Gorgeous graphics, fluid gameplay, very atmospheric. Truly an old school gem. It keeps on getting better, as the devs are actively supporting their work.

A love letter to Neo Geo Beat 'Em Ups. Gorgeous game, great sound and music, really feels like a classic arcade game with modern touches. Combat feels good and the hits have that nice crunch you can feel. There are three playable characters that play quite differently: a fast combo attacker, a grappler/CCer, and a character with a ranged attack. The game is a tad short coming in at 5 levels, but I'd honestly rather get 5 than 12+. For me, the Goldilocks Zone is somewhere in the middle. The game could use some more modes to increase replayability and longevity, but what the game does it does extremely well in a very tight package. Since the developers have a design philosophy of having characters that play very asymmetrically, I'd definitely purchase a DLC that expands the roster with some additional interesting characters, but I'm not sure if that's in the cards. Overall, great game

Pros 1. The pixel art and enemy designs are big and nice. 2. There is a good variety of environments and it has some extra areas that you can discover and some nice mini games like riding a bike or flying a ship. 3. The air combos are really fun and offer a lot of routes. It's beginner friendly and not too complex to perform. 4. Hit detection is good and there is good feedback when stunning the enemies. 5. The three characters each play differently enough and they have their own strengths and weakness. I did not find a character that I didn't like. They all were fun once you get the hang of them. Cons 1. There is only 5 stages and the levels stretch a bit too long. 2. The average length of the game is around 1 hr 20 mins which is more then I like for a retro style beat em up. Would have been better if they had cut the stages shorter and use the excess for a 6th stage. 3. There is some BS in the latter stages. Everything wants to explode in your face. 4. While I like some of the strategies needed to fight bosses, the final boss however is very annoying to fight. 5. The music for this game is meh. There are a few nice tunes, but I wouldn't call it memorable. Overall its a very good game. Air combos is the highlight for this game. It's easy to pick up and play and the games challenge is fairly difficult but not insane. Just be aware of the annoying crap later when many of the enemy types with have something to explode in your face and all the breakable objects that hides an active dynamite.
