Is it janky and unpolished? Yes. Does it have plenty of charm to it? Yes! I can't fault anyone who doesn't enjoy the game in its present state, since it does need a lot more meat on its bones, but I genuinely want to see where all this goes. The characters are fun, the gameplay satisfies well enough (despite some issues that did irritate, though I'm willing to forgive it because it's incomplete), and the writing makes me smile. Here's hoping the full product carries through on the promise this early access release shows!
i use to play this game about last year, back on itch.io so when it came here, i was excited.... first look into it since EA release: - The "full game" after you buy it, is just the Demo. - The game play is still broken. - The Story is ok, it still needs more work but that part isn't that important right now. - Most of all... THERE'S NO PUDDING!
This is a genuinely good foundation for a genuinely good tactics game.
Don't let the art style warp your perception of what this is: the focus of this game is not on cuteness or anime or something like that. It's on killing the enemy, in a unique interwar setting no less. And the game has a lot of very well-done systems that will make this an awesome product when it's finished. As of the time of writing, there's the first bit of the campaign available for playing. This campaign is good: it has some fun fights, it introduces the mechanics well, and on top of that, the writing is actually legitimately funny in places. There's some narrative depth here too (the world is fairly interesting). Now, keep in mind that this is very early access. However, the encouraging thing about this game's state of completion is that while there isn't a ton in the way of content (missions, campaign time etc), most of the systems (vehicles, combat, the world map, etc.) seem to be finished already, and they're well-done. What is implemented is high-quality. This means that when the rest of the content comes out there's a higher chance it'll be good. Here's an example of a cool system: tanks. Tanks aren't just units with a big health bar. Most small arms fire won't damage them, so you either need to use anti-armor rounds (boring), or you need to use heat. Basically, if you set enough fires around a tank it'll get uncomfortable inside (high amounts of heat will even make the ammo explode) and the people in there will bail out, so you can shoot them normally. If you cripple a tank's treads and start shooting it while it's immobile the crew will probably bail too. This is a really neat way of doing armored vehicles! There are different ammo types, there's a fatigue system, there's weapon jamming (and catastrophic malfunctions, ie, the gun freaking exploding)... this really is a labor of love by people who know a bit about the stuff they're making a game around. And that's a good thing for the player when it comes through. Also, important for any RTS (even an RTS with pause) is pathfinding -- whether your units go where you tell them. Let it be said that the pathing in this game is good. No "Iron Harvest syndrome" here. If you want a fleshed-out, complete experience, then wait; but I'd still recommend buying this because you should seriously support these devs. If you do then we might actually get the open-world ambush-em-up that we've always wanted. To the devs: thanks for making this, and I look forward to seeing the final product. Oh and here's my entitled armchair-developer feature request: if it isn't too hard, might I request technicals? I don't know if any guerrilla warfare sim would be complete without the ability to strap a big gun to the back of a truck and ruin somebody's day with it. I think they did this kind of thing even back during the Spanish Civil War.
It is not a bad game, I think it plays nicely...but it is so unfinished and buggy that I cannot really recommended it yet: - Frequent and kinda long loading times. Also, my CPU fan starts spinning furiously while playing this game, some optimizations would be welcome. - Audio issues: Do not play this game at night (without headphones). Music starts playing super loudly out of nowhere or between loading screens. There are no sound effects other than a couple of gunshots, no voices either. - Trying to make your units shoot again after moving them around under fire is a futile effort. - Inventory management & looting kinda sucks - RNG must be really something for weapons to get jammed this often with a 1% chance :( Will let it simmer a bit and get fixed before I continue to play it.
I've played the demo before I fell in love with the style of this game back then and was waiting for it It is a game that is expected to develop in the future. 2022-04-29 (The currently published version is exactly the same as the demo version.)
Hello everyone thanks for tuning into forgotten weapons, I'm Ian McCollum and today we are going to be reviewing the Danzig 1888/95. Now, this particular rifle has some pretty interesting history behind it, because it was used by one of the survivors of a plane crash in Rukh in which only a boy, a man, and his harem had survived.
The last update was January 15 of 2023 and it was only a hot fix from then till now there's only been teaser's on what's to come. The Dev discord is pretty much dead with no updates on progress and the twitter is just barren. It's a cool concept but there's barely any content. don't buy it
this game is fun i enjoyed the demo and killing not so french, frenches the game it is buggy but not big enough to catch ur eyes except the crashes which rarely happens the lore and time line was fine i think? mixing so fantasy stuffs doesnt hurt in fact it makes it much more fun... besides the part that you have to beat Fei. it was a nightmare tbh. anyways this game was fun and and i enjoyed it even tho it was hard. im waiting for more contents and stuffs and you know what ever just add more animations and fix the covering system and suppression effect
Really uncomfortable once you discover most of the characters are minors. On one hand it may just be a story about child soldiers. On the other hand, they could be sexualizing minors. It's already anime-style art so I'm guess the latter is actually very likely. Not going to continue playing to find out - already requested my refund.
