About
True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 3 is the long-awaited conclusion to one of the most acclaimed psychological horror mystery trilogies. Building on the tension, atmosphere, and emotional storytelling of the first two games, Part 3 delivers the final chapter of Holly Stonehouse’s journey - a dark and unsettling investigation where every answer raises new questions until the truth can no longer be avoided.
Crafted with a stronger narrative focus, deeper world-building, and more complex emotional stakes, Part 3 closes the story that has captivated millions of Players. As Holly follows the last threads of her family’s past, she finds herself drawn deeper into a mystery where memory, trauma, and reality cross. The final search brings the trilogy to its darkest, most revealing point - a place where the line between psychological and supernatural horror becomes razor thin.
True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 3 is a single point-and-click adventure in the tradition of the True Fear series, designed for players who enjoy atmospheric horror, investigation, and puzzle-driven storytelling.
After uncovering the secrets of her childhood home and surviving the horrors of Dark Falls Asylum, Holly’s search leads her beyond the familiar locations of the past and into the final layers of the mystery surrounding her family. Une jolie conclusion à la trilogie !
An excellent adventure game featuring a rich and engaging story, intuitive item interactions, well designed puzzles, optional hidden object scenes, and convenient fast travel. Even a decade later, it remains an enjoyable experience. The final part opens with Holly back at her house, but this brief flashback merely serves to teach you the basics before the real story begins weaving its way toward a deeply satisfying conclusion. What initially seems like a straightforward ghost story gradually transforms into one of the best I've ever experienced. Since the game is divided into three games that largely share the same mechanics, there is not much new that can be said about them, and one review fits them all. From a gameplay perspective, this is a point and click adventure. You explore scenes looking for interaction points and activate them with the left mouse button. Hotspots are not highlighted, so you need to move the cursor around and watch for it to change into a different icon that already indicates what action will take place. The most common icons are a magnifying glass, which either triggers a comment from Holly or opens a close up view of an object, a hand that lets you pick up or use an item, and a larger arrow that moves you to another scene. Icons’ design has changed a bit, but their functionality remains. There are three acts, each taking place in a different location, but with the same types of collectibles like in the previous games. Evidence expand your journal with additional story details that help explain what is happening, while small figurines provide background information about the game's characters. To make navigation easier, a map allows you to quickly travel between rooms by clicking on their images. Collected items are stored in an inventory at the bottom of the screen. Unlike the first game, where the inventory could be hidden or left open in a way that sometimes made certain hotspots difficult to click, the inventory in this game is always visible and slightly transparent, allowing you to see what’s behind it. To use an item, simply click on it to attach it to your cursor and then click on a location where it might be useful. Areas that require an item are mostly marked with a spinning gear icon. And since there’s one big location with rooms that always stay available, it takes a bit longer to visit them all and test all items. Fortunately, the solutions are logical and item combinations make sense, so progress rarely becomes frustrating. Holly also provides useful comments that often point you in the right direction. Just like in the first game, a few hotspots work differently. However, unlike the original, which let you choose between a traditional hidden-object mode and a more adventure-focused approach that involved finding items and using them in the correct locations, this game only offers the latter. There are more of these scenes compared to the second part, but they’re still pretty rare. Beyond item usage, some challenges come in the form of logical puzzles. Their difficulty depends on the setting you choose at the start, although it can be adjusted at any point during the game. The puzzles are fair, fit naturally into the adventure, and never feel forced. There is also no need to take notes because Holly's journal automatically records clues and information relevant to puzzle solutions. There’s no bonus chapter, but the extra content is similar to the first part. You can take a look at wallpapers and play music, review evidence and figurines, replay unlocked puzzles and hidden object scenes, rewatch cutscenes, and check out the nice “making of” section. Another thing that’s the same are achievements, and you can get most of them by playing on the hardest difficulty, never using hints, and never skipping cutscenes. One very cool feature is that if you missed any of the figurines, you can play a mini-game to collect it without replaying the entire game.
I normally don't play these types of games, but this is one of the best games I've ever played. Play the entire series from Part 1 thru this one Part 3. You won't regret it. I hope to see Goblinz make more games like this.
Ruined by stupid and obtuse puzzles that make most of the game clicking random objects in hope they work then laughing at how bad the logic is.
