A 5 hour romp into the wonderful world of India. The walls of the different neighbourhoods as as much allegories of the caste system, as artefacts contributing to this feeling of determinism: you cannot escape your fate, you have to move forward. I did not enjoy the switcheroo between all the characters that you play, as I would have liked to spend more time with them. Character depth is quite good. The ending is ...abrupt.

Can't believe how many negative reviews there are for this gem! The society of this world is really well-developed, and all the dialogue options are believable and well-written.
Nice little game about maneuvering through your life. Through a fictional life in a fictional conflict. This is quite much a survival game, know that. This is different from a dialogue-based RPG in the way that it feels a LOT like a greek drama, that is you know that your character is going to get killed and your job is to find the right dialogue options to prevent the seemingly inevitable. This makes this game interesting, I find it intense to play. I try a lot to estimate the consequences of what I am saying so I may chose me dialogue options right. This game plays more with your nerves than you'd first believe..survival is tough and unpredictable.
I'm really enjoying it so far! If you're a fan of Planescape: Torment, Torment: Tides of Numenera and/or Disco Elysium and are able to put the admittedly low-budget production values aside, this is definitely a worthy addition to your library.
All of your choices are wrong and bad. But don't worry, they don't matter anyway.
Unrest is an interesting little game. It offers something different in a number of respects: - essentially based entirely around dialogue choices; - set in a fantasy version of ancient India; - played from the perspective of several different characters as part of an overall story I emphasise "little"; the first playthrough took me 2.5 hours; the second barely 1. However, the story it told - both overall and in terms of the specific characters - was rather compelling. It has its flaws - the ending is too abrupt and vague, the music is too limited and the looping of short tracks becomes grating and the impact of choices isn't nearly as significant as I would have hoped - but as a brief, unique experience, it's a worthwhile one (at least, as long as you get it on special).
I Kickstarted this game and finally got around to playing it. It's pretty short but the story is compelling (I finished my first playthrough in one sitting because I really wanted to see what happened!) Judging by the achievements I have left to unlock, there are a lot more paths through the game than the one I ended up with. I'll definitely be playing again, making different choices. I also liked being able to play from the perspectives of many different characters. I really enjoyed this combatless RPG and I'm happy to have backed it!
Pros - Great OST - Decent art - Easy to play - Cool, Indian inspired setting Cons - Too short - Choices don't feel like they mattered too much - Fear, Friendliness, and Respect mechanic didn't flow well into the game - AWFUL epilogue sequence - Traits don't feel like they matter I really wanted to like this game, and I did because I bought it on a discount. That being said for a game that is about choices the way they were implemented feel unrewarding. I hated the epilogue sequence and really didn't tell me much or was clear about how my choices and traits of every player character affected the short and long-run. I love the presentation, but that's about all I can say is nice about this game.
I recommend this game at its sale price of $5, but not $15. Most of the game is really interesting. It lets you play in the point of view of all the sides, which I really liked. There are also lots of choices that are available. However, it felt like these choices didn't add up to much. There's really no gameplay, however thats not bad. The story keeps you interested. However, the ending is very disappointing. It feels like they wanted to add more to the game but ran out of budget. I would recommend buying the game when it's on sale for $5. I think that $15 is too much. Play the demo and if that interests you, pick it up on sale when it's $5 or less.
