Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/19Z38S7Crts If you already own Trickster VR Coop Dungeon Crawler, there is probably no reason to download this. It's basically a demo for Trickster VR. However, if you don't own Trickster VR, then this is a must download as a free to play game. There's a lot here to enjoy, even if it's a watered down Trickster VR version. This is basically a hack n slash wave shooter where you protect the guardian. You can use melee, ranged, or magical attacks. While it's not going for realism, it is fast-paced arcade fun with little to no rest in between the waves. There's plenty of weapons to pick up and try, as well as varied enemies. It will be a challenge to make it to the top of the leaderboards. I did experience one bug where I was transported up and outside the play area boundaries. Luckily, after a few moments the guardian went down since I wasn't there to protect it and the game restarted normally. Rate 7/10. I already own Trickster VR, so I probably won't play this again, but it is one of the best demos if not the best.

I want to like this game but the controls are just horrible, clunky and counter intuitive and just lead to frustration all around. I am not sure if it has poor support for the Index or if it the same depressing control scheme for all head sets. You can't walk and rotate with the controller so you need to play with teleport. Teleport and rotate feels clunky, making escapes awkward or impossible. However you can change movement from right to left hand, and have some choices in the degree of rotations in the settings menu so that is a small plus in the hot garbage that is the control scheme. There are invisible boundaries that can keep mobs out of melee range but allowing them to attack you. Mobs can pile you quickly, leaving little time to react (but maybe that is only because the controls are bad). Weapon changes are annoying, more often I have found the game has changed my weapon in the middle of battle (and I don't recall hitting the button). The "slow" option for weapon changes require an extreme turn of the wrist and even that didn't always stop random swaps, just lead to soaking up more damage as you swap from bow to sword. Magic/scrolls are not explained and use may lead to even more annoyance when attempting to use them in the midst of combat. I can't recommend anyone even try this.

It's an okay wave shooter. I like how it incorporate random drops and progression into this genre. But the level design and several subsystems make the game feel unpolished overall. Picking up new weapons and utilizing the strength of your arsenal to push back waves of orcs is a really fun experience. My main complaint is the level design. The area is too small and enemies are partying at my core all the time. Maybe I'm just very bad at the game but I'd suggest tweaking the pacing in early levels, and keep enemies spawning at one direction until later level. The Upgrade screen feel very unpolished. During the battle the screen appears randomly and blocks your view. I'd suggest putting the Upgrade Screen on the a wall near the core instead of sticking on player's face. Overall this is a fun game if you can tolerate the unpolished parts. If you like the setting and random progression in a wave shooter then it's definitely worth trying.

Does not work. Or at least not for my oculus rift s
Trickster VR: Horde Attack!
Trickster VR: Horde Attack! is a VR only first person wave survival brawling arena where you fight a bunch of what look like asset flipped orcs and things to see how high your score can get. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is somewhat shallow and not exactly of the level of quality I'd recommend. At best I can suggest this might be something interesting to do if you want to try out your VR headset, you'll probably get around 5 minutes of amusement from it.
Trickster VR: Horde Attack! is a free VR hack and Slash wave shooter game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. This is a single player demo for paid Trickster VR Co-Op game. It has a difficult mode with global leader board and a casual mode. You can switch between melee, ranged, or magical attacks. It is fast-paced arcade fun with little to no rest in between the waves. There's plenty of weapons to pick up and try, as well as varied enemies. CONS: You might have to edit the bindings to get the Index to work completely, i think there was missing controls, when i tried it with my Index. Try this game, you might like it.
