Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 21 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
A Continent Engulfed in the Bitter Flames of War!
Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes place in the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, but with an all-new story focusing on Squad E of the Federation. Commander Claude Wallace and his childhood friends set out to fight in a desperate war, but bone-chilling blizzards, waves of imperial soldiers, and the godlike powers of the Valkyria stand between them and victory.
The BLiTZ Battle System and the CANVAS Graphic Engine return!
A Coming-of-Age Story in a Time of War
Take command of the determined, young Commander Claude Wallace, engineer/heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, hot-headed Darcsen Raz, ice-cold ace sniper Kai Schulen, and more. Together, they will experience the painful realities of war — but will the bonds of Squad E's friendships survive the frozen battlefield?
The Next Generation ""BLiTZ"" Battle System
Part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter, the "BLiTZ" battle system returns to the field. New features include an explosive new class called the Grenadier, numerous offensive/defensive battleship support options, chances for a unit to have a "Last Stand" action before death, and more. Plus, fight the imperial threat with more units on larger-scale maps than ever before.
CANVAS Aesthetics
The series' signature hand-drawn visual style is back and overhauled for the newest generation. Inspired by watercolour compositions, the CANVAS Graphics Engine blends visual elements of reality and imagination to create an expressive world filled with colourful emotions. Watch the journey of Squad E unfold like an interactive painting!
The Return of a Legendary Composer
The illustrious Hitoshi Sakimoto, original composer of the Valkyria Chronicles series and countless other emotional epics, returns to provide a sweeping orchestral score for the game.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I've set my expectations high because of VC1. While VC4 is still a great game overall with many appreciated gameplay improvements. but i feel the story lacks a proper punch compared to VC1 (mainly the plot). Now, comparing VC1 and VC4 : Since I've had 100% both of them, VC1 wins on the campaign story telling. It has more details in cutscenes, animations such as emotions, more cohesion, etc. VC4 has better graphics, better level design, and refined gameplay, and so many new class options to offer in one roof. I'd like to think VC4 as a spin-off, reboot, or alt timeline because of the massive difference in tech and atmosphere. I really love the new-game+ implementation in this game, way better than VC1 and is more forgiving. even after ending the main story, and i really wish they could've continued adding features. I did some light digging and came to the conclusion that SEGA didn't like how VC has become, and it appears they're giving "skies of arcadia" treatment 😢 while the developers/studio has moved onto mobile games nowadays.. There are several layers of new potential VC world building that could lead a new game that is at least not focused on the EW2.. (come on sega,) ========================== (- my nitpicks) I have trouble liking the MC (just not logical/realistic) Several characters has underbaked story and are copy paste from the first game with switched backgrounds and stereotypes (Its not horribly done, but its obvious how VC4 is trying to imitate VC1 while trying to be its own thing) My least favorite would be jascha and that other mortar guy, being so annoying with no actual lore behind their behaviors Smoke shells is an after thought with very little room for gameplay, the only time i used it once or twice for strategic purpose against bad RNG (boss camping on my characters) Lancers is the least played during my whole playthrough (not that i don't like them, they just made the class obsolete by adding several vehicles weak spots out of reach for them) low-key deployed them waiting for them to shine only to be dusted on camp. VC1 DLC Characters has different VA's that somehow messed up the original characters lore (excluding Alicia, Rosie, and Selvaria) to the point that its noticeably off
Gave it a try and was blown away how awesome it is. Wished ive known it back then. The music, style, characters, even the turnbased combat is done real well. I found it really challenging so far sometimes. The missions really increase quick in difficulty. So much side stuff and getting to know the characters. And you see how the devs really knew about military strategy, weapons and stuff to some agree and not just some no-knowers pulling stuff out their behinds. Just a beautiful game i will probably have many more hours to come and will return to it when finished quite a lot. Feels like a playable high quality OG anime at times
