ughh wheres the bar i need a drink after shooting one billion robots

While this game does have high points like its gunplay, I find that it has a nonsensical, bland and convoluted story, as well as generic and repetitive world and level design makes it rather forgettable from a moment to moment basis. then just a personal preference thing for being a fast paced and snappy 3rd person shooter all about sliding it pushes you away from melee to an extreme ending up feeling like an indecisive cover shooter. It's a fine game if it's on a steep sale being 5-6 hours if you want a sanded down over gears of war with little "pizzazz" it works.

Tight Pacing: No filler—just fast-moving chapters packed with action, keeping the momentum sky-high. Cons: Narrative is Paper-Thin: The plot feels like an afterthought—a generic military-political conflict that exists only to shuttle you between explosions. Portrayal of Women: Women are virtually absent, and the one major female character (Elena) is relegated to a support role, barking mission updates with robotic efficiency. She’s framed more as a technical sidekick or aesthetic accessory than a developed character. Hypermasculine Aesthetic: Sam Gideon, our protagonist, is a gruff-talking, chain-smoking super-soldier in a cyber-suit—more caricature than character. The entire tone echoes a 1980s action-movie fantasy: chest-thumping, emotionally hollow, and devoid of introspection. Verdict: Vanquish is a masterclass in arcade-style action, but it’s also a product of its time—one steeped in macho bravado and gender neglect. If you can look past its dated storytelling and one-dimensional tone, the gameplay still holds up as an electrifying shooter. But if you're after something with meaningful representation or narrative nuance, this one might leave you cold beneath the chrome.
