It is good.

True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 3 brings Holly Stonehouse’s disturbing journey to its conclusion with a finale that remains faithful to the identity established by the previous games while expanding the scale of its mystery. Developed by Goblinz Enterprises Ltd and published by The Digital Lounge, this third installment is a psychological horror point-and-click adventure centered on investigation, environmental exploration, puzzle solving, and cinematic storytelling. Rather than shifting toward combat or action, it continues to build fear through atmosphere, uncertainty, disturbing discoveries, and the gradual reconstruction of a complicated family history. The story follows Holly after the discoveries connected to her childhood home and the horrors of Dark Falls Asylum. Her investigation now reaches the deepest layers of the mystery surrounding her family, forcing her to examine events that have influenced virtually her entire life. Letters, photographs, reports, and other pieces of evidence gradually reveal what happened, but the narrative deliberately complicates the distinction between memory, psychological trauma, and potentially supernatural phenomena. This uncertainty is one of the game's strongest qualities because the horror does not depend entirely on monsters or sudden scares. Much of the tension comes from wondering whether Holly can trust what she discovers and what the consequences of the truth will ultimately be. Gameplay remains firmly rooted in traditional point-and-click adventure design. Players travel between interconnected locations, inspect objects, gather useful items, uncover clues, and solve puzzles that gradually open new areas or advance the investigation. The game contains 119 locations, 237 close-up scenes, 29 in-engine cutscenes, and 72 puzzles, making the concluding chapter particularly substantial. These environments rarely feel like simple backgrounds because objects, documents, mechanisms, and visual details can become important later. Progress therefore rewards careful observation and a willingness to remember previously encountered obstacles. The puzzle design works especially well alongside the investigative structure. Challenges range from mechanisms and logical problems to larger chains that require information collected elsewhere. Reconstructing timelines and interpreting conflicting evidence also creates a detective-like element that complements the story. Because clues are spread across numerous locations, progression can sometimes require considerable backtracking or remembering where an unusual object was previously encountered. This may frustrate players who prefer straightforward progression, but it also gives discoveries a satisfying sense of purpose. The nonlinear clue hunting makes Holly's investigation feel more involved than simply completing one isolated puzzle after another. Atmosphere remains the defining feature of the experience. The environments are gloomy, detailed, and frequently uncomfortable without relying on constant threats. Empty rooms and seemingly ordinary objects can become disturbing because the game establishes the expectation that another unpleasant revelation might be nearby. Cinematic sequences provide stronger bursts of horror, while quieter exploration allows suspense to develop gradually. The result is a form of psychological horror that values anticipation as much as direct scares. Players expecting survival-horror combat may find the experience comparatively restrained, but anyone who appreciates slow-building dread should find the approach effective. The visual presentation complements this style particularly well. Detailed environments invite close inspection, and the large number of close-up scenes allows individual objects and puzzle mechanisms to receive greater attention. The extensive variety of locations also helps maintain visual interest throughout a lengthy adventure. Cutscenes are integrated at important moments to strengthen major revelations rather than constantly interrupting exploration. The presentation ultimately feels designed around the needs of the mystery, allowing environmental details to contribute both to storytelling and gameplay. Audio is equally important. The scene-specific musical score reinforces changes in mood while ambient effects make otherwise quiet locations feel threatening. The game understands that silence can be just as useful as dramatic music, particularly when players are slowly searching an unfamiliar environment. Subtle sounds can create anxiety before anything actually happens, while stronger musical cues give important discoveries additional dramatic weight. This controlled approach prevents the horror from becoming dependent on repetitive jump scares. As a concluding chapter, Part 3 benefits considerably from knowledge of the previous installments. Many revelations are intended to resolve questions surrounding Holly, her family, her childhood, and Dark Falls Asylum. A newcomer could still appreciate the puzzles and atmosphere, but much of the emotional impact would inevitably be weakened without understanding what Holly has already endured. This is fundamentally the final act of a continuing story rather than an independent horror adventure wearing the name of an established series. There are some weaknesses inherent to its chosen formula. Extensive backtracking and item-based progression can occasionally slow the pace, while players unfamiliar with point-and-click adventures may find certain solutions less intuitive than expected. Its deliberate storytelling also means that anyone seeking constant danger, combat, or unrestricted movement may find it too methodical. Yet these characteristics are largely consequences of the genre rather than evidence that the game misunderstands its audience. True Fear is interested in investigation first, using horror to make that investigation increasingly unsettling. The package is rounded out with additional material including collectible figurines, wallpapers, and behind-the-scenes content. There are also 33 Steam achievements, giving completion-focused players additional objectives beyond simply reaching the conclusion. These extras are particularly appropriate for the final installment because they provide longtime followers with reasons to explore more thoroughly and spend additional time with the trilogy's closing chapter. True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 3 ultimately succeeds by expanding rather than abandoning the formula that made the series distinctive. Goblinz Enterprises Ltd delivers an ambitious conclusion filled with puzzles, interconnected environments, unsettling imagery, cinematic moments, and long-awaited revelations, while The Digital Lounge serves as publisher. Its slower point-and-click structure will not satisfy every horror fan, but players interested in psychological mysteries and environmental investigation will find a substantial finale here. The combination of oppressive atmosphere, intelligent puzzle design, extensive exploration, strong audiovisual presentation, and meaningful narrative closure makes it a fitting end to Holly Stonehouse’s story.
Part 1 + 2 + 3! Alles einfach unfassbar gut!
This is a great game. It took 17 hours to play it. I played on casual mode. You can choose more difficult levels it you like. An option I liked is that on certain puzzles you could choose easy, difficult, or advanced. I do like challenging puzzles sometimes. Definitely worth the price.
Interessante und gut umgesetzte Reihe. Ziemlich psycho.
