. The squad and team ranking system is also a bit messy, with ranks shifting in ways that don’t feel intuitive. Since those ranks affect the abilities and attacks you can use, it can become frustrating to keep track of. A bit more clarity or simplification here would go a long way. It’s not always easy to get into, but if you’re willing to learn its systems and play it the way it’s meant to be played with teamwork and patience it can be an incredibly rewarding experience.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Realy good WW1 shooter. There aren't many, and they hit the nail with this one. The atmosphere is great and it never felt too sweaty. The player base is nice, i almost never encounterd toxicity.
A realistic war simulation one mistake and you're certain to die. I love this type of game because it makes you realize that millions of people died in this war—people who had lives, families, and careers before the war, and time to hone their skills, but all of that vanished and they were forgotten overnight.
на западном фронте без перемен
Verdun is a good option for patient players who expect more authentic gameplay rather than just fast-paced action from shooters. The First World War period isn't often explored by video game devs, and shooter designers especially avoid it. This is what makes Verdun stand out. The devs have kept refining and expanding this work, thus making it a solid game. 🧠The game does not have a story campaign because we can only engage in online battles. The primary game mode enables us to select our preferred playing area from multiple available maps. Joining a unit will transport us to a specific location instead of using the typical server browser. The battle involves 32 players who start from their respective trench lines. The attackers must capture enemy positions and force their opponents to retreat to the next defensive line. The defenders gain counterattack rights after an offensive fails because their roles will switch. The gameplay changes according to the requirements of each mission. The defensive strategy requires us to stay calm and watch our surroundings while we keep our designated positions. The situation becomes chaotic when enemies successfully penetrate our trench defenses. The process of attacking requires all of us to execute dangerous runs across a combat zone which contains both barbed wire and bomb craters. To succeed we need to control our running speed while utilizing available cover and terrain features to execute turning movements which will confuse our adversaries. The enemies have identified us as their primary target which creates an atmosphere of heightened tension for us. After we achieve our main goal we work to eliminate all defenders while keeping control of the location. The shooting model provides a more realistic experience than the Battlefield series. The players who enjoy and have enjoyed Red Orchestra 2 and Rising Storm will find themselves instantly comfortable in Verdun. Without precise aim and holding our breath, it's usually difficult to hit someone from a distance. The recoil is noticeable, and the barrel wobbles quite a bit. The gameplay isn't easy and requires patience, but it can also be truly rewarding. The game experience creates a different style of play that contrasts with existing arcade games, which emphasizes speedy gameplay and multiple additional features. The game does not show enemy locations on the map, which makes it possible for players to confuse enemies with their own team members. A single accurate shot will typically defeat an enemy. We most often use bolt-action rifles, such as the Kar98 or Gewehr '98. If we miss, we know we've wasted an opportunity and have given away our position. The game also features other weapons, including pistols and light machine guns. There's also submachine guns, and some soldiers will carry deadly grenades. Equipment depends on the class we choose, which in turn is linked to the unit we join. We also receive various skills, such as bonuses that grant slightly increased durability. Commanders can issue orders and even designate targets for mortars or gas attacks. The devs have also created a free-for-all combat, which exists alongside the primary gameplay mode. The battle serves as a curiosity which differs from typical battles but failed to maintain my interest unlike the active trench warfare between two opposing teams. The visuals are impressive and decent. Besides, the unique environment does offer many opportunities for beautiful views even if we mainly look at a drab, gray environment: sand, mud and dugouts which are beautiful their own way. ✅The Good. - Realistic shooting model - Interestingly presented trench warfare - Faithful to historical realities - Emphasizes cooperation and tactics - More ambitious than typical shooters - Eye-pleasing visuals ❌The Bad. - Low Player Count (Depending on Time/Region) - Not beginner-friendly. - You die fast and a lot. - Functional, but not cutting-edge by today’s standards. 🧾In Conclusion. Verdun provides a distinct shooting experience which appeals to players who are seeking authentic representations of combat in war environments. The game will not attract all players because its combat system functions with lower levels of action. However, it can deliver a thrilling experience. 7/10🔚
