G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra

I must say this game is very basic. I bought it because I am a massive fan of GiJoe. I played it once and I will never touch it again.

Saw the bad reviews. Had to see what was so bad about this game. Easy to learn UI for the casual gamer? Check! Story ripped straight of the 80s? Big check! Easy to recognize characters and vehicles? You know it, baby! I'm sorry, but that Cobra PSA had me in tears! a beautiful tribute to better times!

This was one of the worst beat 'em ups I've ever played. It is so lazy and poorly done. I definitely do not recommend this.

Missed The Target There was great potential here. The GI Joe name bring great memories from my childhood. However, this game falls way short. Here is a list of my thoughts. 1. The game feels sloppy 2. boss fights are boring and lacking (example: Destro just punches in the air, you hit him, he jumps to another spot and punches air) 3. game feels too repetitive 4. attack animations are dumb 5. The aqua colored enemies can ruin your day. There was plenty of times when I would get hit and you can't escape the attacks. It happens when there are multiple of them on the screen. they keep hitting you and you can't move. I would much rather play the old NES version rather than this. If you are looking for a good old school style brawler, try TMNT Shredders revenge. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is another good one. I would avoid this one though.

I got this for $1.65 USD as part of a bundle and it is hardly worth the price. DO NOT GET IT AT FULL ASKING PRICE. -The cutscenes feel a bit cheap (not because of the artists fault, you can tell they were give a poor budget) which would be irrelevant if the gameplay was decent. -The game glitched and froze on my first play trough on the first mission. -Controls are clunky. You'll bounce around the screen for regular hits from regular enemies. -Special abilities and powers feel boring. -Items felt useless and pointless. -A second glitch happened while playing which caused my joystick's rumble to be permanent (had to unplug the thing). -They use the same mini-robot boss like 8+ times on different levels (not even joking) And the worst thing of all: it felt boring. This game is 85% nostalgia cash grab and 15% beat-em-up. Save yourself from the disappointment.

I was expecting something like turtles or streets of rage but this fails to capture any of the fun. Visually it looks good but there's just much better games with a lot more fun mechanics out there. I got this on a deep bundle sale and I would say barely living up to that 😆

This game is clearly not finished. You can get stun locked, your special moves will be ineffective due to bugs in the game, you'll get stuck on the screen, and I could go on. I L-O-V-E GI Joe and grew up with it as a child of the 1980s. This game is a sham. DO NOT buy.

It is fun to see the G.I. Joe characters, but like other people have said the game just sucks. Sound effects and music are especially bad. The game play is super simple and very repetitive. The bosses are very basic and many feel incomplete. I will play it a little bit more to see more of the characters, but it just isn't very fun and there are a lot of random glitches. There are much much better modern beat em ups out there.

Very boring game, with basic bad gameplay and music and sounds that are nothing about the G.I. Joe. It really wants to be Streets of Rage, but is a very weak imitation of it all the way to the special move.

I ignored the warnings and bought this on sale anyways. I am torn between refunding it or keeping it just to get through and see the characters. The visuals I will say are very pleasing. They include a lot of the common enemies and major villains from GI Joe. The cool vehicles are also represented. The only disappointment is that I have not seen any disposable baddies fly in on a trouble bubble yet. The game play is absolutely basic in most ways and horrid in others. Duke and Snake Eyes are pretty decent to play as. Roadblock is not fun and Scarlett is 0/10. Her attacks are horrible and its such close range melee that you can't even reach the enemies with your kicks before they hit you. The sound is... I don't even know what to say about it. The voice acting is ok and I give it a 2/10 just because they sound similar to their character. The audio quality though is a 0/10. Its got this weird crackling sound that sounds like it was recorded in an amatuer garage bands garage. They couldn't bother to include the actual GI Joe music and sounds? I mean clearly you have the IP... why would you leave that out? We couldn't get a Yo Joe intro? My biggest gripe is the movement. I don't even know how to describe it. I feel like I'm playing Super Mario Brothers 2 as Luigi skating around on ice with his little legs moving as fast as they can. The movement is not accurate at all. Most of the time you slide past the enemy facing the wrong way and miss attack opportunities. I finally figured out the slide attack is due to running, but its like I never know when the character will run or walk. Running has ALWAYS been either a double tap or a long button press on the movement pad. This is like a 50/50 whether you will be running as soon as you tap the movement or not. Its getting a thumbs down for do not recommend. Not even for nostalgia. If you really just want to see cool vehicles and sprites in the retro form... that's about all you will get out of it.
